Jake Woodford RP | TB
Cardinals' Jake Woodford: Notches second win
Woodford (2-1) allowed one run on six hits over 5.2 innings Monday, striking out six and earning a win over the Cubs.
Woodford cruised through four shutout innings before running into trouble in the fifth. He found himself in a bases-loaded jam with no outs after allowing three straight singles but managed to escape the threat with just one run scoring against him. It was his first start of the season and he turned in a very impressive outing, lowering his season ERA to 4.06 through 31 innings. Woodford is projected to take the mound in Cincinnati this weekend.

Kyle Muller SP | ATH
Braves' Kyle Muller: Monday's start postponed
Muller won't start as scheduled Monday versus the Padres since the game was postponed due to rain.
The young lefty was recalled from Triple-A Gwinnett earlier in the day to make his first big-league start since July 3, but he'll need to wait a bit longer before retaking the mound. The game will be made up via a doubleheader Wednesday, so Muller still figures to start at some point against San Diego, though Atlanta has yet to announce it's updated pitching plans.

Yu Darvish SP | SD
Padres' Yu Darvish: Start postponed by weather
Darvish won't make his scheduled start Monday against the Braves, as the game has been postponed due to inclement weather, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports.
Darvish will have his start moved to Tuesday, per Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune. This puts the possibility for a two-start week in jeopardy, though the Padres have yet to solidify their pitching plans for later in the week.

Clayton Kershaw SP | LAD
Dodgers' Clayton Kershaw: Begins throwing program
Kershaw (forearm) played catch Monday, David Vassegh of AM 570 LA Sports reports.
It's the first time the veteran left-hander has thrown since landing on the injured list with forearm inflammation July 7, so it's a significant step in his rehab work. Kershaw should continue his throwing program in the following days as he'll attempt to rejoin the rotation sometime in August.

Josiah Gray RP | WAS
Dodgers' Josiah Gray: Expecting Tuesday activation
Gray is expected to be promoted to the major-league team ahead of Tuesday's game against San Francisco, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.
The Dodgers don't yet know what role Gray will play in Tuesday's matchup, as it will depend on the bullpen situation following Monday's game. Either way, Gray appears in line to take the mound Tuesday, either as a starter or as a long reliever. The right-hander has posted a 2.87 ERA with 22 punchouts over 15.2 innings at Triple-A Oklahoma City in 2021.

Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Mets' Carlos Carrasco: Another rehab outing on tap
Carrasco (hamstring) will report to Triple-A Syracuse for a rehab start Tuesday, Justin Toscano of The Bergen Record reports.
The veteran right-hander threw 27 pitches over two frames with High-A Brooklyn on Thursday, and he's scheduled to cover about three innings during Tuesday's rehab outing. If all goes well with Syracuse, Carrasco could rejoin the starting rotation Sunday versus the Blue Jays, though the Mets won't make that decision until seeing how the 34-year-old feels after the appearance.

Carlos Martinez SP | SF
Cardinals' Carlos Martinez: Undergoes thumb procedure
Manager Mike Shildt said Monday that Martinez underwent surgery to repair the torn ligament in his right thumb, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.
The 29-year-old is ineligible to return until early September after being moved to the 60-day injured list earlier this month, and there's a chance he misses the rest of the season after undergoing the procedure. If unable to retake the mound in 2021, Martinez will finish the season with a 6.23 ERA, 1.37 WHIP and 57:36 K:BB over 82.1 innings.

Yu Darvish SP | SD
Padres' Yu Darvish: Activated for Monday's start
Darvish (hip) was activated from the 10-day injured list and will start Monday in Atlanta.
The veteran right-hander last pitched July 8 and exited that start early with back and hip tightness, but he's ready to pitch after a brief stint on the injured list. Darvish in effect only ended up pushed back a few days in the rotation thanks to his absence coinciding with the All-Star break. He has a 3.09 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 125:24 K:BB across 105 innings this season.

Stephen Strasburg SP | WAS
Nationals' Stephen Strasburg: Gets back on mound
Strasburg (neck) felt good after a 32-pitch bullpen session Monday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.
Strasburg had been briefly shut down from mound work after some discomfort following a simulated game, but the setback evidently wasn't a major one. Given his lengthy injury history, particularly in the last two years, it's tough to be too confident in his health, but he at least appears to be moving in the right direction again.

Kevin Gausman SP | CHC
Giants' Kevin Gausman: Ready to go
Gausman (personal) returned to the team as expected Monday and was activated off the Family Medical Emergency List ahead of his scheduled start against the Dodgers, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reports.
Gausman's first start of the second half was delayed so that he could be with his wife in the hospital, but he's ready to pitch again now. The Giants will certainly be happy to have him on the hill against the rival Dodgers, who trail them by one game in the standings. Gausman looked like an ace in the first half, riding a 30.5 percent strikeout rate and 6.9 percent walk rate to a 1.73 ERA in 18 starts.
