Freeland (9-10) took the loss during Tuesday's 6-3 defeat at the hands of the Giants, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits and one walk with four strikeouts in six innings.

Freeland held San Francisco to a single unearned run through five frames but fell behind 3-0 after surrendering three straight doubles in the sixth. Despite snapping a two-start win streak, the 29-year-old continued a solid five-game stretch that features a 1.84 ERA across 29.1 innings. Freeland now possesses a 4.38 ERA and 1.36 WHIP with 121 strikeouts in 160.1 innings across 28 starts. He's currently scheduled to pitch again Sunday at home against San Diego.

Ortiz did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing two runs (one earned) on three hits and two walks over five innings against the Yankees. He struck out five.

Ortiz held the Yankees scoreless through four innings, but an error and a couple of hits in the bottom of the fifth cost Ortiz both an earned run and an unearned run. Even so, he was in line for the victory before the bullpen blew the game. The flamethrowing rookie has looked good for the Pirates so far, allowing just one earned run in 10.2 innings of work with 10 punchouts. He will likely face the Cubs this weekend if he sticks around in the rotation.

Carrasco tossed four innings, giving up three runs on five hits and two walks while striking out four in Tuesday's win over the Brewers. He did factor into the decision.

Carrasco didn't have his best stuff Tuesday, surrendering three runs in the second inning on four hits and a walk. He was able to follow up the difficult frame with two scoreless innings before being removed from the contest after the fourth. The poor outing snapped a two-game quality start streak for the right-hander. Since returning from the 15-day injured list Sept. 4, Carrasco has produced a 2.89 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 23 strikeouts over 18.2 frames in four starts.

Ashby pitched two scoreless innings, allowing one hit and two walks while striking out two in Tuesday's loss to the Mets. He did not factor into the decision.

Ashby was activated from the 15-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's start following a shoulder injury and he was able to hold the Mets scoreless over two frames. The left-hander wasn't expected to handle a full workload and was removed from the contest after tossing 41 pitches. Prior to heading to the IL, Ashby had struggled to a 6.89 ERA over 15.2 innings in his previous three starts. Overall, the 24-year-old owns a 4.48 ERA and 1.43 WHIP with 118 punchouts over 98.1 frames in 24 appearances this season including 18 starts.

Corbin exited Tuesday's start in Atlanta due to back spasms, Paul Mancano of MASNSports.com reports.

Corbin threw just 12 pitches and recorded only two outs before the back spasms forced him to leave Tuesday's contest. The 33-year-old will continue to be evaluated over the next few days, leaving his availability for the next turn through the rotation up in the air.

Morton (9-6) got the win after he pitched 5.1 innings, surrendering one run on three hits and three walks while striking out nine Tuesday versus the Nationals.

Morton returned to form Tuesday, pitching into the sixth inning while striking out at least nine batters for the first time in five starts. The only blemish on his line came in the top of the sixth inning when a run came around to score after he had exited the contest. Morton has had an up-and-down September so far, producing a 3.97 ERA and 1.15 WHIP with 28 strikeouts over 22.2 innings in four starts. The right-hander tentatively lines up to pitch again Sunday on the road versus the Phillies.

Gibson (10-7) took the loss Tuesday against Toronto, allowing seven runs on 12 hits and a walk while striking out three in five innings.

Toronto's lineup got to Gibson early and often, scoring runs in four of his five frames. Five of the hits against him went for extra bases and 13 of the 27 batters he faced reached safely. It's been a disastrous September for Gibson, as he's posted a 9.68 ERA, 2.15 WHIP and 14:6 K:BB in 17.2 innings across four starts and he's seen his ERA rise from 4.08 to 4.71.

Lodolo (4-7) took the loss Tuesday against Boston, allowing three runs on three hits, three walks and three hit batsmen while striking out seven in five innings.

Lodolo allowed one run in each of his last three innings, including solo homers to Rob Refsnyder and J.D. Martinez. He hit three batters Tuesday to bring his season total up to 18 in 92.1 innings. Since the All-Star break, he's compiled a 3.14 ERA, 1.06 WHIP and 82:21 K:BB in 66 innings across 11 starts. His next start will likely be early next week in Pittsburgh.

Corbin was removed from Tuesday's game against Atlanta with an apparent injury, Kevin McAlpin of 680 The Fan Atlanta reports.

Corbin recorded a strikeout, allowed a single and induced popout before he exited Tuesday's contest with the unspecified injury. The veteran left-hander should be considered day-to-day until the team updates his status.

Gore (elbow) will make a rehab start for Triple-A Rochester on Wednesday, Paul Mancano of MASNSports.com reports.

Gore threw 57 pitches over 2.2 frames in his second rehab outing Friday, and he'll continue building up his workload with Rochester on Wednesday. It's possible the 23-year-old is cleared to return from the injured list early next week, which would allow him to make two starts for the Nationals before the end of the season.
