Feltner (1-3) suffered the loss Sunday, allowing five runs on eight hits over 5.2 innings against the Pirates. He struck out three.

Feltner was in line for the win through five innings, having allowed only one run to that point, but he allowed four runs on five hits in the sixth, with the damage including a couple of doubles and a blast by Oneil Cruz that helped seal Feltner's fate. Feltner was coming off a career-best eight-plus inning performance in his last start but eventually ran out of gas against a Pirates squad that had managed only three runs during the first two games of the series. Feltner will carry a 5.54 ERA and 1.46 ERA into his next start, tentatively lined up for next weekend when the Rangers come to the Mile High City for a three-game set.

Falter did not factor into the decision, allowing three runs on six hits and two walks over 5.1 innings Sunday against the Rockies. He struck out three.

Falter allowed three consecutive extra-base hits, including back-to-back homers, in the second inning, resulting in three runs crossing the plate. However, he was able to keep the Pirates in the game, working his way through 5.1 frames without allowing any additional damage. Falter has tossed at least five innings in six of seven starts this season while allowing three or fewer runs in five of those games for an ERA of 4.34 with a quality 1.02 WHIP. Despite his general effectiveness, Falter's spot in the rotation appears shaky as Pirates top-prospect Paul Skenes also pitched Sunday in Triple-A with a call to the majors likely not far off for the highly-touted righty. When Skenes does receive the call, it will likely be either Falter or Quinn Priester who is likely to lose a rotation spot with the currently injured Marco Gonzales also muddying up the waters further if he eventually returns from a forearm issue that's kept him sidelined since April 14.

Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said Sunday that Rodriguez (shoulder) will undergo an MRI this week to check his recovery progress, after which he could be cleared to resume a throwing program, Nick Piecoro of The Arizona Republic reports.

The left-hander was shut down from throwing in mid-April after he experienced renewed tightness in his shoulder, but Lovullo said the left-hander has recently been "feeling good." Rodriguez will require a lengthy build-up period before embarking on a minor-league rehab assignment, so he's likely at least a month away from making his season debut.

The Giants recalled Jefferies from Triple-A Sacramento on Sunday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Jefferies was demoted Thursday but will quickly rejoin the major-league club. The right-hander is taking the bullpen spot of Mitch White, who was designated for assignment. Blake Snell's (thigh) spot in the rotation comes back around Monday against the Phillies, and Jefferies could provide some length.

The Padres recalled Vasquez from Triple-A El Paso on Sunday.

The right-hander was optioned to El Paso on April 26 after making a couple starts for San Diego, and he'll rejoin the big club Sunday since Joe Musgrove (elbow) landed on the injured list. Vasquez allowed five earned runs with a 5:3 K:BB over 7.2 frames in his two outings and could step into the rotation for Musgrove, who had been scheduled to pitch Tuesday against the Cubs.

The Padres placed Musgrove on the 15-day injured list Sunday with right elbow inflammation.

Musgrove was expected to start Tuesday against the Cubs but will now be sidelined for at least the next couple weeks. It's unclear when the injury surfaced for the right-hander, who struck out nine and allowed two runs over six innings his last time out versus the Cubs. According to Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune, there's hope Musgrove will be able to return from the injured list when first eligible May 17 in Atlanta. Randy Vasquez was recalled in a corresponding move and could step into the rotation for San Diego.

Hughes was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Sunday.

Hughes joined the big-league roster at the end of April and started out with two scoreless appearances, but he surrendered four runs while recording just one out Saturday versus the Padres. Ryne Nelson (elbow) was activated from the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Peralta implied that he could drop his appeal of a five-game suspension following his start Sunday against the Cubs, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Peralta was handed the ban Wednesday after he was deemed to have intentionally thrown at Rays outfielder Jose Siri in Tuesday's 8-2 win. The right-hander was ejected from the game immediately after hitting Siri, who then exchanged punches with Brewers reliever Abner Uribe following his next plate appearance in the eighth inning, inciting a benches-clearing brawl. Peralta seemingly appealed the suspension to give the Brewers more time to prepare for his absence, as it doesn't sound as though he's expecting a reduction in his five-game ban following the appeal process. With that in mind, fantasy managers should prepare for Peralta to have his next turn through the rotation skipped, with Milwaukee preparing to turn to a spot starter Friday in St. Louis. Robert Gasser is scheduled to pitch Sunday for Triple-A Nashville and could be called up to fill the void for Peralta on Friday, though manager Pat Murphy also floated the possibility of that game being treated as a bullpen day, per Hogg.

The Diamondbacks activated Nelson (elbow) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his start against the Padres on Sunday.

The right-hander has been sidelined the past couple weeks by an elbow bruise but is rejoining Arizona's rotation Sunday. Nelson could face some minor workload limitations given he hasn't pitched in a game since April 18.

Senga (shoulder) completed a 32-pitch live batting practice session Saturday, Abbey Mastracco of the New York Daily News reports.

Facing hitters in extended live BP session marks a major milestone in Senga's recovery from a right posterior shoulder capsule strain, which caused him to miss most of spring training and resulted in him opening the season on the 15-day injured list before he was shifted to the 60-day IL on April 10. He won't be eligible to make his season debut until May 27, but Senga appears on target to return on or around that date based on where he currently stands in his recovery. The Mets will see how he bounces back from Saturday's throwing session over the next couple of days before deciding whether he's ready to report to a minor-league affiliate to begin a rehab assignment, or if he'll need to throw another live BP before doing so.
