Lynn (knee) is targeting a return in early June, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The White Sox were initially hopeful that Lynn would be able to return by the end of May, but general manager Rick Hahn said Monday that an early June return is a more realistic possibility. While it still appears that Lynn is making good progress in his recovery, the team seems content in giving him enough time to make sure he's fully healthy before making his 2022 debut.

Cueto's will make at least one more start for Triple-A Charlotte, Scot Gregor of the Chicago Daily Herald reports.

Cueto signed a minor-league deal with the White Sox in early April and has been building up in the minors after missing nearly all of camp. Chicago has yet to call him up despite the fact that Lance Lynn (knee) is expected to be out until early June, a decision that seems defensible given that Cueto has allowed seven runs in 10.1 innings across three starts for Charlotte. His deal has a May 15 opt-out, so the White Sox will have to make a decision soon on whether or not he'll be part of the rotation going forward.

Tigers manager A.J. Hinch confirmed that Faedo will be called up from Triple-A Toledo to start the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader with the Athletics in Detroit, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

The rookie right-hander will be designated as the 27th man for the twin bill, just as he was for the Tigers' recent doubleheader last week against the Pirates. He made his MLB debut that day, working five innings and allowing two runs en route to taking a no-decision in Game 2 of the doubleheader. Detroit will call up Joey Wentz from Triple-A Toledo to start Wednesday against Oakland, and either he or Faedo is expected to stay in the rotation the next time the Tigers require a fifth starter May 16 in Tampa Bay.

Mize (elbow) will make his first rehab start at Triple-A Toledo on Thursday, Evan Petzold of the Detroit Free Press reports.

Mize has been on the injured list since mid-April due to a right elbow sprain, but he'll return to game action in the minors late this week. It's possible the 25-year-old will require more than one Triple-A start since he's been sidelined nearly a month, but his rehab assignment should be the final step in his recovery process.

Manning (shoulder) is scheduled to make his second rehab start at Triple-A Toledo on Friday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.

Manning's first rehab outing with Toledo on Sunday went about as well as possible, as the 24-year-old right-hander struck out four while allowing just one baserunner over three scoreless innings. He tossed 36 pitches in that outing and will likely ramp up his pitch count to the 50-to-60 range as he looks to get stretched back out for a traditional starting role. Manning could require one more start at Toledo's beyond Friday before making his way back from the 10-day injured list.

Wentz will be called up from Triple-A Toledo to start Wednesday's game against the Athletics, Jason Beck of MLB.com reports.

Wentz owns a strong 33.8 percent strikeout rate through five starts for Toledo this season, though that's come with a 13.0 percent walk rate and a 4.12 ERA. Since his return from March 2020 Tommy John surgery last May, he owns a mediocre 4.42 ERA over 23 starts in the minors, but the Tigers will nevertheless give him a chance on the biggest stage. He'll at least get a relatively easy opponent to debut against, but he'll need to find the strike zone more consistently if he's to stick in the majors.

The Rangers announced Gray's early exit from his start Monday against the Yankees was due to left knee soreness.

Texas described Gray's removal from the contest with one out in the fifth inning as precautionary, but the severity of his injury won't be known until he's re-evaluated Tuesday. According to Levi Weaver of The Athletic, Gray apparently felt something in his knee while fielding an Isiah Kiner-Falefa bunt earlier in the contest, but this latest issue isn't considered as serious as the low-grade MCL sprain that previously sent him to the injured list. Gray was cruising prior to his departure, ending the day with four punchouts over 4.1 scoreless innings while scattering three walks and two hits. He won't factor into the decision after exiting with the game tied at 0-0.

Gray left his start Monday against the Yankees with a team trainer, Kennedi Landry of MLB.com reports.

Gray exited with one out in the fifth inning, though that arguably doesn't count as an early exit, as he'd thrown just three innings in his return from a knee injury in his previous start. He'd pitched well up to that point, striking out four while walking three and allowing just two hits in 4.1 scoreless innings. The extent to which his removal was injury-related should become clear after the game.

Baz (elbow) is scheduled to throw a live batting practice session Monday, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.

Facing live hitters marks the next step forward in the rehab process for Baz, who has been sidelined since undergoing arthroscopic surgery in late March to remove loose bodies from his right elbow. He initiated a throwing program just over two weeks ago and has thus far checked out fine while advancing from long tossing to pitching bullpen sessions, which seemingly keeps him on pace to return from the 60-day injured list when first eligible June 6. For that to become a reality, however, Baz will need to avoid any setbacks upon facing hitters and eventually, making multiple minor-league starts as part of a rehab assignment.

German (shoulder) has thrown multiple bullpen sessions and is expected to face live batting practice soon, Brendan Kuty of The Newark Star-Ledger reports.

German has missed the entirety of the 2022 campaign so far while dealing with right shoulder impingement syndrome, but manager Aaron Boone said Monday that "everything is going well, according to plan," setting the right-hander up to face live BP in the near future. The 29-year-old has been able to throw all of his pitches at his bullpen sessions, a positive sign for his eventual return in early-mid June following a likely multi-outing rehab assignment. German posted a 4.58 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 98.1 innings last year, racking up 98 strikeouts while starting 18 games and appearing in 22 total. The Yankees have yet to decide what his role will be when he ultimately returns.
