  • Alex Faedo SP | TB

    Rays' Alex Faedo: Ramping up

Faedo (shoulder) is scheduled to throw live batting practice May 6, MLB.com reports.

Faedo has been sidelined since March 21 due to the shoulder injury and is restarting his ramp-up process. He'll be out until at least late May, though he'll serve as a multi-inning reliever upon his return and may not need a full 30-day rehab assignment to be deemed MLB ready.

  • Yusei Kikuchi SP | LAA

Angels' Yusei Kikuchi: Fans five in no-decision

Kikuchi didn't factor into the decision Thursday against Detroit after allowing two runs on five hits and one walk in five innings. He struck out five.

Both of Kikuchi's runs allowed came via solo homers, with one coming on a third-inning shot by Javier Baez and another on a fourth-inning blast by Gleyber Torres. It was still an encouraging bounce-back effort overall by the left-hander, who yielded a lone walk after lending a whopping 18 free passes over 25.1 frames in April. Kikuchi will look to further improve his 4.21 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 33:19 K:BB across 36.1 frames in a tough matchup next week versus the Blue Jays, who entered Wednesday with a .758 OPS against left-handed pitching this season.

  • Casey Mize SP | DET

Tigers' Casey Mize: Comes away with fifth win

Mize (5-1) earned the win Thursday against the Angels after allowing four runs on seven hits and two walks in seven innings. He struck out four.

Although he tied a season high with four runs and two homers allowed, Mize hurled seven innings Thursday for the second time this season. The long ball has been an issue for the right-hander over his last four starts, during which he's been taken deep six times over 25 innings. Despite those shortcomings, Mize has maintained a strong 2.70 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 27:9 K:BB across 36.2 frames in 2025, but he's next slated for a tough assignment at hitter-friendly Coors Field against the Rockies.

  • Twins' Simeon Woods Richardson: Walks five in no-decision

Woods Richardson did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Guardians, allowing two runs on two hits and five walks over 4.2 innings. He struck out four.

The five walks marked a season-high for Woods Richardson, though he managed to hold Cleveland to a lone first-inning run before Jhonkensy Noel tacked on a solo homer in the fourth. Overall, Woods Richardson is 2-2 on the season with a 4.03 ERA, 1.45 WHIP and 30:11 K:BB across 29 innings. The 24-year-old right-hander is currently lined up for a home matchup with the Orioles in his next start.

  • Ben Lively SP | CLE

Guardians' Ben Lively: Solid in no-decision

Lively did not factor into the decision in Thursday's 4-3 extra-inning win over the Twins. He allowed five hits over 5.2 scoreless innings, striking out two.

It's been an up-and-down start to the year for Lively. He's now held opponents scoreless in three of his seven starts, though he's allowed 15 runs over 19.2 frames in his other four outings. Overall, the 33-year-old Lively sports a 3.72 ERA with a 1.27 WHIP and 25:11 K:BB across 36.1 innings. He's currently in line to face the Nationals on the road in his next outing.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Blue Jays' Jose Berrios: Throws 6.2 strong innings Thursday

Berrios didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Red Sox after allowing two runs on seven hits and one walk in 6.2 innings. He struck out eight.

Berrios presented strong swing-and-miss stuff, generating 13 whiffs and tying a season high with eight punchouts, as he also matched a season low with one walk. The right-hander created a bases-loaded jam in the fifth inning, but he was at least able to limit the damage to a two-run double by Alex Bregman before escaping the frame. Berrios owns a pedestrian 3.98 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 36:16 K:BB over 40.2 innings ahead of a scheduled road tilt against the Angels, who rank fifth in home runs (41) but sit last in on-base percentage (.271) as a team.

  • Tanner Houck SP | BOS

Red Sox's Tanner Houck: Rise in velocity in no-decision

Houck didn't factor into the decision Thursday against the Blue Jays after allowing one run on four hits and no walks in seven innings. He struck out six.

Houck's velocity was up Thursday, as he touched 97 mph on 10 of his sinker pitches, and it yielded perhaps his finest effort of the season thus far. It was the first time this year that the right-hander threw at least seven innings, and he didn't allow a runner to advance past first base until Daulton Varsho tagged him for a solo home run in the seventh frame. Houck is still recovering from a 12-run bludgeoning at the hands of the Rays on April 14, as evidenced by his bloated 6.38 ERA and 1.47 WHIP across 36 innings in 2025, but he has a 30:12 K:BB over seven starts and appears to be trending up ahead of a scheduled home matchup versus an underperforming Rangers lineup.

  • Athletics' Jeffrey Springs: Limits Rangers to three baserunners

Springs (4-3) earned the win against the Rangers on Thursday, allowing two hits and one walk while striking out one over six scoreless innings.

Springs ran into a bit of trouble in the fifth inning with runners on second and third, but he struck out Tucker Barnhart to escape the frame unscathed. Springs faced the minimum number of batters in four of six innings, tossing just 68 pitches (45 strikes) while inducing 12 flyball outs. Thursday marked his third quality start of the season and second six-frame shutout. Springs is in line to face the Mariners at home next week.

  • Tyler Mahle SP | SF

Rangers' Tyler Mahle: Takes loss despite quality start

Mahle (3-1) came away with the loss against the Athletics on Thursday, allowing one run on five hits and one walk while striking out six over six innings.

Mahle gave up an RBI single to Miguel Andujar in the first inning, but the former stranded baserunners on the corners to limit the damage to one run. Mahle retired 12 straight batters over the next five scoreless frames, but he was still tagged with the loss as the Rangers' bats fell silent against Jeffrey Springs and the A's bullpen. Mahle has four quality starts over his last five outings, and his 1.19 ERA over 37.2 innings is tied with Max Fried for second best in the majors behind Yoshinobu Yamamoto (1.06) among qualified starters. Mahle is lined up to face the Red Sox at Fenway Park next week.

  • Sean Burke SP | CHW

White Sox's Sean Burke: Tosses six scoreless innings

Burke (2-4) earned the win against the Brewers on Thursday, allowing two hits and three walks while striking out five over six scoreless innings.

Three of the six baserunners Burke allowed came in the first inning, but he was able to escape a bases-loaded situation after getting Rhys Hoskins to fly out. Burke proceeded to retire the minimum number of batters in four of the next five frames and came away with his second quality start of the season on 94 pitches (58 strikes) while generating 10 whiffs. His efforts Thursday dropped his ERA and WHIP to 4.91 and 1.36, respectively, over 33 innings. Burke will look to make it two wins in a row in his next start, tentatively slated for next week on the road against the Royals.
