Christian Bergman SP | SEA
Mariners' Christian Bergman: Sent back to minors Monday
Bergman was optioned to Triple-A Tacoma on Monday.
The demotion has more to do with Bergman's lack of availability over the next few days than it does him being undeserving of a spot in the Seattle bullpen, as his performance in long relief during the weekend series with the Angels certainly proved the latter wasn't the case. He turned in five scoreless innings between his appearances Saturday and Sunday, yielding two hits and no walks while striking out three. He could be back up with the big club the next time the Mariners have a need for a fresh arm in the bullpen. In the meantime, flame-throwing right-hander Thyago Vieira was recalled from Tacoma in a corresponding move to fill the void in relief.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Cleared for Monday start
Odorizzi (foot) has been cleared to start Monday's game against the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
It's expected to be the first of two starts during the week for Odorizzi, who will line up for another turn Saturday against the Mariners if he can make it through Monday's outing unscathed. After missing two starts due to a back issue, Odorizzi rejoined the rotation last week to start Aug. 9 against the Red Sox, but he departed in the fifth inning after taking a liner off his right foot. Odorizzi was able to shake off the soreness and complete a bullpen session Friday without issue, so he's not expected to face any limitations in his return to the mound.

Christian Bergman SP | SEA
Mariners' Christian Bergman: Dominant in long-relief outing
Bergman fired four scoreless innings in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Angels, allowing just one hit and recording three strikeouts.
Just called up from Triple-A Tacoma on Saturday, Bergman worked in both games over the weekend and fired a total of five scoreless frames. The 29-year-old right-hander endured a rough patch with the Rainiers several weeks back, leading to him being placed on waivers. However, he was impressive in a quality start against Nashville last Tuesday and has provided further reason for optimism in his first two outings with the Mariners.

Jordan Montgomery RP | TEX
Yankees' Jordan Montgomery: Pitches well in loss
Montgomery pitched 5.1 innings in Sunday's loss to the Red Sox, striking out four while allowing one run on two hits and three walks. He did not factor into the decision.
Montgomery was struck in the head Saturday during batting practice, but he was still able to make his start and turned in a solid performance against the red-hot Red Sox. Manager Joe Girardi has been adamant about limiting the rookie's innings, though, as Montgomery was pulled early again with just 84 pitches. With Masahiro Tanaka (shoulder) and CC Sabathia (knee) on the disabled list, Montgomery figures to remain in the rotation, and he lines up to take on the same Boston squad next time out on Friday.

Chris Sale SP | ATL
Red Sox's Chris Sale: Fans 12 in no-decision
Sale allowed one run on four hits and two walks while striking out 12 over seven innings in Sunday's 3-2 extra-inning win over the Yankees.
Sale was superb once again but got nothing in his win-loss record to show for his efforts. It was the eighth time this season that he's walked away with a no-decision or a loss when allowing two or fewer runs. Sale's next start is Saturday at home against these same Yankees.

Alex Cobb SP | DET
Rays' Alex Cobb: Return date pushed back
Cobb (toe) will not return from the 10-day disabled list this coming Wednesday as originally hoped, Roger Mooney of the Tampa Bay Times reports.
The pain in the right-hander's big toe has lingered longer than expected, leading to the change in timeline. Cobb had initially planned to pitch through the injury, so Sunday's news underscores how unrealistic that goal likely was. Another update on Cobb's condition should be available at some point during the coming week.

Dallas Keuchel SP | MIL
Astros' Dallas Keuchel: Reaches double-digit wins
Keuchel (10-2) earned the victory Sunday, allowing one earned run on six hits across 6.2 innings to the Rangers. He walked three and struck out seven in the 2-1 win.
Keuchel is the second Astros pitcher to reach double-digit wins this season after Brad Peacock accomplished that feat on Aug. 4. Though he issued three free passes, Sunday served as a nice bounceback for Keuchel after he was torched for eight earned runs on 10 hits (four innings) in his last start against the White Sox. The Astros' ace is slated to face the Athletics at home in his next start Friday.

Parker Bridwell SP | LAA
Angels' Parker Bridwell: Completes sweep of Mariners
Bridwell (7-1) turned in six innings in a 4-2 win over Seattle on Sunday, allowing a single earned run on four hits while walking one and striking out two.
The 26-year-old sophomore hasn't lost since June 30, going 5-0 with a 30:7 K:BB over that span. Bridwell's affinity for the win column -- as well as his attractive 2.88 ERA -- make him a sneaky starting option for the suddenly surging Angels.

Corey Kluber SP | BOS
Indians' Corey Kluber: Tosses another quality outing Sunday
Kluber (11-3) allowed three runs on four hits and two walks while striking out nine over seven innings to earn the win over Tampa Bay on Sunday.
Kluber wasn't as dominant Sunday as he's been in recent outings, but the 31-year-old still managed to toss a quality start and earn his third straight win. He also managed to rack up more than eight strikeouts for a ridiculous 14th consecutive start. Cleveland's ace has dazzled since coming off the disabled list at the beginning of June, compiling an 8-1 record with a shiny 1.85 ERA and 151:17 K:BB across 14 starts (102.1 innings). He'll look to keep things rolling against the Royals on Friday.

Matthew Boyd SP | CHC
Tigers' Matt Boyd: Gives up four runs Sunday
Boyd (5-6) recorded a no-decision in Sunday's loss to the Twins. He gave up four earned runs on six hits and three walks over 5.2 innings, while striking out five.
Boyd pitched better than his last start, when he gave up six runs (five earned) on nine hits in just four innings. The young left-hander was victimized by the long ball, as he gave up a home run to Brian Dozier to lead off the game, then allowed a two-run bomb to Miguel Sano in the third inning. Boyd will look to improve upon this effort in his next scheduled start Saturday, though he's got a tough assignment against the Dodgers.
