Gilbert (9-3) earned the win over Oakland on Thursday, allowing four runs on eight hits and one walk while striking out three batters over six innings.

In comparison to Gilbert's body of work this season, Thursday's performance was relatively disappointing. He tied a season low with three strikeouts and a season worst with four earned runs, yet the right-hander managed to notch his fourth victory in five starts. Gilbert has blossomed in his sophomore MLB campaign, posting a 2.66 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 92:26 K:BB over 94.2 innings. He's tied for the second in the American League with nine wins.

Severino (4-3) allowed two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out four across six innings to take the loss Thursday against the Astros.

Severino has shown strikeout stuff all season -- he has 91 punchouts across 78 innings -- but he induced only six swinging strikes across 87 pitches Thursday. Despite seemingly lacking his best stuff, Severino still managed to limit one of the better lineups in the league, with the only runs against him coming on a two-run double by Alex Bregman in the third inning. Severino also managed to work at least six innings for the seventh time in his last eight starts. Overall, he has a 3.35 ERA and a 91:23 K:BB across 78 innings on the season.

Garcia (6-5) allowed one earned run on three hits and two walks while striking out six across 5.1 innings to earn the win Thursday against the Yankees.

Garcia threw a season-high 101 pitches and impressively shut down one of the most dangerous lineups in the league. The lone run against him came on a solo home run by Anthony Rizzo, but he otherwise limited the Yankees to a pair of singles. Garcia has maintained an impressive 35:7 K:BB across his last six starts, and he has earned the win in each of his last three outings. Overall, he has a 3.54 ERA across 76.1 innings on the season.

Bieber allowed three earned runs on five hits and two walks while striking out five across six innings Thursday against the Twins. He did not factor into the decision.

Bieber allowed two singles and a walk to load the bases in the third inning before surrendering a bases-clearing double to Jose Miranda. He pitched well otherwise and still managed to turn in his fourth consecutive quality start. Overall, Bieber has a 3.16 ERA and 93:22 K:BB across 91 frames on the season.

Kikuchi (3-4) earned the win Thursday over Tampa Bay, striking out eight in six innings while allowing a run on four hits and a walk.

Kikuchi struck out seven of the first 13 batters he faced. The lone run against him came on Isaac Paredes' fourth-inning solo homer. It was a much-needed quality start for the lefty as he hadn't pitched more than five innings in a game since May 16. He closed out June on a high note, improving his numbers for the month to 7.17 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in 21.1 innings across six starts.

Sale (ribs) allowed one earned run on four hits while striking out seven across four innings in his rehab appearance with Double-A Portland on Thursday.

Sale was scheduled to throw three innings, but he got in some extra work and brought his pitch count up to 52. Per Pete Abraham of The Boston Globe, Sale will participate in at least one more rehab appearance with the goal of working five innings while throwing roughly 65 to 70 pitches. If that goes according to plan, Sale could rejoin the Red Sox on July 10 or 11.

Houck was reinstated from the restricted list Thursday, Bill Koch of The Providence Journal reports.

Houck will return to the team following their series in Toronto, which he was unavailable for because of his vaccination status. He'll return to manning the backend of the Red Sox bullpen as the team starts a series against the Cubs on Friday.

Springs was placed on the family medical emergency list Thursday, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Springs was a potential starter for Thursday's matchup against the Blue Jays, but he'll spend some time away from the team after landing on the bereavement list. He'll be forced to miss 3-to-7 days but should be an option to start sometime next week. Matt Wisler is serving as the opener Thursday, while Ryan Yarbrough will likely serve as a bulk reliever after he was called up.

Suarez is scheduled to make his next start Sunday in Houston.

He will unsurprisingly received another turn through the rotation after he impressed while working as a bulk reliever behind Andrew Wantz in last Sunday's win over the Mariners. Suarez notched his first win of the season in the six-inning outing, striking out eight while yielding one run on five hits and no walks. The left-hander is expected to be deployed as a traditional starter this time out, and he could have some staying power in the Angels' six-man rotation if he submits another solid performance.

Kopech (2-5) took the loss against the Angels on Wednesday, allowing four runs (three earned) on five hits and two walks while striking out six batters over 5.1 innings.

Kopech fell behind early, allowing two runs in the first inning -- including one that scored on his own error. He settled down to hold Los Angeles scoreless over the next four frames before serving up a two-run homer to Luis Rengifo in the sixth. That was more than enough for the Angels to claim victory on a night when Shohei Ohtani struck out 11 over 5.2 scoreless frames. Kopech has taken a loss in each of his past three starts, allowing 10 earned runs and posting a 12:7 K:BB over 16.1 innings during that stretch.
