  • Twins' Jake Odorizzi: Lands on IL with blister

The Twins placed Odorizzi on the 10-day injured list after he sustained a right middle finger blister during his start in Tuesday's 8-6 loss to the Athletics, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Odorizzi failed to deliver a quality start for the fourth straight outing Tuesday, ceding six runs (five earned) on four hits and three walks over three innings while striking out two. While Park notes that Odorizzi could pitch through the blister if needed, the Twins wanted to get ahead of the matter and give him extra time to heal up ahead of the second half. Odorizzi thus appears to be in line for a minimum stay on the IL or close to it, though the injury will prevent him from starting Sunday's game against Texas and appearing in his first All-Star Game next week. Zack Littell was called up from Triple-A Rochester in a corresponding move to provide the bullpen with an extra arm, but the Twins haven't announced a replacement in the rotation for Odorizzi.

  • Jose Urquidy RP | PHI

Astros' Jose Urquidy: Short start in debut

Urquidy didn't factor into the decision in Tuesday's 9-8 win over the Rockies, giving up two runs on six hits and a walk over 3.2 innings while striking out four.

The 24-year-old had an up-and-down MLB debut, throwing 52 of 81 pitches for strikes and uncorking two wild pitches, but given how many baserunners he allowed, things could have been a lot worse for Urquidy at Coors Field. It's not yet clear whether he'll remain in the Astros rotation, but if he does he'll line up to take the final start before the All-Star break -- at home against the Angels on Sunday.

  • Jose Suarez RP | ATH

Angels' Jose Suarez: Fans seven over four innings

Suarez allowed three runs (two earned) on three hits and two walks across four innings against the Rangers on Tuesday. He had seven strikeouts but didn't factor in the decision.

Suarez was able to rack up the strikeouts but it hurt his pitch count as he needed 91 pitches to complete the four frames. The 21-year-old was called up to start Monday, but the game was postponed following the death of teammate Tyler Skaggs. Suarez currently lines up to start the final game before the All-Star break Sunday in Houston.

  • Yonny Chirinos SP | MIA

Rays' Yonny Chirinos: Next start set for Thursday

Chirinos will make his next start Thursday in the series opener against the Yankees, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

Chirinos would have originally lined up for a Wednesday turn against the Orioles based on his usual amount of rest, but Toribio reports the Rays plan to go with a bullpen day for that contest instead. That will position the right-hander to kick off the four-game set against the Yankees, a team he's been very effective against on three previous occasions this season. Chirinos managed a quality start in his most recent turn versus the Bronx Bombers on June 17, and he owns a solid 3.07 ERA across 14.2 frames versus New York this season overall.

  • Blake Snell SP | LAD

Rays' Blake Snell: Extra rest between starts

Snell is expected to make his next start Saturday against the Yankees, Juan Toribio of MLB.com reports.

The left-hander snapped out of a multi-start slump last Sunday against the Rangers, racking up 12 strikeouts over six innings. He'll now have a full five days of rest prior to taking on the Bronx Bombers' potent lineup, with the Rays' decision to go with a bullpen day Wednesday. Notably, the Yankees were responsible for one of the worst outings of Snell's career just three starts ago, as they got to him for six earned runs over two-thirds of an inning June 19.

  • Yusei Kikuchi SP | LAA

Mariners' Yusei Kikuchi: Remains on track for next start

Kikuchi (personal) is still awaiting the birth of his first child, but he remains on track to make his next start Friday against the Athletics, Greg Johns of MLB.com reports.

Kikuchi headed home Sunday with his wife's delivery imminent, and although the situation is essentially the epitome of "day-to-day," the expectation for the time being is that the left-hander will make his next start. Kikuchi has taken his fair share of lumps during his first season stateside, as evidenced by his 5.12 ERA and 1.51 WHIP.

  • Twins' Jake Odorizzi: Dealing with blister

Odorizzi was pulled from Tuesday's game versus the Athletics due to a right middle finger blister, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Odorizzi was visited by the athletic trainer after giving up a grand slam during the fourth inning Tuesday and exited the game after throwing a couple more pitches. The severity of the issue is not yet known, but the Twins could play it safe and wait until after the All-Star break to give the 29-year-old his next start, which is currently scheduled for Sunday.

  • Twins' Jake Odorizzi: Pulled from Tuesday's start

Odorizzi was removed from Tuesday's game at Oakland with an apparent finger issue, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Odorizzi was visited by manager Rocco Baldelli and the athletic trainer during the fourth inning and they appeared to be examining one of his fingers before he exited the game. The 29-year-old gave up six runs (five earned) across three innings prior to leaving the contest. The specifics of the issue remain unclear, but if there is any concern at all the team could push his next start -- currently scheduled for Sunday -- to after the All-Star break.

  • James Paxton SP | BOS

Yankees' James Paxton: Allows one earned run

Paxton allowed one earned run on eight hits and two walks while striking out three across six innings Tuesday against the Mets. He did not factor into the decision.

Paxton surrendered just a solo home run to J.D. Davis across his six innings of work -- only his second quality start in seven chances since coming off the injured list May 29. Despite the outing being positive overall, Paxton was uncharacteristically unable to generate much deception with his pitches, recording just 12 swinging strikes on 103 total pitches. He'll have one more chance to put it all together prior to the All-Star break, drawing the start Sunday at the Rays.

  • Charlie Morton SP | ATL

    Rays' Charlie Morton: Dominates Orioles

Morton (9-2) allowed one earned run on four hits and a walk while striking out 12 across seven innings to earn the win Tuesday against the Orioles.

Morton's sole blemish of the contest came on a solo home run by Chris Davis in the third inning. Otherwise, he held the Orioles without an extra-base hit and didn't allow a baserunner into scoring position until his final frame. It was his second double-digit strikeout performance of the season, and he's now racked up 132 punchouts across 107 innings. Morton has also supplied stellar ratios, maintaining a 2.36 ERA and 1.03 WHIP. He'll look to end the first half of the season with a strong start on Sunday against the Yankees.
