Schmidt (0-1) took the loss during Sunday's 4-3 defeat at the hands of the Red Sox, allowing one run on one hit with one strikeout in 2.2 innings.

Schmidt relieved starter Jordan Montgomery in the fourth inning and allowed an inherited runner to score on a sacrifice fly but rebounded to retire eight of nine batters faced. His one mistake resulted in a Bobby Dalbec home run that became the difference in the game. The 26-year-old pitched well Sunday and should maintain a long-relief spot moving forward despite the loss.

Crawford (1-1) got the win in Sunday's 4-3 victory against the Yankees, allowing four hits with three strikeouts in two scoreless innings.

Crawford took over a 3-3 tie in the fifth inning and fell in line for the win after a Bobby Dalbec home run in the top of the sixth. It's encouraging to see manager Alex Cora entrust important innings to the unproven 26-year-old, though he's still in the prove-it stage.

Montgomery is dealing with swelling in his left knee following Sunday's loss to Boston, Bryan Hoch of MLB.com reports.

Montgomery was hit by a comebacker in the top of the first inning Sunday and appeared to be in considerable pain, but he was able to play through the issue and tossed 3.1 innings in his season debut. After he underwent precautionary X-rays after the game that returned negative, Montgomery said he'll be ready to make his next turn through the rotation. He tentatively lines up to face the Orioles in Baltimore on Friday.

Montgomery got a no-decision during Sunday's 4-3 loss to Boston, allowing three runs on four hits and a walk with four strikeouts in 3.1 innings.

Montgomery settled down following a rocky first inning to permit only one additional run that resulted from Christian Arroyo reaching base on a strikeout. The lefty pitched well aside from that first inning, allowing a single hit or walk in each subsequent inning, and will look to rebound in Baltimore on Friday.

Houck didn't factor into the decision during Sunday's 4-3 win against the Yankees, allowing three runs on six hits and three walks with three strikeouts in 3.1 innings.

Houck was tethered to two-run lead before he took the mound but surrendered baserunners in each of the first four innings that came around to score in the third and fourth. Finding the zone was an issue as only 57.7 percent of the 25-year-old's 78 pitches went for strikes, though Houck owns a respectable 1.08 WHIP across 86 innings in his career. The sophomore is looking to build on a strong rookie campaign and will look to get on track Saturday against Minnesota at Fenway.

Ober gave up four earned runs over five innings with four strikeouts and two walks to earn a win in his first start of the regular season in Sunday's victory over Seattle.

Ober gave up a three-run home run and four runs in the third inning, but he settled down by throwing scoreless frames in the fourth and fifth innings. Minnesota is going with a six-man rotation the first week of the season, so Ober is expected to make his next start Sunday at Boston. It's not clear if the Twins will stick with a six-man rotation after next Sunday.

Kopech allowed one run on two hits and two walks over four innings in Sunday's win over the Tigers. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.

Kopech coughed up an RBI triple to Victor Reyes in the second inning but kept the Tigers off the board otherwise. He started in four of his 44 appearances last season and never threw more than five innings in a single outing. The White Sox look to finally be stretching him out as a full-time starter after he missed the entire 2019 and 2020 seasons. Kopech is lined up to face the Rays at home next week.

Skubal (0-1) allowed five runs (four earned) on seven hits and a walk over four innings Sunday, striking out three and taking a loss against the White Sox.

The White Sox chipped away at Skubal for his entire outing, plating two runs in the first inning, two in the third and one in the fourth. He tossed 79 pitches (50 strikes) and produced nine swinging strikes. The 25-year-old southpaw looked terrific this spring, fanning 21 batters with a 1.32 ERA through 13.2 frames. Skubal is projected to start in Kansas City next week.

Wells (0-1) allowed four runs on three hits and two walks across 1.2 innings Sunday, striking out two and taking a loss against the Rays.

All four runs against Wells came in the second inning, including a two-run shot by Brandon Lowe that ended his afternoon. It was his first career MLB start after appearing in 44 games out of Baltimore's bullpen as a rookie last season. As of now, he's projected to take the mound at home next week against the Yankees.

Kluber allowed three hits and four walks over 4.2 shutout innings in Sunday's win over Baltimore. He struck out five and did not factor in the decision.

Kluber was one out away from finishing the fifth inning and earning a win in his Rays debut before walking Cedric Mullins and yielding a single to Ryan Mountcastle. He tossed 52 of 87 pitches for strikes and forced 12 whiffs. The veteran righty posted a 3.83 ERA in 80 innings with the Yankees last season. Kluber is lined up to face the White Sox in Chicago next week.
