Adalberto Mejia SP | MIN
Twins' Adalberto Mejia: Expected to be recalled
Mejia is expected to be recalled Saturday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.
Mejia has already joined the Twins, but the team hasn't yet added him to the major league roster. An announcement should come later Saturday, with the expectation that Kennys Vargas will be the player optioned to free up a spot on the roster. Mejia, who was acquired from the Giants on July 28, holds a 4.66 ERA and 1.24 WHIP across 19.1 innings with Triple-A Rochester.

Jose Berrios SP | TOR
Twins' Jose Berrios: Struggles in August continue
Berrios struck out two and gave up four runs over four innings in a no-decision against the Royals on Saturday.
Berrios had his start cut short by a rain delay, but he may not have lasted much longer anyway. He's continued to struggle in the majors, as he's given up 16 earned runs in 17 innings in August. The Twins will likely leave their top pitching prospect in the rotation, however, so that he can learn to pitch in the majors.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Rangers' Cole Hamels: Mows down 10 Rays in Friday victory
Hamels (13-4) mowed down 10 Rays while allowing just an earned run on three hits and two walks over 7.1 innings in Friday's 6-2 victory.
The veteran southpaw was in vintage form, firing 69 of 104 pitches for strikes and notching an impressive 15 swinging strikes overall. Hamels now has five straight quality starts, but he's only 2-2 over that span due to a lack of run support in some of those appearances. He'll look to keep his solid stretch of pitching going when he takes on the Reds next Wednesday.

Wade Miley SP | CIN
Orioles' Wade Miley: Taken apart by Astros in Friday start
Miley didn't factor into the decision against the Astros on Friday, giving up six earned runs on six hits over 1.2 innings while striking out five.
The veteran couldn't get anything going during his brief time on the mound and lasted just 44 pitches before getting the hook. Miley's troubles started from the first batter, as George Springer led off the game with a 404-foot solo shot to right. Matters only got worse in the second, when Tyler White drove in Evan Gattis with a two-bagger and Teoscar followed with a run-scoring single that brought White home. After plunking Springer, Alex Bregman and Jose Altuve finished off Miley with back-to-back RBI doubles that tallied three more runs on his ledger. The 29-year-old is 0-2 over his first four trips to the mound in August and will try to bounce back against the Nationals next Wednesday.

Eduardo Rodriguez SP | ARI
Red Sox's Eduardo Rodriguez: Throws bullpen session Friday
Rodriguez (hamstring) made it through Friday's bullpen session without incident and will start Sunday's series finale in Detroit, Tim Britton of the Providence Journal reports.
Rodriguez left his previous start after four innings when he felt some tightness in his left hamstring, but he'll be able to return without missing a start.

Henderson Alvarez SP | WAS
Athletics' Henderson Alvarez: Set to throw bullpen session Saturday
Alvarez (shoulder) will throw a bullpen session Saturday, Jane Lee of MLB.com reports.
Alvarez has had a lengthy recovery process, but he seems to be making steady progress now that he's begun to throw again. The team is being careful with Alvarez and hasn't said if they'll aim to have him back this season, and rightfully so. Before getting injured in 2015, Alvarez was coming off a 2014 campaign that saw him post a 2.65 ERA and 1.24 WHIP over 30 starts.

Nathan Eovaldi SP | TEX
Yankees' Nathan Eovaldi: Tommy John surgery a success
Eovaldi underwent successful Tommy John surgery Friday, Joel Sherman of the New York Post reports. He also underwent a procedure to repair the flexor tendon in his right hand.
Eovaldi did not encounter any unexpected issues while undergoing the knife, but he faces a lengthy recovery timetable from what was Tommy John surgery number two for him. Eovaldi has already been ruled out for the entire 2017 season, so he will have an eye on getting healthy in time for spring training in 2018.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Rays' Alex Cobb: Returning to Tropicana Field for bullpen session
Cobb (elbow) will return to Tropicana Field for a bullpen session before "most likely" heading back to the minors for at least one more rehab start, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
Cobb received solid reviews for his Tuesday start against Columbus, an outing in which he struck out five over four innings. The 28-year-old righty is highly likely to make at least one more rehab start assuming his bullpen session is setback-free, considering that the aforementioned four frames he worked his last time out represent his longest stint on the mound to date in his rehab.

Carlos Rodon SP | NYY
White Sox's Carlos Rodon: Picks up quality start vs. Indians
Rodon went six innings and gave up two runs on eight hits while striking out five in a no-decision on Thursday against the Indians.
Entering Thursday's game, Rodon's August ERA sat at a lowly 1.50, and he continues his hot streak with another strong outing against the Indians. Overall, the former first-round pick is 3-8 with a 4.26 ERA as he's struggled with command (3.02 BB/9) and home runs (1.32) all season.
