McKenzie (4-5) allowed one earned run on seven hits and one walk while striking out six across six innings to earn the win Thursday against the Rockies.

McKenzie allowed a single and double to the first two batters he faced, but he escaped the jam without allowing a run. The only damage against him came in the fifth inning, when he allowed a leadoff triple. Otherwise, McKenzie had an impressive outing -- particularly given that he was pitching in Coors Field -- highlighted by 16 swinging strikes on 93 total pitches. He has now allowed two earned runs or fewer while working six or more innings in four of his last five turns through the rotation.

Gausman (5-6) allowed seven runs (five earned) on seven hits and one walk while striking out three across 2.1 innings to take the loss Thursday against the Orioles.

Gausman kept the ball in the yard but allowed five of the first six batters he faced in the third inning to reach base, derailing his appearance. It was the second time in three starts that he's failed to work at least four innings, and he's surrendered nine earned runs across 12 frames in that span. Despite that recent stretch, Gausman still owns a 3.21 ERA and 1.26 WHIP across 13 starts this season.

Wells (4-4) allowed one earned run on five hits and one walk while striking out three across six innings to earn the win Thursday against Toronto.

Wells allowed a solo home run to Teoscar Hernandez but otherwise held the Blue Jays in check. As has been the case, he was reliant upon inducing soft contact and boasts a strikeout rate of just 15.1 percent on the campaign. Despite that, Wells has turned in three quality starts in his last four outings and has a 3.62 ERA across 59.2 innings for the season.

Canning is expected to have a checkup on his injured back soon, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Canning is currently shut down from throwing with an uncertain timeline for resuming a throwing program. The right-hander has said that he aims to return this season, but he experienced a setback when attempting to play catch May 16. Canning was subsequently advised to take a conservative, non-surgical approach to treatment, but he could ultimately need surgery if his back doesn't properly heal.

Detmers will keep his spot in the Angels' rotation and make his next start, likely against Kansas City next week, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Detmers has failed to complete five innings in each of his past three starts, though he has given up just four runs across 12.1 innings over that stretch. Walks have been the biggest problem for the left-hander of late -- during the three-game period, he has posted a troubling 5.8 BB/9. The Angels don't have a ton of options to step into his rotation spot, and they have a doubleheader coming up Saturday, so it isn't a surprise that Detmers will make his next start as scheduled. However, he may need to start pitching deeper into games and reducing his walks in order to maintain his rotation security.

Kirby (1-2) allowed two runs on six hits and a walk with six strikeouts in six innings, taking the loss versus the Angels on Thursday.

Kirby allowed a two-run home run to Mike Trout in the third inning, and that was all it took for the rookie to take the loss. He has allowed two or fewer runs in three of his last four starts. The 22-year-old now has a 3.56 ERA, 1.14 WHIP and 41:5 K:BB across 43 innings in eight starts overall. He's projected to make his next start on the road in Oakland next week.

Severino (illness) was reinstated from the COVID-19 injured list Thursday.

The Yankees announced Thursday that Severino had tested negative for COVID-19 and would travel with the team during the upcoming road trip to Toronto, so his activation doesn't come as a significant surprise. The right-hander was initially scheduled to start Thursday's game against the Rays before being scratched, but the team hasn't yet revealed whether he'll start during the three-game series against the Blue Jays. Regardless of whether Severino takes the mound over the weekend, he should at least be able to make his next turn through the rotation.

Perez allowed a run on eight hits and struck out five over seven innings in a no-decision versus the Tigers on Thursday.

The lone run Perez gave up came on a Robbie Grossman sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Perez still gave up a few too many hits, but he was able to limit the damage in contrast to the seven runs (six earned) on 12 hits he gave up last Saturday against the White Sox. The southpaw has pitched to a 2.10 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 65:18 K:BB across 81.1 innings in 13 starts. He's projected for a home start versus the Phillies next week.

Severino (illness) has continued to test negative for COVID-19 and will travel with the Yankees during their upcoming road trip to Toronto, Meredith Marakovits of YES Network reports.

Severino was scratched from his scheduled start Thursday against the Rays and placed on the COVID-19 injured list since he was experiencing symptoms. However, he's feeling better following the win over Tampa Bay and will make the trip to Toronto. It's not yet clear whether Severino will be an option to start during the three-game series against the Blue Jays, but he seems to be trending toward a relatively brief absence.

Hill (2-4) allowed four runs (three earned) on seven hits and no walks while striking out four in 5.2 innings to take the loss in Thursday's game against the Athletics.

Hill displayed improved results over his last two starts, striking out 11 while allowing three runs in 10.1 innings. Although he provided decent length during Thursday's start, he struggled to hold the Athletics' offense in check and was charged with his fourth loss of the season. The southpaw now has a 4.42 ERA and 1.22 WHIP in 55 innings over his first 12 starts of the season. Hill projects to make his next start at home against the Tigers on Tuesday.
