  • Marcus Stroman SP | NYY

Blue Jays' Marcus Stroman: Strikes out 13 in no-decision against Astros

Stroman allowed just one run on three hits and a walk and struck out 13 over seven innings in a no-decision Monday against the Astros.

Stroman has been finding a bit of a groove of late, with four quality starts in his past six appearances. This one was by far his best of the season, as he topped his previous season high of nine strikeouts set back on May 1 against the Rays. Stroman owns a brilliant 43:5 K:BB and a 3.29 ERA in his past 41 innings as it looks like he's putting it together just in time for the stretch run.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Mariners' James Paxton: Doesn't factor in decision despite strong outing against Red Sox

Paxton came up empty in a brilliant effort, finishing with a no-decision in Monday's 2-1 loss to the Red Sox despite holding them to just one run on four hits while striking out six without a walk over eight innings.

Paxton and Eduardo Rodriguez were both matching zeroes for a while, but the Boston starter finally blinked in the bottom of the seventh and gave up an RBI double to Dae-Ho Lee. The Mariners lefty sadly couldn't make the lead hold up, giving up a solo homer to Aaron Hill in the next frame. He still pitched well enough to win on most nights, and has now accrued an outstanding 21:2 K:BB over his last three appearances. A home matchup with a less explosive but still dangerous Angels offense should yield another strong start for the southpaw Saturday.

  • Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Takes no-decision despite strong effort in Seattle

Rodriguez didn't factor into the decision Monday in Seattle despite limiting the Mariners to just one run on three hits and two walks while striking six in 6.1 innings

Rodriguez pitched into the seventh without giving up a run, at which point he was actually bailed out by reliever Robby Ross Jr. after leaving with one out and runners on second and third. That proved to be the key moment in the game, as an Aaron Hill homer tied it in the very next inning before Mookie Betts' blast put Boston ahead for good in the ninth. Still, the team's inability to get its normally potent offense going until late cost the southpaw a chance at a victory. Rodriguez is scheduled to take the mound in an even more pitcher-friendly environment next time out, as the Red Sox will be at Dodger Stadium on Saturday.

  • Jose Berrios SP | TOR

Twins' Jose Berrios: Earns win in return to majors

Berrios (2-1) allowed three runs on four hits and struck out five over six innings in a win Monday over Cleveland.

Berrios failed to record a quality start in four chances in his first major league stint earlier this year, and in his return, he managed to do it against one of the American League's strongest teams. Most impressively, he didn't walk a batter. Control was the major failure of his first four career starts, as he walked 12 batters in just 15 innings. If he can continue to find the zone with regularity, he'll have a chance to succeed quickly.

  • Frankie Montas RP | NYM

Athletics' Frankie Montas: May not pitch until Arizona Fall League

Montas may not pitch for the Athletics in the 2016 season due to rib injuries, but may return for the Arizona Fall League, Joe Stiglich of Comcast SportsNet reports.

Montas has been limited to just 16 minor league innings due to multiple rib injuries in 2016. Rather than rushing him back for a September cup of coffee in the majors, the Athletics are going to play it slow with the 23-year-old right-hander. He posted a 2.97 ERA with 108 strikeouts over 112 innings at Double-A in 2015.

  • Tommy Milone SP | SEA

Twins' Tommy Milone: Moves to bullpen

Milone will move to the bullpen with Tyler Duffey set to start Wednesday against Cleveland.

It's a surprise that Duffey -- who's struggled this year -- will move back to the rotation in place of Milone, but the Twins are likely looking toward 2017 with this move. Still, Milone could be back in the rotation or used as a spot starter at some point.

  • Rays' Michael Santos: Dealt to Rays

Santos was traded to the Rays on Monday as part of the package for Matt Moore, Jeff Passan of Yahoo! Sports reports.

Durability concerns surround the 6-foot-4, 170-pound Santos, but he features an intriguing repertoire of pitches (fastball, curveball, slider, changeup) and he's able to consistently repeat his delivery, which allows for plus control/command. He's posted a 2.91 ERA, 1.13 WHIP and 44:5 K:BB in 10 starts for Low-A Augusta this season as a 21-year-old, putting him on track to advance to the High-A level early next year.

  • Joe Musgrove SP | SD

Astros' Joe Musgrove: Promoted from Triple-A

Musgrove was promoted from Triple-A Fresno on Monday, Jake Kaplan of the Houston Chronicle reports.

The Astros sent Scott Feldman to Toronto on Monday, so Musgrove will come up to fill the vacancy on the 25-man roster. The right-hander, who's never pitched in a major league game, has split the season between Double and Triple-A. In 10 starts for Fresno, Musgrove holds a 3.81 ERA and 1.14 WHIP.

  • Alex Meyer SP | LAA

Angels' Alex Meyer: Traded to Angels

Meyer was traded to the Angels along with Ricky Nolasco and cash for Hector Santiago and Alan Busenitz, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Meyer hasn't pitched since May 3 due to shoulder inflammation, although he recently started playing catch. The 2011 first-round draft pick was once Minnesota's top starting pitching prospect, but struggled in the majors and moved to the bullpen. He moved back to the rotation this spring before his shoulder injury. It's not clear whether the Angels regard him as a starter or reliever, but he still has some time to fulfill his promise, as he's just 26 years old.

  • Ricky Nolasco SP | ARI

Angels' Ricky Nolasco: Traded to Angels

Nolasco was traded to the Angels on Monday, Alden Gonzalez of MLB.com reports.

The Angels are also receiving Alex Meyer in the trade, which sends Hector Santiago to Minnesota along with reliever Alan Busenitz. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed, but the Twins are believed to be sending cash to the Angels to offset some of the remaining money on Nolasco's contract, which runs through the end of 2017. Nolasco figures to slot into an Angels rotation that has been ravaged by injuries this season.
