Gausman was placed on the paternity list Thursday.

Gausman's placement on the paternity list was expected following Wednesday's start in which he allowed an earned run on five hits and no walks while striking out eight in six innings to return to the win column for the first time since July 11. The 30-year-old will be away from the team for several days but should be ready for his next outing, and he tentatively lines up to start at home against the Diamondbacks on Tuesday.

Gray dropped to 7-7 on the season after working six innings and giving up three runs to take a loss Wednesday against the Cubs. He scattered eight hits and a walk and struck out six in the Rockies' 3-2 loss.

Though he looked to be one of the top starting pitchers most likely to be moved prior to last week's trade deadline, Gray ultimately stayed put in Colorado. While Gray couldn't preserve the Rockies' early 2-0 lead, he was mostly able to keep the Chicago bats at bay en route to turning in a quality start for the sixth time in seven outings. His ERA and WHIP now sit at 3.67 and 1.23, respectively.

Senzatela (undisclosed) was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list ahead of Thursday's start against the Cubs.

Senzatela had been on the COVID-19 IL since July 16, but he made a rehab start with the Rockies' rookie-level affiliate Saturday and allowed three hits and no walks while striking out three in four scoreless innings. The right-hander posted a 3.50 ERA and 1.39 WHIP in 18 innings across his three starts prior to the All-Star break,.

Garrett was recalled from Triple-A Jacksonville ahead of Thursday's start against the Mets, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Garrett allowed two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out 10 in seven innings during his most recent major-league start July 24, but he was still sent down following the outing. If he performs well Thursday, the southpaw should have the chance to remain in the rotation since Trevor Rogers (personal), Pablo Lopez (shoulder) and Cody Poteet (knee) are all sidelined.

The Marlins will call up Garrett from Triple-A Jacksonville to start Thursday's game against the Mets, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports.

Expect Miami to make the transaction official shortly before Thursday's 12:10 p.m. ET first pitch. Despite the Marlins rotation having been ravaged by injuries in recent weeks, Garrett was demoted to Triple-A following an outstanding start July 24, during which he limited the Padres to two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out a career-high 10 batters over seven frames. If he can quiet the Mets bats Thursday, Garrett could have a longer leash in the rotation with Trevor Rogers on the Family Medical Emergency list and with Pablo Lopez (shoulder), Cody Poteet (knee) and Elieser Hernandez (quadriceps) on the injured list.

Gausman improved to 10-5 on the season Wednesday after limiting the Diamondbacks to one run on five hits and no walks while striking out eight over six innings in the Giants' 7-1 win. San Francisco manager Gabe Kapler said after the game that Gausman will be placed on the paternity list Thursday while he and his wife await the birth of their second daughter, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports.

After posting an 8.49 ERA and 2.23 WHIP in his first three starts out of the All-Star break, Gausman finally got back on track against the hapless Diamondbacks. With his wife due to give birth Friday, Gausman appears unlikely to make the trip to Milwaukee this weekend for the Giants' three-game series with the Brewers. That said, he should be ready to go when his next turn in the rotation comes up Tuesday or Wednesday, when he'll face the Diamondbacks once again.

Anderson didn't factor into the decision in Wednesday's 9-5 win over the Nationals, giving up three runs on three hits -- all solo home runs -- and a walk over four innings. He struck out one.

The 33-year-old's difficulty keeping the ball in the yard led to an early 3-0 hole for the Phillies, and while Anderson's offense bailed him out, he still exited before he could get credit for a win. With Zach Eflin (knee) potentially close to returning and Ranger Suarez looking good so far as a starter, Anderson's return to the rotation doesn't figure to last long.

Smyly allowed three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two over six innings against the Cardinals on Wednesday. He did not factor in the decision.

The left-hander has gone exactly four innings in each of his past three starts, posting a collective 4.50 ERA and 1.92 WHIP over that span. He didn't fool many Cardinals batters Wednesday, inducing only nine swinging strikes and collecting a mere two punchouts, but Smyly bounced back reasonably well after giving up a three-run homer to Nolan Arenado in the first frame. His recent inability to go deep into contests and mediocre 4.50 ERA and 1.41 WHIP on the campaign make Smyly a rather uninspiring option in mixed fantasy leagues, particularly considering the fact that his K/9 has sunk to 8.0 this season. However, he has built some interest since the start of June with a 3.35 ERA and 5-0 record over 11 games.

Carrasco allowed two earned runs on five hits and no walks while striking out five across 4.1 innings Wednesday against the Marlins. He did not factor into the decision.

Wednesday's start marked Carrasco's second of the season. He didn't build upon his workload much, as he threw only five more pitches and got one additional out as compared to his season debut. As for his actual performance, Carrasco held the Marlins scoreless through four innings but allowed three of the first four batters he faced to reach base to begin the fifth inning. He'll look to continue to build upon his length, though it's clear that Carrasco understandably remains rusty.

Mikolas (forearm) allowed an earned run on four hits and a walk over 4.2 innings in Double-A Springfield's win over Tulsa on Tuesday. He struck out three.

The right-hander bumped his pitch count up to 67 in what was his third straight encouraging rehab start. Assuming Mikolas' previously ailing forearm tolerates the increase in activity level well over the next several days, the veteran's next start could come with the big-league club this weekend.
