Quintana (0-4) took the loss in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against Atlanta, allowing one run on four hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out four.

The southpaw continues to pitch very well -- he's delivered four straight quality starts after being limited to only five innings in his season debut July 20 -- and continues to have little to show for it due to a lack of run support, as the Mets have been shut out in his last two outings. Quintana will take a 3.03 ERA, 1.28 WHIP and 20:10 K:BB through 29.2 innings into his next start, likely to come next week in St. Louis.

Strider (13-4) picked up the win in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader sweep of the Mets, allowing three hits and four walks over seven scoreless innings in a 6-0 victory. He struck out six.

New York scored only three runs total on the day and none off either of Atlanta's starting pitchers, failing to cash in the opportunities Strider gave them in the nightcap. The right-hander has issued multiple free passes in three straight starts, but he's also delivered quality starts in three of his last four outings. Strider's 4.67 ERA in 34.2 innings since the All-Star break isn't reflected in his 51:13 K:BB or 1.21 WHIP, and he'll look to bring those ratios down further in his next start, likely to come at home next weekend against the Giants.

Matz (4-7) earned the win Saturday, allowing two runs on four hits over six innings in a 5-4 victory over Kansas City. He struck out five.

Matz earned his fourth consecutive quality start, a stretch in which he's 3-0 with a 1.13 ERA and a 19:3 K:BB over 24 innings. His lone blunder Saturday came in the third inning, when he allowed a two-run home run to Nelson Velazquez. Matz is tentatively scheduled to face the Mets, who strike out the fourth-least in MLB but rank 21st in runs scored, in his next start.

Irvin did not factor into the decision Saturday, allowing two runs on seven hits over 6.2 innings in a 3-2 win over the Athletics. He struck out six.

Though the Nationals are planning on monitoring Irvin's workload for the remainder of the season, he threw 99 pitches across 6.2 frames Saturday. He surrendered only a pair of runs, but both came on long balls, as JJ Bleday and Brent Rooker each tagged Irvin for solo homers. Irvin has now allowed a home run in eight of his last nine starts and has served up multiple long balls in four of his last five outings. Despite his power troubles, Irvin owns a palatable 4.76 ERA across 90.2 innings with a 74:36 K:BB. He's tentatively scheduled to take on the Phillies for his next start.

Williamson's scheduled start Saturday against the Pirates was postponed due to inclement weather.

The Pirates and Reds will play a doubleheader Sunday to make up for Saturday's postponed contest, and Williamson will presumably start in one of the two games. The 25-year-old southpaw holds a 4.32 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across his last three starts.

Winans (1-0) picked up the win in the first game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Mets, allowing four hits and two walks over seven scoreless innings. He struck out nine.

Making his second career start in the majors, Winans showed some nerves in the first inning by loading the bases on two walks and a hit-by-pitch, but he escaped the jam and went on to dominate the team that let him go in the minor-league portion of the Rule 5 draft after the 2021 season. Getting massive run support -- Atlanta wound up winning the contest 21-3 -- couldn't have hurt his confidence, either. The right-hander fired 80 of his 111 pitches for strikes, generating an incredible 39 called or swinging strikes along the way despite a fastball that topped out at 90.9 mph. With Yonny Chirinos struggling as the No. 5 starter, Atlanta could have a tough decision to make the next time that spot in the rotation comes around, which figures to be next weekend at home against the Giants.

Teheran (hip) threw a bullpen session Saturday, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Brewers manager Craig Counsell said Saturday's bullpen session would be the first of three for Teheran before he embarks on a rehab assignment. There's still no exact return date in place for the 32-year-old righty, but he seems to be in line for a return toward the end of August.

The Pirates recalled Bido from Triple-A Indianapolis on Saturday.

With Carmen Mlodzinski (elbow) headed for the injured list, Bido will come up from Triple-A to fill the open bullpen spot. Bido holds a 5.35 ERA and 1.46 WHIP through 37 innings in the majors this season and could end up serving as a bulk reliever behind Andre Jackson, who will make his first MLB start Saturday against the Reds but isn't expected to work deep into the contest.

Padres manager Bob Melvin said Friday that Wacha (shoulder) is expected to return from the 15-day injured list to start Tuesday against Baltimore, Sammy Levitt of 97.3 The Fan San Diego reports.

Wacha made his second minor-league rehab outing Thursday, throwing 67 pitches over five innings at the Padres' complex in Arizona. He appears to have come away from that appearance without any issues, as San Diego has penciled him in to return to the rotation Tuesday against the Orioles. Wacha could be on a mild pitch count for that contest given that he hasn't tossed in a big-league game since July 1.

Stroman (hip) threw a 50-pitch bullpen session Friday, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Stroman was placed on the 15-day IL on Aug. 2 with right hip inflammation. Everything went well during his bullpen session Friday, and the 32-year-old righty remains on track to return when eligible Wednesday.
