Manager David Bell said Tuesday that Lorenzen (hamstring) has been able to play catch and could throw a bullpen within the next week to 10 days, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Bell noted that the right-hander isn't yet able to throw off a mound because the hamstring issue is preventing him from pushing off properly. The fact that he's playing catch already is encouraging, however, so it seems likely that his IL stint will be on the shorter side. If Lorenzen is indeed able to get a bullpen session under his belt within the next 10 days, an early-August activation seems within the realm of possibility,

Gray had his contract selected by the Dodgers and will follow opener Darien Nunez versus the Giants on Tuesday, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Gray will make his major-league debut after posting a 2.87 ERA, 0.66 WHIP and 22:2 K:BB over 15.2 innings (four outings) at Triple-A Oklahoma City this season. The 23-year-old completed five frames in only one of his minor-league appearances, but he'll have a better chance of qualifying for a victory since he's following an opener.

Falter was placed on the COVID-19 injured list prior to Tuesday's game, Matt Breen of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Falter is joined by JD Hammer as the new additions on the Phillies' list of players ineligible due to COVID-19 protocols. It's not clear at this point whether Falter has tested positive for the virus, so it remains to be seen how long he'll be sidelined.

The Mets designated Eickhoff for assignment Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Unearned runs were the story of Eickhoff's outing Monday, but he was only able to get through 3.2 innings in the no-decision. His roster spot was required to call up Tuesday's starter, Robert Stock. Eickhoff figures to get another opportunity in the Mets' rotation this season, especially while Jacob deGrom (forearm) is sidelined.

Anderson (shoulder) is feeling better and will be re-evaluated in a few days, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Anderson hit the injured list Friday with right shoulder inflammation and was scheduled to be shut down for 7-to-10 days. Given that he's feeling better, it's possible he hits the short end of that timeframe, which would accelerate his eventual return to the active roster, though that can't be certain until the results of his re-evaluation are known.

Ynoa (hand) will throw live batting practice this week and pitch in a Florida Complex League game next week, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports.

Ynoa continues to make steady progress as he works his way back from the fractured hand he suffered after punching a bench in mid-May. Given the length of his absence, he'll likely need to pitch in multiple rehab games; the team is targeting a return in the second half of August.

Strasburg (neck) threw long toss Tuesday and will throw another bullpen session Thursday or Friday, Mark Zuckerman of MASNSports.com reports.

Strasburg didn't feel right last week and briefly backed off mound work. He's feeling much better now, reportedly, and the fact that he was able to throw long toss one day after Monday's bullpen session certainly seems like an encouraging sign.

Mikolas (forearm) threw 60 pitches of live batting practice Tuesday, Jeff Jones of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

The righty also threw 30 warmup pitches, so he threw roughly 90 in total. Mikolas said he focused more on recapturing the feel for his pitches rather than throwing with full intensity. Assuming he recovers well in the next couple days, Mikolas should be ready to start a lengthy rehab assignment.

Gomber (forearm) will be activated from the 10-day injured list to start Wednesday's game against the Mariners, Patrick Saunders of The Denver Post reports.

The lefty said he felt ready to be activated after tossing 62 pitches during a rehab outing with Triple-A Albuquerque last Friday. He will indeed make his first start Wednesday since suffering the forearm injury June 19, and somewhat surprisingly, he won't be on a strict pitch count. Gomber had been enjoying a spectacular stretch prior to landing on the IL, posting a 1.62 ERA, 0.81 WHIP and 42:3 K:BB in his past eight starts.

Alcantara was placed on the bereavement list Tuesday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Alcantara had been scheduled to start Wednesday in Washington. The Marlins have yet to announce who will start in his place. Players may spend between three and seven days on the bereavement list, so it's possible Alcantara's next start is delayed by only two days, though he could also wind up missing a turn or two in the rotation.
