Luzardo (9-8) allowed two hits and a walk while striking out seven over six shutout innings to earn the win Tuesday over the Padres.

Luzardo was locked in, a significant departure from his last four starts in which he allowed a combined 21 runs (20 earned) over just 17 innings. This was his fifth scoreless outing of the campaign and his first since July 4. He's now at a 3.96 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 167:42 K:BB through 143.1 innings over 26 starts on the year. Luzardo is lined up for a home start versus the Nationals this weekend if the Marlins opt to get by with a four-man rotation in the near term, which is possible with off days Thursday and Monday.

Snell (10-9) allowed three runs on six hits and two walks while striking out eight over six innings to take the loss Tuesday versus the Marlins.

The Padres mustered just three hits and two walks for the game, giving Snell virtually no run support. He was able to come away with his third straight quality start, but he's started to come back to earth with 10 runs allowed over his last 23 innings. For the season, the southpaw has a 2.73 ERA, 1.27 WHIP and 184:80 K:BB through 142 innings over 26 starts. Snell is projected for a favorable road start in St. Louis early next week.

Gray didn't factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing one run on one hit and five walks over six innings in a 2-1 victory over the Yankees. He struck out four.

Despite the control issues, Gray held the Yankees to just one run on a Ben Rortvedt solo homer as he logged his first quality start since July 27. It was an impressive outing from the 25-year-old right-hander, who had struggled to an 11.12 ERA in his previous three outings. Overall, Gray's 7-10 with a 3.85 ERA, 1.44 WHIP and 118:67 K:BB across 25 starts (135.2 innings) this season. He's currently in line to face the Blue Jays on the road in his next outing.

Ashcraft (7-8) earned the win Tuesday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over seven innings against the Angels. He struck out 10.

Ashcraft struggled mightily with the long ball Tuesday, surrendering a trio of solo homers to Brandon Drury, Mike Moustakas and Logan O'Hoppe. However, he was dominant outside of the home runs, giving up no runs on two hits across seven innings of work. The outing was Ashcraft's first career start with double-digit strikeouts and marked his 10th straight appearance allowing three or fewer runs. Over that stretch, Ashcraft owns a 2.35 ERA and a 48:20 K:BB across 65 innings. He's lined up to finish out his two-start week with a road game against the Diamondbacks on Sunday.

Miley did not factor into the decision Tuesday, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk over five innings against the Twins. He struck out four.

After allowing more than two runs once in his previous eight starts, Miley surrendered three earned runs for a second consecutive outing Tuesday. He was tagged for a two-run homer by Christian Vazquez in the second frame, marking the southpaw's third straight appearance giving up a long ball. Despite a couple of hiccups, Miley's been a solid fantasy contributor this season, owning a 6-3 record and a 3.18 ERA across 87.2 innings. Miley's tentatively scheduled to take the mound next during a three-game road series against the Cubs next week.

Miller dropped to 7-3 in Tuesday's 8-3 loss to the Guardians after allowing four earned runs on six hits and a walk while striking out five across 6.1 innings.

Though the Dodgers staked Miller to an early 3-0 lead, the rookie couldn't hold up to his end of the bargain after holding the Guardians scoreless through three frames. He served up a solo home run and allowed another run in the fourth, then allowed consecutive runners to reach base with one out in the bottom of the seventh before he exited the contest. Reliever Caleb Ferguson ended up allowing both inherited runners to score, resulting in Miller being saddled with the loss. After the game, manager Dave Roberts told Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times that Miller won't be pitching in Sunday's series finale in Boston, as the Dodgers want to give the 24-year-old some extra rest coming off the 97-pitch outing. Miller will be denied a two-start week as a result, though he would line up for one the following week. He tentatively lines up to make his next turn Monday versus the Diamondbacks at Dodger Stadium.

Ortiz will start Wednesday against the Cardinals, Jason Mackey of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazettereports.

Ortiz has split the season evenly between Triple-A Indianapolis and the majors, although he hasn't experienced much success at either level. Across 53.2 frames in Pittsburgh, he maintained only a 34:26 K: BB while serving up a 1.8 HR/9. On a positive note, he's worked four or five frames in each of his last five appearances in the minors, so he could work deep enough into the game to qualify for a win if his start goes well.

Davies (back) is scheduled to return from the 15-day injured list to start Saturday at home against the Reds, Theo Mackie of The Arizona Republic reports.

Davies got the go-ahead Tuesday after throwing 87 pitches over six innings in his third and final minor-league rehab outing Sunday with Triple-A Reno. The 30-year-old right-hander has been on the injured list since July 19 due to lower-back inflammation. He's posted a rough 7.38 ERA and 1.62 WHIP across 12 major-league starts this season.

Lodolo was diagnosed Tuesday with another stress reaction in his left tibia and is out indefinitely, Mark Sheldon of MLB.com reports.

Lodolo suffered the setback while making his third minor-league rehab start Sunday with Triple-A Louisville, and it's the same exact injury that has kept him on the shelf since early May. He's seeking a second medical opinion and the Reds aren't commenting further, but the 25-year-old southpaw now seems questionable to return to the major-league rotation before the end of the 2023 regular season.

Rom is tentatively scheduled to start Sunday in Philadelphia, John Denton of MLB.com reports.

Rom struggled in his major-league debut Monday versus the Pirates, yielding eight runs -- six earned -- on eight hits and four walks over just 3.2 innings. He probably would have been sent back to the minors Tuesday under normal circumstances, but the Cardinals need him to fill a rotation spot after placing Matthew Liberatore (back) on the 15-day injured list.
