Jason Hammel SP | TEX
Royals' Jason Hammel: Takes 11th loss
Hammel (8-11) allowed five runs on 10 hits and two walks despite striking out seven over just 3.1 innings Monday against the White Sox.
Hammel had been extremely consistent over the past two months, as this is the first time he's allowed more than four runs since July 1 against the Twins. He got singled to death Monday night -- despite the crooked numbers, Hammel didn't allow a home run, and he only served up two extra-base hits out of the 10 total. Just one double-play ball could have resulted in an entirely different start, but instead, Hammel watched his ERA inflate to 4.91.

Cole Hamels SP | SD
Rangers' Cole Hamels: Picks up 10th win
Hamels (10-3) allowed three runs on six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts through six innings to take home the win Monday against the Mariners.
Hamels recorded his first quality start since Aug. 21 against the Angels and broke a three-start winless streak in the process. Still, Hamels owns an underwhelming 4.05 ERA, and the Rangers will need him to pitch more like the ace he has been in the past if they want to make a run to the playoffs.

Myles Jaye SP | CLE
Tigers' Myles Jaye: Runs into buzzsaw versus Indians
Jaye (1-1) allowed seven runs on seven hits and two walks across 3.2 innings while taking the loss Monday against the Indians. He struck out two.
Jaye allowed five runs on four hits and a walk in the third inning before yielding a two-run home run to Jose Ramirez in the fourth. He threw just 11 first-pitch strikes to 23 batters and became predictable as he pitched from behind. Jaye faced an extremely difficult task against the surging Cleveland lineup in his first start of the season, but he didn't pitch well in this audition. He should remain in the rotation after Artie Lewicki was shut down, so Jaye appears set to start Saturday against the White Sox.

Jake Odorizzi SP | TB
Rays' Jake Odorizzi: Struggles in fourth inning in loss Monday
Odorizzi (8-8) allowed five runs (one earned) on three hits and three walks across 3.2 innings while taking the loss Monday against the Yankees. He struck out five.
Odorizzi coasted through three innings before struggling in the fourth, when he allowed four runs on three hits, two walks, an error and a catcher's interference. Though his teammates' gaffes meant four of the runs didn't affect his ERA, the Rays never mounted an offensive charge and doomed him to his eighth loss. Odorizzi was coming off of his best start in recent memory and will look to get back on track Sunday against the Red Sox.

Carlos Carrasco RP | ATL
Indians' Carlos Carrasco: Strikes out nine in win over Tigers
Carrasco (15-6) struck out nine in six scoreless innings while earning the win Monday against the Tigers, allowing seven hits and one walk along the way.
Carrasco was terrific in this one, throwing first-pitch strikes to 20 of 26 hitters and inducing 21 swinging strikes. He worked up to 92 pitches and likely could have continued, but a sizable lead allowed the club to remove him after the sixth. Carrasco has been outstanding over his last four starts, allowing just two earned runs with a stellar 34:1 K:BB over 29 innings. He will look to continue his recent dominance Saturday against the Royals.

Alex Meyer SP | LAA
Angels' Alex Meyer: To miss 2018 season due to shoulder surgery
Meyer will undergo labrum surgery on his right shoulder and will miss the 2018 season as a result, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
Meyer had already been shut down for the season, but the club initially hoped he could return after rest and rehab for the 2018 season. The hope is that Meyer can return for 2019 spring training, but by that point, he'll be 29 years old with a lengthy history of shoulder issues.

Andrew Heaney RP | LAD
Angels' Andrew Heaney: MRI finds minor impingement
Heaney (shoulder) underwent an MRI Monday that found symptoms consistent with an impingement in his shoulder and is questionable for his next start, Jeff Fletcher of the Orange County Register reports.
The absence of any major structural damage after Heaney was forced to exit Saturday's start early is a great sign. Expect him to throw a bullpen session this week, with a decision on his scheduled start Friday against Texas coming soon afterward.

Jordan Montgomery RP | TEX
Yankees' Jordan Montgomery: Likely headed to bullpen
With the Yankees naming Jaime Garcia as their starter for Wednesday's game against the Rays, it's expected that Montgomery will move to the bullpen this week, Erik Boland of Newsday reports.
The Yankees elected to bypass the struggling Garcia's two turns through the rotation last week, allowing Montgomery to pick up starts Sept. 4 and 10. As had been the case in his previous outings, Montgomery was held to a limited pitch count in both contests, and since the lefty wasn't particularly impressive in either, it appears Girardi is ready to give Garcia another trial in the rotation. With the Yankees making a concerted effort to manage the rookie's workload carefully in September, Montgomery may not see much usage the rest of the year, making him a drop candidate in most single-season formats.

Andrew Albers SP | MIN
Mariners' Andrew Albers: Likely shifting to bullpen this week
Albers is expected to move to the bullpen this week with Felix Hernandez (shoulder) and James Paxton (pectoral) set to be activated from the 10-day disabled list to make starts Thursday against the Rangers and Friday against the Astros, respectively, Bob Dutton of The Tacoma News Tribune reports.
Manager Scott Servais is tentatively planning to have Albers piggyback Hernandez in the Thursday outing, as the latter will be limited to around 50 or 60 pitches in his first start coming off the DL due to his lack of a minor-league rehab assignment beforehand. That should leave multiple innings available for Albers, but with his usage likely to become more unpredictable after Thursday, those in AL-only or deeper mixed leagues mining for wins may want to look elsewhere. Albers has generally impressed in his five starts for the big club this season, going 4-1 with a 2.67 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across 27 innings.

Jordan Montgomery RP | TEX
Yankees' Jordan Montgomery: Removed in fourth inning Sunday
Montgomery didn't factor into the decision after surrendering three runs on three hits with four walks and three strikeouts over 3.1 innings Sunday in Texas.
Montgomery was handed a 9-1 lead heading into the bottom of the fourth inning, but control problems forced manager Joe Girardi to remove the lefty before he became eligible for a victory. The rookie has understandably hit a wall of late, so his days of making spot starts in place of Jaime Garcia are coming to an end. New York could opt to use Montgomery in a bullpen role down the stretch or shut him down altogether as he's already up to 138 major-league innings this season.
