  • Joe Ryan SP | MIN

Twins' Joe Ryan: Fans eight in tough loss

Ryan (6-7) allowed three runs on four hits and one walk while striking out eight over six innings Saturday, taking the loss versus the Tigers.

Ryan took a 2-1 lead into the sixth inning but couldn't hold it as he allowed the go-ahead runs to score and ended up being tagged with the loss. Ryan has allowed three or more runs in four straight starts, but despite the low win total, he continues to make up for it with solid strikeout numbers. The 28-year-old has five or more strikeouts in nine straight starts, and his 138 punchouts this season are tied for ninth most in MLB.

  • Dean Kremer SP | BAL

Orioles' Dean Kremer: Logs quality start in loss

Kremer (4-7) took the loss against the Padres on Saturday, allowing four runs (one earned) on seven hits and one walk with seven strikeouts over six innings.

Kremer yielded four runs but three were the result of two-out errors. He was able to reach a season-high 105 pitches and logged his first quality start since May 5. On the year, the 28-year-old owns a 4.20 ERA, 1.23 WHIP and 73:29 K:BB across 75 innings and lines up for a road matchup with the Guardians next week.

  • Bryan Woo SP | SEA

Mariners' Bryan Woo: Early exit with hamstring pain

Woo experienced discomfort in his right hamstring during Saturday's start against the White Sox but isn't expected to miss his next start, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports. Woo allowed one unearned run on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts across four innings.

Woo was removed after 70 pitches and reported pain in his right hamstring, the same hamstring he strained in mid-June that required an IL stint. Saturday's start was Woo's third since being activated from the injured list and he's still expected to make his next start, which is tentatively scheduled to come Friday against the Phillies. Still, considering the touchy nature of the injury, fantasy managers should keep an eye on Woo's status leading up to his next start.

  • Tarik Skubal SP | DET

Tigers' Tarik Skubal: Picks up 12th win

Skubal (12-3) earned the win against the Twins on Saturday, allowing two runs on five hits and two walks with eight strikeouts over seven innings.

Skubal allowed a two-run homer to Royce Lewis in the first inning and proceeded to shut down the Twins over the next six frames. Skubal has won both his starts after the All-Star break, going at least seven innings in back-to-back starts for the first time this season. His 12 wins this season are tied for the most in the American League and the most by a Tigers pitcher before August since 2014 when Max Scherzer and Rick Porcello did it.

  • Joey Cantillo SP | CLE

Guardians' Joey Cantillo: Set for MLB debut

Cantillo is expected to be called up from Triple-A Columbus to start Sunday's game against the Phillies, Zack Meisel of The Athletic reports.

Cantillo has joined the Guardians in Philadelphia, but his move to the active roster has yet to be confirmed. The 24-year-old owns a 2.79 ERA in 29 innings for Columbus but will face a stout Phillies lineup in his MLB debut. The left-hander has a 12.1 K/9 at Triple-A this season.

  • Rangers' Michael Lorenzen: Can't escape first inning in loss

Lorenzen (5-6) took the loss against the Blue Jays on Saturday, allowing four runs on five hits and two walks with one strikeout over two-thirds of an inning.

Lorenzen retired the first two batters he faced but things unraveled quickly, as he allowed seven consecutive baserunners and four runs before being pulled at 40 pitches. The 32-year-old's velocity was down on each of his offerings, and he has now yielded four earned runs or more in three of his past five starts. On the season, he owns a 3.87 ERA, 1.30 WHIP and 74:48 K:BB over 97.2 innings and lines up for a home matchup with the Red Sox next week.

  • Kevin Gausman SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Strikes out eight in complete game

Gausman (9-8) earned the win against the Rangers on Saturday, allowing three runs on four hits and three walks with eight strikeouts over nine innings.

Gausman yielded three runs over the first three innings but rebounded with six scoreless frames to record his second complete game of the season. He threw 81 of 118 pitches for strikes and retired 18 consecutive batters at one point before walking Nathaniel Lowe in the ninth. The 33-year-old registered three wins and three quality starts in four July outings and now owns a 4.44 ERA, 1.26 WHIP and 117:33 K:BB across 119.2 innings this year. He'll try to carry this momentum into a road matchup with the Yankees next week.

  • Rays' Tyler Alexander: Set for bulk relief Sunday

Alexander is expected to serve as a bulk reliever for Sunday's game against the Reds, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Alexander will follow opener Shawn Armstrong, who's slated to cover one or two innings before exiting the contest. The lefty threw three innings of bulk relief in his last appearance Tuesday against the Blue Jays and owns a 5.88 ERA in 59.2 innings in the majors this season.

  • Angels' Samuel Aldegheri: Dealt to Halos

The Angels acquired Aldegheri and right-hander George Klassen from the Phillies on Saturday in exchange for right-hander Carlos Estevez, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

Aldegheri was promoted to Double-A Reading in early July and made a pair of starts, logging a 3.60 ERA with a 14:4 K:BB in 10 innings. The 22-year-old lefty immediately becomes one of the Angels' top pitching prospects and will likely report to their Double-A affiliate at Rocket City.

  • George Klassen SP | LAA

Angels' George Klassen: Dealt to Angels

The Angels acquired Klassen and left-hander Samuel Aldegheri from the Phillies on Saturday in exchange for right-hander Carlos Estevez, Scott Lauber of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

One of the Phillies' top pitching prospects, Klassen dominated at the Single-A level to start the 2024 season, posting a 0.71 ERA in 38 innings before being promoted to High-A Jersey Shore. The 22-year-old had turned in a 4.22 ERA with 32 strikeouts in 21.1 innings at the High-A level.
