  • Kevin Gausman SP | CHC

Blue Jays' Kevin Gausman: Throws bullpen Friday

Gausman (ankle) threw a bullpen session Friday, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Gausman threw from flat ground Thursday, and Friday's session marked the first time he worked off a mound since sustaining his ankle injury last weekend. Manager Charlie Montoyo didn't rule the right-hander out for Sunday's start against Seattle.

  • Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Managing forearm issue

Seabold was removed from Friday's game against the Yankees due to right forearm extensor tightness, Jen McCaffrey of The Athletic reports.

Seabold exited Friday's matchup with two outs in the top of the third inning due to an injury, and he's apparently dealing with a forearm issue. The right-hander will presumably be examined in the coming days to determine the severity of his injury.

  • Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Exits with apparent injury

Seabold was removed from Friday's game against the Yankees in the top of the third inning due to an apparent hand injury, Chris Cotillo of The Springfield Republican reports.

Seabold struggled mightily to begin Friday's matchup, allowing seven runs on nine hits and two walks while striking out two in 2.2 innings. It's possible that his injury contributed to his struggles, and he was removed from the matchup after being visited by the training staff. The nature and severity of Seabold's injury aren't yet known, and it's unclear whether he'll require a trip to the injured list.

  • Angels' Michael Lorenzen: MRI shows no structural damage

Lorenzen's shoulder showed no structural damage in an MRI taken Friday, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports.

Lorenzen hit the injured list Thursday with a right shoulder strain, an injury which may partially explain his 13.09 ERA and 2.55 WHIP across his last three starts. Friday's test results indicate that he's avoided a worst-case scenario, but he still has more treatment to get through before he begins a throwing program.

  • Kyle Bradish SP | BAL

Orioles' Kyle Bradish: Needs multiple rehab starts

Bradish (shoulder) will make multiple rehab appearances before being activated off the injured list, Rich Dubroff of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Bradish has been out for just two weeks due to right shoulder inflammation, so he could probably return to the big leagues after just one outing if the Orioles needed him to. Considering that he struggled to a 9.61 ERA and 2.34 WHIP in his final five starts prior to the injury, however, it's not all that surprising that the team wants him to convincingly prove he's healthy and can be effective before he's allowed to return.

  • Chris Sale SP | ATL

Red Sox's Chris Sale: Tuesday return confirmed

Sale (rib) has been officially announced as the starter for Tuesday's game against Tampa Bay, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

Sale is finally ready to go after missing the first half of the season with a stress fracture in his rib cage. He was shaky in his final rehab outing, walking five batters in 3.2 innings of work, but the Red Sox nonetheless decided he's ready for his season debut. Expect some workload limitations early on in his return, however, given that he topped out at four innings across his four rehab appearances.

  • Orioles' Grayson Rodriguez: MRI comes back clean

Rodriguez underwent an MRI on his strained lat Tuesday which came back clean, Andy Kostka of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Rodriguez was shut down with the injury in early June, and reports at the time suggested that he could be done for the season. His good news this week seemingly ups his odds of returning before the end of the year, though the Orioles didn't offer an official timeline for his recovery.

  • Nick Frasso RP | COL

Blue Jays' Nick Frasso: Shines in High-A debut

Frasso made his debut for High-A Vancouver on Monday and threw four hitless innings, striking out 10 with one walk.

As part of that effort, he struck out 2020 AL Rookie of the Year Kyle Lewis (who's on a rehab assignment) twice. This comes on the heels of Frasso being all but untouchable, if old for the level, in Single-A -- he put up a 0.70 ERA, 0.83 WHIP and 42:8 K:BB across 25.2 innings before being promoted. All told, Frasso has pitched just 34.2 innings so far in his pro career since being picked in the fourth round of the 2020 draft, but he's given up only 16 hits while striking out 60 hitters. While he's still an older prospect at 23, Frasso's fastball is touching triple digits these days, so even if he ultimately can't cut it as a starter, he'll have a good shot at making the majors in a bullpen role. For now, he bears watching in dynasty formats.

  • Red Sox's Connor Seabold: Called up to start Friday

Seabold was recalled from Triple-A Worcester and will start Friday against the Yankees, Ian Browne of MLB.com reports.

The 25-year-old returned to the minors after starting for the Red Sox last Sunday and giving up a run over four innings, but he'll quickly rejoin the big-league roster with Michael Wacha (shoulder) headed to the injured list. Seabold is unlikely to be in Boston's rotation for long since Chris Sale (ribs) is set to make his season debut Tuesday.

  • Red Sox's Michael Wacha: Officially moves to injured list

Wacha was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday, retroactive to July 5, with right shoulder inflammation.

Wacha has been unable to start this week due to a "heavy arm," and he's now been diagnosed with shoulder inflammation. It doesn't appear to be a serious injury, as up until Thursday the Red Sox still expected the right-hander to start Friday. He'll be eligible to be reinstated after the All-Star break. Connor Seabold was recalled in a corresponding move and will start Friday versus the Yankees.
