Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol said Quintana and Miles Mikolas will both pitch in Monday's game in Pittsburgh, with both starting pitchers scheduled to work about three innings, Rick Hummel of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports.

Marmol didn't specify which of the two pitchers will be designated as the starter Monday, but whomever works second will presumably have the better chance at factoring into any decision. With St. Louis having already punched its ticket to the postseason, Marmol isn't eager to overextend any of the team's key pitchers in advance of the Cardinals' playoff opener Friday. Since being acquired from the Pirates on Aug. 1, Quintana has posted a 2.11 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 48:15 K:BB across 59.2 innings, giving him a strong case to be included in the Cardinals' three- or four-man playoff rotation.

Bassitt (15-9) took the loss during Sunday's 5-3 defeat to Atlanta, allowing four runs on three hits and three walks with two strikeouts in 2.2 innings.

Bassitt surrendered a Dansby Swanson solo shot in the first inning and navigated a clean second before encountering trouble in the third, loading the bases with two out then permitting a walk and single to prompt his removal. The short outing was the 33-year-old's second in his last four turns, and he's compiled a middling 4.86 ERA in 20.1 innings during the stretch. He concludes the campaign with a 3.42 ERA and 1.14 WHIP with 167 strikeouts in a career-high 181.2 innings across 30 starts.

Morton didn't factor into the decision during Sunday's 5-3 victory over the Mets, allowing three runs on nine hits and one walk with five strikeouts in 4.1 innings.

Morton fell behind early, surrendering multiple baserunners in each of the first three innings with the runs coming across in the second and third, but Atlanta quickly retook the lead and Morton would've earned the win had he recorded two more outs. The 38-year-old scuffled over the last month-plus with a 5.40 ERA in 31.2 innings across six starts, though he compiled a 3-2 record over that stretch. Morton concludes the 2022 regular season with a 4.34 ERA and 1.23 WHIP with 205 strikeouts in 172 innings across 31 starts -- his worst numbers for a full season since 2015.

Davies allowed a run on two hits and five walks while striking out three over five innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Sunday.

Davies was a bit wild in this one, with the five walks marking a season high. He threw just 50 of 91 pitches for strikes in his final start of the year. The right-hander rarely had truly awful starts, but he didn't record a win over his last 20 outings of the campaign, taking four losses and 16 no-decisions. For the year, he finished with a 4.09 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 102:52 K:BB over 134.1 innings across 27 starts.

Wheeler (12-7) allowed two hits over five scoreless innings Sunday, striking out seven and earning a win over the Nationals.

Wheeler tossed 51 of 77 pitches for strikes and managed to punch out seven batters despite forcing just four whiffs. After coughing up 10 runs in two starts before landing on the injured list, the 32-year-old righty has allowed one run across 15 frames in his last three outings. Wheeler ends his 2022 regular season with a strong 2.82 ERA and 163:34 K:BB over 153 innings.

Corbin (6-19) allowed seven runs on 10 hits and three walks over 4.2 innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the Phillies.

Corbin made his first start since Sept. 20 and turned in another poor outing. He gave up just one run through three innings before coughing up six in the fourth and fifth frames combined. The 33-year-old southpaw finishes the 2022 campaign with a brutal 6.31 ERA and 128:49 K:BB through 31 starts. Corbin briefly looked like he turned a corner late in the year; he registered a 2.84 ERA across 31.2 frames in six starts before Sunday's implosion.

Anderson (15-5) took the loss during Sunday's 4-1 defeat at the hands of the Rockies, allowing two runs on six hits with 10 strikeouts in five innings.

Anderson limited the damage to one run in each of the first and third innings despite putting at least one runner on in each of his five frames. The 32-year-old peppered the strike zone with 63 of 86 pitches going for strikes with an impressive 21 of the swinging variety en route to tying his career-high with 10 strikeouts. Anderson concludes a statement 2022 with a 2.57 ERA and 1.00 WHIP -- ranking 11th and 12th in MLB, respectively -- with 138 strikeouts across 178.2 innings in 28 starts and 30 games.

Marquez (9-13) earned the win during Sunday's 4-1 victory over the Dodgers, allowing one run on one hit and three walks with eight strikeouts in six innings.

Marquez was provided an early lead and surrendered his lone run in the third inning on a Cody Bellinger sacrifice fly following a walk and single. The 27-year-old induced an impressive 14 swinging strikes on 86 pitches en route to a season-high eight strikeouts while his 71 game score represented his third-best mark. Marquez concludes the campaign with an even 5.00 ERA and 1.37 WHIP with 150 strikeouts in 181.2 innings across 31 starts.

Snell (8-10) took the loss during Sunday's 2-1 defeat at the hands of the White Sox, allowing one run on three hits and one walk with six strikeouts in six innings.

Snell held Chicago in check until the sixth inning, when a one-out Elvis Andrus solo shot put him in line for the loss. The 29-year-old tossed 60 of 103 pitches for strikes with 12 of the swinging variety. He has surrendered one earned run or fewer in six of his last seven starts, lowering his ERA from 4.14 to 3.38 in the process. Snell concludes the regular season with a 3.38 ERA and 1.20 WHIP with 171 strikeouts in 128 innings across 24 starts. His 12.2 K/9 ranks second among players with at least 70 innings.
