Burnes (1-1) tossed six scoreless innings in Wednesday's win over the Cubs. He gave up two hits while fanning 10 and recording his first win of the season.

Burnes allowed a double in the second inning and a single in the third, but he settled down afterwards and retired 10 batters in a row before exiting the contest. The 10 punchouts also represented a season-high mark for the 26-year-old, and he has looked dominant through his first three starts while posting a 0.49 ERA and a 30:0 K:BB through 18.1 innings.

Webb pitched a perfect seventh inning with one strikeout to earn a hold in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Reds.

Webb was taken out of the rotation Wednesday, as Alex Wood is expected to return Saturday. The 24-year-old Webb threw11 pitches (six strikes) in his first relief appearances of the year. The right-hander is expected to be available for long-relief duties when necessary. He has a 4.76 ERA, 1.76 WHIP and 12:5 K:BB through 11.1 innings this season. Considering Johnny Cueto (lat) left Wednesday's game early, Webb could be a candidate for a spot start Tuesday in Philadelphia.

Mahle (1-1) took the loss Wednesday versus the Giants. He allowed two runs (one earned) on three hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in five innings.

Mahle pitched well, but the Reds mustered only four hits and a walk in the game. The right-hander has a 1.93 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 22:7 K:BB across 14 innings through three starts. While he's been effective on the mound, he hasn't been able to pitch past the fifth inning yet. His next start is expected to be next Wednesday versus the Diamondbacks.

Wainwright (0-2) took the loss Wednesday versus the Nationals after surrendering four runs (three earned) on seven hits with seven strikeouts and two walks across five innings.

The veteran right-hander never had much of a chance to avoid being charged with the loss Wednesday, as the Cardinals didn't score a run and mustered only five hits. Wainwright has allowed 11 runs (10 earned) on 19 hits with a 14:4 K:BB over 12.2 innings through three starts, and he'll have another matchup with Washington early next week.

Cueto left Wednesday's game against the Reds with lat tightness, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

He is being examined by the medical staff and there will likely be another update on his status within the next day. Cueto was cruising along before suffering the injury after throwing his second-hardest pitch of the day. He allowed three hits, zero walks and zero runs while striking out four over 5.2 innings and was only at 68 pitches when he exited.

Cueto left Wednesday's game against the Reds with the trainer after 5.2 scoreless innings, Kerry Crowley of The San Jose Mercury News reports.

Cueto struck out four while allowing three hits and was putting together a gem before leaving after 68 pitches. He should be considered questionable to make his start Tuesday in Philadelphia.

Soroka (shoulder) has not begun throwing and does not have a timetable for his return, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

He is rehabbing his shoulder injury but has not advanced to the point where a throwing program is imminent. Soroka is likely fully recovered from his Achilles surgery at this point, but he has not been able to build up at all due to the combination of both injuries.

The Reds transferred Lorenzen (shoulder) to the 60-day injured list Wednesday. He is expected to receive a PRP injection and avoid surgery, Bobby Nightengale of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Though Cincinnati will soon get a boost in the rotation with Sonny Gray (back) on track to make his season debut Saturday, Lorenzen's ongoing recovery from his injury will leave the team without one of its projected starters until at least late May. The Reds haven't suggested that Lorenzen has hit a setback in his rehab program, but the ramp-up process has been slower than anticipated, as he has yet to get back on a mound since being diagnosed with the strained shoulder late in spring training. Lorenzen's extended absence should give Jeff Hoffman a longer leash as Cincinnati's fifth starter.

President of baseball operations Jed Hoyer said Hendricks (illness) is feeling better after being scratched ahead of his scheduled start Tuesday against the Brewers, but the Cubs have yet to determine when he'll be ready to rejoin the rotation, Paul Sullivan of the Chicago Tribune reports.

Hendricks was experiencing symptoms of congestion and was scratched out of an abundance of caution, and since leaving Milwaukee to return to Chicago, he's tested negative for COVID-19. Assuming Hendricks continues to test negative over the next couple of days and his condition keeps improving, he may have a chance to rejoin the rotation during this weekend's series with Atlanta. Alec Mills made a spot start for Hendricks on Tuesday and would line up for another turn Sunday if Hendricks can't go.

Webb will pitch out of the bullpen going forward, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Webb made two starts to begin the regular season and posted a 5.23 ERA and 1.94 WHIP in 10.1 innings. However, Alex Wood (back) is slated to make his season debut as a starter Sunday, so Webb will move to a relief role while Aaron Sanchez remains in the starting rotation. Webb should serve as a long reliever for San Francisco but is expected to remain stretched out in case he's needed as a starter at some point, Mark W. Sanchez of KNBR 680 San Francisco reports.
