Kim (back) will make his season debut Saturday against the Phillies, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

Kim developed back issues in mid-March and will wind up missing just over two weeks. He threw 86 pitches at the team's alternate training site Sunday, so he should be ready to handle a full workload in his season debut. His return will push Daniel Ponce de Leon back to the bullpen.

The Cardinals optioned Oviedo to their alternate training site following Monday's 5-2 loss to the Nationals.

After tossing 4.2 innings (65 pitches) in long relief in Sunday's loss to the Brewers, Oviedo wasn't available for the series opener versus Washington, and he likely wouldn't have been ready to pitch for at least another day or two. As such, St. Louis has opted to swap Oviedo out for a fresh relief arm in Kodi Whitley, who was recalled from the alternate site in a corresponding move. Oviedo should be back up with the big club later this season when the Cardinals require a spot starter or long man.

Gallen (forearm) was activated from the 10-day injured list as expected ahead of his scheduled Tuesday start against the Athletics.

Gallen suffered a hairline fracture in his right forearm in late March and initially had a rather ambiguous timeline. As it turns out, he won't end up missing more than two starts. After throwing 67 pitches in a simulated game Wednesday, he'll likely be on some sort of pitch count in his season debut but could still last long enough to be eligible for a win if he's efficient.

Alcantara didn't factor into the decision in Monday's win over Atlanta, giving up three runs on four hits and three walks over 6.1 innings while striking out four.

The outing wasn't up to the standards Alcantara established through his first two starts of the year, but he still delivered his third straight quality start while tossing 90 pitches (54 strikes). The right-hander has an impressive 2.45 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 21:7 K:BB through 18.1 innings, and he'll look for his first win of the season in his nest start, set for Saturday at home against the Giants.

Ynoa didn't factor into the decision in Monday's loss to the Marlins after allowing one run on three hits and a walk over six innings while striking out 10.

The right-hander got taken deep by Adam Duvall in the second inning but otherwise dominated the Miami offense, tossing 55 of 82 pitches for strikes and leaving the game with a 2-1 lead. Ynoa appears to be locking down a rotation spot for Atlanta, at least until Mike Soroka (Achilles/shoulder) is ready to return, and he'll take a 0.75 ERA and 15:2 K:BB through 12 innings into his next outing, set for Saturday on the road against the Cubs.

Miley (2-0) continued his dominant form in Monday's 3-0 win over the Giants, as he didn't allow a run through five innings and struck out three while only allowing two hits and a walk.

Miley has yet to top 80 pitches in either of his first two starts of the season, as manager David Bell seems to be taking a cautious approach with the 34-year-old after he's been limited to just six starts over the last two years due to various injuries. Miley has been smooth through his first two starts, allowing no runs on just four hits while sporting a 9:2 K:BB across 11 innings. He typically doesn't rely on strikeouts to get through his outings and has found success in the past by inducing soft contact. Miley's next scheduled to go head-to-head with one of the game's best in the Indians' Shane Bieber on Sunday.

Buehler's next outing is scheduled for Friday at San Diego, Blake Harris of SB Nation reports.

Buehler last pitched April 9 against Washington, so he'll have six days off between starts. The decision to start him Friday is partly to allow Dustin May a shot to rejoin the rotation Wednesday, though the larger implication is that Buehler will now start the opening game of the Dodgers' series against the second-place Padres. Over 12 innings this season, Buehler has allowed only two earned runs while posting an 8:0 K:BB.

May's next turn in the rotation will come Wednesday against Colorado, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.

May last pitched April 5, but the Dodgers chose to modify their rotation order due to having two off days in a five-day span. He'll now get the Rockies at home his next time out. The right-hander shined in his first start of the campaign, pitching six scoreless innings and striking out eight against Oakland.

Peralta (2-0) gave up one run on two hits and two walks while fanning 10 across six innings in Monday's win over the Cubs.

Peralta has looked absolutely dominant in his first two starts of the campaign, allowing just one run while fanning 18 across 11 innings. The fact that he walked just two in this outing was a positive sign as well, as he allowed four free passes in his previous start against Chicago last week. Peralta is lined up to make his third start of the season at home against the Pirates on April 18.

Darvish (1-0) allowed one run on three hits and a walk over seven innings Monday, striking out six and picking up a win over the Pirates.

Darvish earned his first win as a Padre by taking care of the Pirates with relative ease Monday. He tossed 63 of 95 pitches for strikes and retired 13 of the final 14 batters he faced. The lone run he yielded came from a Phillip Evans double in the third inning. The 34-year-old will face his toughest test of the season at home against the Dodgers on Saturday.
