The Blue Jays reinstated Scherzer (back/thumb) from the 15-day injured list ahead of his scheduled start Monday in Washington.

Scherzer will be making just his seventh start of the season for the Blue Jays and his first since June 10 after an extended stay on the shelf due to back spasms in addition to a thumb issue that cropped up during his rehab. The veteran righty surrendered seven runs (six earned) over the first two starts of his rehab assignment, but he proved that he was ready to rejoin the big club after striking out seven over five perfect innings during his most recent outing with Triple-A Buffalo last Wednesday. Scherzer tossed 56 pitches in that rehab start, so he'll likely be in store for a suppressed workload Monday as he slots back into the Toronto rotation.

Montero is slated to start Monday's game against the Orioles in Detroit, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.

Montero had made five straight appearances out of the Detroit bullpen before being thrust into the rotation last Wednesday in Chicago. The right-hander turned in a gem of an outing in a win over the Cubs, striking out eight batters across 5.1 innings while permitting just one earned run on three hits and no walks. Though Jack Flaherty (forearm) is reportedly eyeing a minimum-length stay on the 15-day injured list, Montero will serve as the Tigers' No. 5 starter for the time being and tentatively lines up for a two-start week. After Monday's outing, Montero is on track to take the hill again during Sunday's series finale versus the Athletics in hitter-friendly Sacramento.

Tiedemann (elbow/neck) gave up one hit and struck out two over a scoreless inning in a rehab appearance for Single-A Dunedin on Sunday.

The 23-year-old southpaw hadn't seen game action since June 20 due to neck discomfort that required injections to alleviate, but Tiedemann was back on a mound Sunday and flashing impressive raw stuff once again. According to Keegan Matheson of MLB.com, Tiedemann's fastball averaged 96.4 mph and topped out at 97.7 mph. He's still in the process of getting ramped up following July 2024 Tommy John surgery, and the Blue Jays plan to have him work out of the bullpen for the rest of the season before re-evaluating his future role in 2027. He'll be moved up to Triple-A Buffalo once his rehab stint is over, and if he avoids any further setbacks, he could make his big-league debut in September.

Warren (7-5) took the loss Sunday, allowing six runs on six hits and two walks over three-plus innings against the Phillies. He struck out five.

Warren endured his shortest start of the year, allowing six runs to match a season high. Sunday marked the right-hander's first start after the All-Star break, as he was used in relief in the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader. The 27-year-old hasn't earned a win since May 31 and will take a 4.41 ERA, 1.41 WHIP and 102:36 K:BB across 102 innings (21 appearances) into his next start, tentatively slated for Friday on the road against the Cubs.

Soriano (9-6) earned the win Sunday, allowing one unearned run on three hits and three walks over five innings in a 4-3 win over San Francisco. He struck out five.

Soriano was lifted after five frames at 85 pitches (47 strikes), but he was able to keep the San Francisco offense quiet en route to picking up his first win since June 13. After a disastrous stretch on the mound during May and June, the right-hander has found his footing a bit in July, posting a 2.74 ERA and 0.96 WHIP across 23 innings (four starts), though his strikeout production has dipped a bit this month. Overall, Soriano owns a 3.29 ERA, 1.25 WHIP and 127:57 K:BB across 123 innings (22 starts) and is tentatively scheduled to make his next start Saturday against Milwaukee.

DeGrom did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing one run on seven hits and no walks over five-plus innings against Seattle. He struck out four.

DeGrom fired off five frames of one-run ball before allowing a pair of singles to open the sixth frame, prompting the Rangers to pull him at 90 pitches (66 strikes) in favor of Robby Ahlstrom. Ahlstrom closed the inning with no damage to preserve a 3-1 advantage, though struggles from the relievers after him kept Texas and deGrom from picking up the win. The 38-year-old hasn't put up the elite numbers he's regularly produced throughout his big-league career, but the two-time Cy Young Award winner has still been plenty serviceable in 2026. DeGrom, who will likely finish July winless, will take a 7-6 record with a 3.67 ERA, 1.07 WHIP and 132:24 K:BB across 110.1 innings (20 starts) into his next outing, lined up for next weekend on the road in Houston.

Gilbert did not factor into the decision Sunday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over 5.2 innings in a 6-4 win over the Rangers. He struck out four.

Gilbert wasn't at his best but was still serviceable, falling one out shy of recording a quality start. Known for his ability to generate whiffs, the right-hander's four strikeouts marked his fewest since May 4 and was just the fourth time he hasn't racked up at least five punchouts this season. The 29-year-old will take an 8-6 record with a 3.44 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 133:27 K:BB across 125.2 innings (21 starts) into his next outing, tentatively scheduled for Saturday against the Twins.

Fedde did not factor into the decision Sunday against the Astros, allowing three runs on five hits and one walk while striking out two over 4.1 innings.

Fedde was hurt by the long ball Sunday, surrendering three home runs. Jeremy Pena took him deep twice, including a leadoff blast to begin the game, while Taylor Trammell added a solo shot of his own in the fifth inning. It marked the first time since May 12 that Fedde has allowed multiple home runs in a start. After compiling a 5.40 ERA and 0-5 record through his first 11 starts, Fedde has now gone 5-1 with a 2.93 ERA over his last 10 outings. He's scheduled to make his next start Friday on the road against the Rays.

Springs was removed in the second inning of Sunday's 11-8 loss to the Twins due to right hip discomfort, MLB.com reports.

Springs dropped to 3-11 on the season and was charged with five runs allowed (four earned) on four hits and one walk over 1.1 innings in his start before exiting the contest. The Athletics will likely evaluate Springs further over the next day or two before deciding if he's available to make his next turn through the rotation, which would tentatively fall Friday versus the Tigers in Sacramento. Luis Morales tossed 4.2 innings of long relief Sunday and would be a logical choice to enter the rotation if Springs needs to miss a start.

Avila took a no-decision Sunday against the Tigers, allowing three runs (two earned) on four hits and four walks in 4.1 innings. He struck out four.

Avila struggled for efficiency Sunday, as he was unable to complete five innings despite throwing 89 pitches (50 strikes). The 24-year-old right-hander has battled control issues all season long and particularly as of late -- he's issued at least three walks in seven of his last 10 starts and four free passes on three occasions during that span. Avila is unlikely to have much streaming appeal for his next scheduled outing in Colorado, where he'll take a 4.81 ERA, 1.57 WHIP and an alarming 59:39 K:BB over 67.1 innings.
