Anderson allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks in five innings of a 5-1 loss to the Cubs on Saturday. He struck out seven batters.

The lefty, who recorded 22 swings-and-misses, took advantage of the free-swinging Cubs but surrendered a solo homer to Kris Bryant. He's lined up to make the team's home Opening Day start Thursday, though nothing has been announced.

Senzatela (0-1) took the loss Friday as the Rockies fell 11-6 to the Dodgers, surrendering seven runs on nine hits and a walk over 3.1 innings. He struck out two.

The right-hander didn't serve up any homers, but that's about the only positive takeaway from an otherwise rough 2021 debut. Senzatela somehow managed a 2.10 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 34.1 innings last year at Coors Field, but any chance of a repeat of those numbers was quickly dispelled. He'll look for a better result in his next scheduled start Wednesday on the road in Arizona.

Lopez didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 6-4 loss to the Rays, giving up two hits and two walks over five scoreless innings while striking out four.

The right-hander threw 51 of 77 pitches for strikes before exiting with the score tied 0-0, only to watch Richard Bleier promptly serve up a homer to Austin Meadows in the top of the sixth and get the ball rolling on a wild finish. Lopez took a big step forward in 2020, and it looks like he might be able to build on those gains this season. The 25-year-old will face the Cardinals at home in his next scheduled start Wednesday.

Snell hurled 4.2 scoreless innings against Arizona on Friday, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out eight. He did not factor in the decision.

Snell looked good in his first game as a Padre, racking up 18 swinging strikes and whiffing eight batters. He fell one out shy of qualifying for the win, however, as manager Jayce Tingler chose to pull him after Snell threw 86 pitches before finishing the fifth inning. Limited pitch counts have haunted the southpaw in the past, of course, but he figures to have a longer leash in San Diego as the season progresses. He'll look to build upon a solid first start when he faces San Francisco at home Wednesday.

Kelly (0-1) took the loss against San Diego on Friday, pitching four innings and allowing three runs on five hits and three walks while striking out four.

Kelly piled up 94 pitches (56 strikes) across his four frames and was charged with the loss after leaving with a three-run deficit. He was stung by a two-run home run off the bat of Eric Hosmer in the third inning and allowed eight total baserunners between the second frame and his departure with no outs in the fifth. Kelly will look to bounce back when he faces Colorado on the road Thursday in his next scheduled start.

Cueto hurled 5.2 innings against Seattle on Friday, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks while striking out seven. He did not factor in the decision.

Cueto threw 105 pitches (64 for strikes) in his season debut and racked up 17 swinging strikes. The veteran right-hander yielded a run in the second inning and two more in the third but settled down thereafter and exited the game with the score tied 3-3. Cueto's next scheduled start will come next Friday at home versus Colorado.

Gallen (forearm) threw a 39-pitch bullpen session Wednesday but did not throw any curveballs, Steve Gilbert of MLB.com reports.

The Diamondbacks are hoping Gallen can pitch a simulated game in the next few days. The lack of curveballs is significant because that's the pitch on which he felt pain in his forearm previously.

Wood (back) threw in a simulated game Thursday and is progressing well, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

Wood had a minor procedure on his back in mid-March and the Giants are currently listing his injury as a lower-back strain. He is at the alternate training site and will likely join the big-league rotation at some point in the coming weeks, assuming there is a spot open for him.

Sanchez's MRI revealed mild inflammation at the back of his right shoulder Friday, Craig Mish of SportsGrid.com reports.

All things considered, the news could have been a lot worse for Sanchez and the Marlins, though any shoulder issue is a worry for a pitcher. That's doubly true for a pitcher like Sanchez, who's already battled his fair share of injuries despite being just 22 years old. He doesn't have a clear timetable for his return, but he no longer seems to be in the mix when the Marlins first need a fifth starter April 14. Even when he's ready to make his season debut, the Marlins -- who were already planning on capping his innings this season -- will likely continue to be very cautious with him given his health track record.

Manager Luis Rojas said Friday that Carrasco (hamstring) threw live batting practice earlier this week and is considered week-to-week, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports.

The 34-year-old is progressing well in his recovery from a torn right hamstring, and he may even be ahead of schedule after being ruled out six weeks in mid-March. Carrasco could be ready to pitch in at the start of May or a bit earlier if he advances quickly to throwing simulated games.
