Miller (shoulder) is hopeful to begin throwing again as soon as next week, Jack Harris of the Los Angeles Times reports.

Miller was placed on the 15-day injured list with right shoulder inflammation Saturday, but the right-hander described the injury as "nothing too serious." Manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that the team is optimistic Miller can return to throwing in the next 5-7 days. If the 25-year-old is able to get back on the mound as soon as hoped, his build-up would likely have to be minimal before he returns to the major-league roster.

Sheehan (forearm) has been shut down from throwing by the Dodgers, Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic reports.

Sheehan has been trying to work his way back from a forearm injury that he suffered in mid-March, but manager Dave Roberts said Sunday that the right-hander has been shut down for the time being. Sheehan's arm hasn't been "responding the way they've wanted it to," and it now appears unlikely that he'll have a shot at returning when eligible May 18.

Martinez isn't listed among the Reds' three probable pitchers for the team's series in Seattle that begins Monday, Charlie Goldsmith of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

While manager David Bell hasn't officially said that Martinez has been removed from the Cincinnati rotation, the right-hander's continued absence from the Reds' pitching schedule to begin the week suggests that he's been moved to the bullpen. With Nick Lodolo (calf) returning from the 15-day injured list Saturday with a 10-strikeout gem, Goldsmith relays that the Reds are expected to have Lodolo make his next turn in the team's series opener with the Angels on Friday. Rather than expanding the rotation to six men to keep Martinez on hand as a starter, the Reds seem inclined to let him operate as a multi-inning reliever, a role in which he thrived with the Padres for much of the past season. Martinez had been erratic in his first two starts of the season with Cincinnati, giving up eight earned runs on 14 hits and two walks while striking out nine over 10 innings.

The Mets optioned Jay to Triple-A Syracuse on Sunday.

Following his call-up from Triple-A on Wednesday, Jay's first stint in the big leagues lasted less than a week, with the lefty reliever covering four innings between his two appearances and giving up one earned run on five hits and one walk. The Mets recalled right-hander Grant Hartwig from Syracuse to replace Jay in the bullpen.

Ottenbreit (elbow) struck out five and allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks over 3.2 innings Wednesday in Single-A Clearwater's 8-7 win over Fort Myers.

Ottenbreit spotted 40 of his 71 pitches for strikes in his first appearance in affiliated ball since last July, when he pitched twice for the Phillies' rookie-level Florida Complex League affiliate. Ottenbreit had previously missed nearly all of the 2022 season while recovering from Tommy John surgery, but he appears to be healthy again now that he's resumed pitching for a full-season affiliate.

The Pirates placed Gonzales on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a left forearm muscle strain, Danny Demilio of PittsburghBaseballNow.com reports.

Gonzales was able to turn in his second straight quality start in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Phillies, but he evidently was pitching with an arm injury at some point during that outing and will now be shut down for at least the next two and a half weeks. The Pirates recalled Ryder Ryan from Triple-A Indianapolis to take Gonzales' spot on the active roster and provide a heathy arm out of the bullpen in the short term, but the focus now turns to whom Pittsburgh will tab as the veteran lefty's replacement in the rotation. Top prospect Paul Skenes turned in a dominant 3.1-inning start with Indianapolis on Friday and would line up for Gonzales' spot in the rotation, if the Pirates feel ready to bring the 21-year-old to the majors. Quinn Priester also pitched Saturday for Indianapolis and, unlike Skenes, already has a spot on the 40-man roster, so he could represent another potential Gonzales replacement.

Butto was recalled from Triple-A Syracuse to start Sunday's game against the Royals.

The 26-year-old allowed one run over six frames in a spot start during a doubleheader last week, and he'll rejoin the Mets to start the series finale versus Kansas City. Butto should receive at least a couple turns through the rotation while Tylor Megill (shoulder) is on the injured list.

Turnbull came away with a no-decision Saturday, giving up three runs on four hits and four walks over four-plus innings in a 4-3 win over the Pirates. He struck out three.

The right-hander was looking good through four innings but failed to get an out in the fifth, allowing a leadoff single to Alika Williams, a two-run homer to Oneil Cruz and a walk to Bryan Reynolds before getting the hook. Turnbull tossed 48 of 88 pitches for strikes as he gave up his first earned runs of the season, and through three starts he still sports a 1.80 ERA, 0.93 WHIP and 16:5 K:BB in 15 innings. He'll try to get back on track against a familiar foe, as the former Tiger lines up to make his next start at home next weekend against the White Sox.

The veteran southpaw delivered his second straight quality start and left the game nursing a 3-2 lead, but the Pirates' bullpen couldn't get Gonzales his first win of 2024. He tossed 64 of 90 pitches for strikes, and through his first three outings this season he sports a 2.65 ERA, 1.18 WHIP and 11:5 K:BB over 17 innings. Gonzales will try to get into the win column in his next start, scheduled to come at home next weekend against the Red Sox.

Hall escaped with a no-decision in Saturday's 11-5 win over the Orioles, coughing up five runs on eight hits -- including three home runs -- and a walk over 3.1 innings. He struck out four.

Facing his former team for the first time after being part of the package sent to Milwaukee this offseason for Corbin Burnes, Hall looked more like a sleeper agent as he served up homers to Ryan Mountcastle and Jordan Westburg in the first inning and Adley Rutschman in the third. However, the Brewers' offense kept pace and took the lead for good in the top of the fourth. Hall has had a bumpy conversion to the rotation so far after 28 of his 29 appearances with the O's came out of the bullpen, and through three starts he's stumbled to a 7.11 ERA, 2.13 WHIP and 10:5 K:BB in 12.2 innings. The 25-year-old southpaw lines up to make his next start on the road next weekend in St. Louis.
