The Brewers recalled Rea from Triple-A Nashville on Tuesday.

The 33-year-old right-hander returns to Milwaukee's roster as a long reliever with Trevor Megill going on paternity leave. Rea has compiled a 4.78 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 102:38 K:BB in 118.2 innings (21 starts, three relief appearances) this season at the major-league level.

Kelly allowed two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five batters over five innings in a no-decision against the Yankees on Monday.

Kelly got through three scoreless frames before Austin Wells tagged him for a two-run homer in the fourth. Those were the only runs Kelly surrendered, but he departed after five innings having thrown 96 pitches. The right-hander has tossed at least five frames in 28 straight starts after opening the campaign with a 3.2-inning outing against the Dodgers. Kelly is in line for one more start in the regular season, which is tentatively slated to come in Houston this weekend. It could be a huge game and series with both teams currently looking to get into the postseason.

Webb (11-13) allowed a run on nine hits and struck out seven without walking a batter over nine innings, earning the complete-game win Monday over the Padres.

The Giants waited until the eighth inning to give their ace any run support, and he protected the lead himself in the ninth. Webb is no stranger to a lack of help, as he's won just three times in 11 outings since the start of August despite posting eight quality starts in that span. He's now at a 3.25 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 194:31 K:BB through 216 innings over a career-high 33 starts this season. The Giants are still on the outside looking in for a playoff spot, so it's unclear if Webb would pitch in the final series of the season versus the Dodgers if San Francisco is eliminated before his turn comes up again.

Snell allowed four hits and two walks while striking out seven over six scoreless innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Monday.

Snell was again sharp, firing his fifth scoreless outing of six or more innings in his last six starts. He ended up with a second straight no-decision after the Giants got to Robert Suarez in the eighth inning. Snell lowered his ERA to 2.25 with a 1.19 WHIP and 234:99 K:BB through 180 innings over 32 starts this season. He's tentatively lined up for a road start versus the White Sox this weekend, but the Padres may not push their ace for one more outing since their playoff hopes are hanging by a thread after Monday's loss.

Bednar (back) is scheduled to participate for the Scottsdale Scorpions in the Arizona Fall League, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

Since entering the professional ranks in 2021 as a first-round pick out of Mississippi State, Bednar has been limited to just 62.2 regular-season innings in the minors due to a slew of injuries. He made just four appearances in 2023 -- all in the rookie-level Arizona Complex League -- but hadn't pitched since late June while recovering from a stress reaction in his back. The 23-year-old right-hander will look to make up for the innings he lost during the regular season by making a handful of appearances in Arizona.

Stroman is slated to start Thursday's game in Atlanta.

After making his first two appearances as a reliever following his activation from the 15-day injured list Sept. 15, Stroman rejoined the rotation Saturday. However, he was capped at three innings while taking a no-decision against Colorado, giving up three runs on five hits and one walk. Though Stroman will make a second straight turn through the rotation, he could be capped at around 75-to-90 pitches after building up to 64 on Saturday. The Cubs could once again choose to deploy Stroman in tandem with Javier Assad, who tossed four scoreless frames in relief of the right-hander against the Rockies.

Battenfield was optioned to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.

He was up with the Mets only for a couple days and did not make an appearance. Battenfield has been replaced on the roster by Anthony Kay.

The Diamondbacks optioned Cecconi to Triple-A Reno on Monday.

Unless the Diamondbacks place another pitcher on the injured list during the final week of the season and recall him from the minors, Cecconi's 2023 campaign will come to a close. Over multiple stints with the big club this season, Cecconi covered 27 innings over seven appearances (four starts), pitching to a 4.33 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 20:4 K:BB.

Black (3-3) took the loss Sunday against the Cubs, allowing four runs on six hits and three walks while striking out five over 5.1 innings.

Blach struck out the side in the opening frame after walking the first batter he faced and was able to prevent any major damage until the sixth inning. With his third time facing the Cubs' order, the left-hander surrendered consecutive hits to put two runners in scoring position before a sacrifice fly and a two-run blast from Patrick Wisdom plated three runs and abruptly led to a pitching change. Blach's five strikeouts was just the third time he's reached that mark this season, and he's now given up at least four runs in four of his last five starts. The 32-year-old holds a 5.42 ERA, 1.63 WHIP and 46:22 K:BB in 73 innings and lines up for one more start against the Twins.

Wicks (4-1) got the win over the Rockies on Sunday, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk while striking out three over six innings.

Wicks was able to bounce back from his first rough outing of the year with his third quality start in six tries. He surrendered a two-run blast to Brendan Rodgers in the third and then Nolan Jones got to him with a solo shot in the sixth to extend the Rockies' lead to 3-1. The Cubs were able to respond with three runs in the sixth to take the lead and put Wicks in line for the win. The 23-year-old has been fantastic at preventing hard contact and had only allowed one home run prior to Sunday's outing. Wicks now owns a 3.00 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 23:10 K:BB in 33 innings and lines up to make one more regular season start against the Brewers.
