Sauer recorded 17 strikeouts over eight innings for Double-A Somerset in a game against New Hampshire on Thursday.

Sauer allowed just one run on two hits in the contest, though Somerset wasn't able to win. The right-hander's 17 punchouts were a Somerset franchise record and are the most by any major- or minor-league pitcher this season, per Eli Fishman of Pinstriped Pros. Sauer appears to have recently found another level of swing-and-miss stuff in his arsenal -- he registered a then season-best 11 strikeouts in his previous contest Aug. 19.

Castillo didn't factor into the decision during Saturday's 4-3 loss to Cleveland, allowing one run on four hits and one walk with 10 strikeouts in six innings.

Coming off his worst start of the season by game score, Castillo limited the damage to a Jose Ramirez solo shot in the fourth inning in racking up his third double-digit strikeout total. The 29-year-old tossed 85 of 115 pitches for strikes with a staggering 21 of the swinging variety and was in line for the win until Andres Munoz permitted three runs in the top of the eighth. Castillo owns a 2.85 ERA and 1.07 WHIP with 129 strikeouts across 116.2 innings, and he's scheduled for a rematch with the Guardians in Cleveland next weekend.

German registered a no-decision during Saturday's 3-2 loss against Oakland, allowing three hits with five strikeouts across 7.2 scoreless innings.

Making his eighth start of the season, German and Oakland starter Adam Oller engaged in an unlikely pitcher's duel that marked the former's first scoreless outing of the campaign. The 30-year-old found the zone with an impressive 60 of 79 pitches and has now surrendered one run or fewer in four of his last five starts. German sports a 3.19 ERA and 1.11 WHIP with 31 strikeouts across 42.1 innings and is projected to toe the rubber again next weekend in Tampa Bay.

Lynch (4-9) took the loss to the Padres on Saturday, allowing four runs on nine hits while striking out six and walking one over five innings.

Despite striking out six batters and allowing just one walk, Lynch was knocked around for four runs on a Wil Myers two-run homer and RBI singles from Manny Machado and Brandon Drury. Lynch lacked efficiency in the contest, throwing 58 of 91 pitches for strikes across five frames. The lefty has recorded one quality start this season in an Apr. 26 matchup with the White Sox. Since then, he has made it through six innings only one time. Although he has a 3.94 ERA this month, he will take a 4.70 season ERA into his next appearance.

Manoah (12-7) took the loss Saturday, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over seven innings against the Angels. He struck out eight.

Manoah allowed just one extra-base hit in the form of a double from Ryan Aguilar and later surrendered an RBI single to shortstop Luis Rengifo in the sixth to break the scoreless deadlock. In his last eight starts, the righty has recorded five quality starts and 50 strikeouts over 48 innings. In addition, Manoah has not allowed a home run in four of his last five starts.

Martin (2-4) took the loss to Arizona on Saturday, allowing five runs (four earned) on four hits while striking out two and walking four over three innings.

Martin struggled through three innings Saturday, allowing four earned runs and four walks. He did not allow a home run in the contest but walked Carson Kelly with the bases loaded. The righty also struggled with efficiency, tossing 35 of 63 pitches for strikes across three frames. Martin has completed six innings once out of five games started this season, limiting his potential for quality starts. His ERA now sits at 4.85.

Keuchel (2-8) took the loss against Detroit on Saturday, pitching 5.1 innings and allowing seven runs on 11 hits and one walk while striking out one batter.

After Keuchel was released by Arizona in July, Texas swooped in to sign the veteran hurler to a minor-league deal. The left-hander made his first start for his new club a month later, and the results were no better than his overall body of work this season. Keuchel fell behind by two runs in the first inning and was pulled in the sixth after having yielded seven earned runs -- the same amount he surrendered in his final start with Arizona. He has given up six or more earned runs in six of his 13 outings overall this season, so it's no surprise that his ERA is an unsightly 8.84. That's the worst mark of any major-league pitcher who has thrown at least 50 innings.

Rodriguez (3-3) picked up the win against Texas on Saturday, allowing one run on six hits and three walks while striking out two batters over six innings.

Though Rodriguez allowed a fair amount of traffic on the bases, he was able to make it through six innings on just 78 pitches. He was helped by three double plays and pitched to contact, as the left-hander induced only two swinging strikes. Rodriguez has looked good since returning from a lengthy stay on the injured list Aug. 21, earning a pair of wins and allowing only one run over 11 innings across two starts.

Gray allowed a run on one hit, four walks and a hit batter while striking out four over five innings in a no-decision versus the Giants on Saturday.

Gray didn't give the Giants much to hit, throwing just 53 of 90 pitches for strikes. They failed to take advantage, picking up just one run on a sacrifice fly in the fifth inning. Gray has walked four or more batters three times in 20 starts this year, so it was an unusual lack of command for the right-hander. The 32-year-old has a 3.04 ERA, 1.11 WHIP and 99:32 K:BB through 100.2 innings this season. He'll remain in search of his eighth win heading into next week's projected road start versus the White Sox.

Urquidy (12-5) allowed three runs on four hits and three walks while striking out five over five innings to take the loss versus the Orioles on Saturday.

All three runs came on home runs in the third inning -- a two-run blast from Anthony Santander and a solo shot from Austin Hays. This was the second time in four starts Urquidy's given up multiple homers, and both of those instances came in home starts. The 27-year-old righty still has a solid 3.69 ERA with a 1.14 WHIP and 109:31 K:BB through 139 innings across 24 starts, but he's approaching his most frames in any professional season, trailing only 2019 (144 innings). Urquidy is projected for a road start versus the Angels next weekend.
