Alek Manoah RP | LAA
Blue Jays' Alek Manoah: Shaky control in win
Manoah (12-5) allowed two runs on two hits, four walks and a hit batter while striking out five across six innings to earn the win Thursday over the Twins.
Manoah matched his season high with the four walks, but he was able to keep the ball in the yard for just the second time in his last eight starts. The Blue Jays' offense made sure he left with a lead by rallying for three runs in the sixth inning. The 24-year-old right-hander has quality starts in four of his last five outings, and he owns a sharp 2.45 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 119:30 K:BB across 132 innings in 21 starts overall. Manoah is on track for a road start in Baltimore next week.

Jeffrey Springs SP | ATH
Rays' Jeffrey Springs: Cruises to win in Detroit
Springs (4-3) allowed two unearned runs on four hits and struck out six over six innings to earn the win Thursday over the Tigers.
Springs had to work around a pair of errors from Yandy Diaz in the third inning, which ultimately allowed two runs to score. Other than that, Springs was sharp in his longest start since June 24. The southpaw threw 60 of 85 pitches for strikes. For the season, he has a 2.50 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 83:16 K:BB across 22 outings (14 starts), though he's allowed 10 runs (seven earned) through 19.1 innings in his last four appearances. Springs is tentatively lined up for a tough road start in Milwaukee next week.

Justin Verlander SP | DET
Astros' Justin Verlander: Quiets Cleveland
Verlander (15-3) allowed two hits and one walk while striking out five over six shutout innings to earn the win Thursday over the Guardians.
No Cleveland runners got past first base on Verlander's watch. The 39-year-old has now gone seven straight starts allowing one or fewer earned runs, winning all of them. He has a 1.73 ERA, 0.85 WHIP and 127:23 K:BB through 130 innings in 20 starts this year. Verlander will look to keep this impressive stretch going in a home start versus the Rangers next week.

Hunter Gaddis RP | CLE
Guardians' Hunter Gaddis: Set to start Friday
Gaddis will be promoted from Triple-A Columbus to start Friday's game against the Astros, Ryan Lewis of the Akron Beacon Journal reports.
Gaddis has posted a 4.07 ERA with a 114:31 K:BB across 86.1 total innings between Double-A Akron and Columbus this season. He doesn't have much prospect pedigree but has consistently missed bats at every level of the minors. Gaddis will draw a tough matchup in his big-league debut, but he could have the chance to stick in the rotation until Aaron Civale (wrist) is ready to return.

Michael Wacha SP | KC
Red Sox's Michael Wacha: Throws 63 pitches in rehab outing
Wacha (shoulder) didn't allow a hit and struck out eight across 4.2 innings with Triple-A Worcester in a rehab outing Thursday, Joe McDonald of the Worcester Telegram & Gazette reports.
Wacha threw 63 pitches in his first rehab outing and looked quite sharp. It's unclear where he'll make his next start, but Wacha will return to Boston on Friday to get treatment and prepare to throw another bullpen session, so his status should be updated again within the next few days.

Cole Ragans RP | KC
Rangers' Cole Ragans: Contract officially selected
Ragans' contract was selected from Triple-A Round Rock ahead of Thursday's start against the White Sox.
Ragans was a first-round pick in 2016 and will make his major-league debut during Thursday's series opener at Globe Life Field. The left-hander was promoted to Round Rock in mid-June and posted a 3.32 ERA and 1.07 WHIP in 43.1 innings over eight Triple-A starts. If Ragans performs well Thursday, it wouldn't be surprising to see him remain in the Rangers' rotation.

Eduardo Rodriguez SP | ARI
Tigers' Eduardo Rodriguez: Starting rehab stint
Rodriguez (personal) will make a rehab start with Single-A Lakeland on Saturday, Cody Stavenhagen of The Athletic reports.
The 29-year-old has recently been ramping up his throwing program and reported to the Tigers' extended spring training facility last weekend, and he's now been cleared for game action in the lower minors. Rodriguez has been away from the team since mid-May and will likely require multiple rehab starts before rejoining Detroit's starting rotation later in August. He's expected to throw about three innings and 50 pitches with Lakeland.

Aaron Civale RP | CHC
Guardians' Aaron Civale: Rehab assignment on tap
Civale (wrist) will begin a rehab assignment at Triple-A Columbus on Friday, Mandy Bell of MLB.com reports.
Civale has been on the injured list since July 14 due to a right wrist sprain, but he'll return to game action in the minors Thursday. The Guardians hope the right-hander will be able to throw approximately four innings during Friday's outing, and he'll presumably be evaluated afterward to determine his next steps.

Bryan Garcia SP | HOU
Tigers' Bryan Garcia: Returning Friday for another start
Tigers manager A.J. Hinch said Garcia will be called up from Triple-A Toledo to start Friday's game against the Rays, Evan Woodbery of MLive.com reports.
Garcia will be joining the Tigers for his second Friday start in a row, as he previously took the hill last weekend in Toronto and took a no-decision while giving up two earned runs on three hits and two walks while striking out three in 3.2 innings. Since Garcia was added to the roster last week as a COVID-19 replacement for Andrew Chafin, the Tigers will need to formally add the right-hander back to the 40-man roster so he can make his spot start versus Tampa Bay. Garcia could be headed back to the minors immediately following his upcoming start, as the Tigers should get Beau Brieske (forearm) back from the injured list when a fifth member of the rotation is needed next week.

Brayan Bello RP | BOS
Red Sox's Brayan Bello: Goes on IL with groin strain
The Red Sox placed Bello (groin) on the 15-day injured list Thursday.
Bello suffered the injury during his relief appearance in Wednesday's 6-1 loss to the Astros, when the Red Sox intended to deploy him as a piggyback pitcher behind starter Rich Hill. He'll now be sidelined for at least the next two and a half weeks, and once he's activated, Bello may not have a spot on the active roster, much less one in the rotation. Hill's return from the IL on Wednesday gave Boston five healthy starting options, and Michael Wacha (shoulder) could be activated by the middle of August and will push Bello another rung down the depth chart.
