Giolito allowed seven runs on 12 hits over four innings during Friday's loss to Pittsburgh. He struck out three and did not factor in the decision.

The White Sox's offense managed to continue battling back early, preventing Giolito from taking the loss. He got knocked around consistently all afternoon and gave up two homers, including a three-run blast by Bryan Reynolds in the fourth inning. Giolito has now given up nine runs in as many frames but has a solid 9:1 K:BB. He's lined up to take the mound in Minnesota next week.

Schmidt didn't factor into the decision in Friday's 7-6 loss to the Orioles, giving up four runs on five hits and three walks over 3.1 innings. He struck out three.

It was another shaky outing for the right-hander, who needed 84 pitches (53 strikes) to record only 10 outs and put more strain on the bullpen. Schmidt has yet to complete the fourth inning through two starts this season, and his 9.45 ERA suggests the only thing keeping him in the Yankees' rotation is the team's lack of healthy alternatives.

Eovaldi (1-1) took the loss Friday, allowing two runs on five hits and a walk over 5.2 innings as the Rangers fell 2-0 to the Cubs. He struck out six.

The right-hander put together a strong outing, coming one out short of a quality start and tossing 56 of 89 pitches for strikes, but he got outdueled by Marcus Stroman. Eovaldi will take a 4.22 ERA and 12:3 K:BB through 10.2 innings into his next start, likely to come at home next week against the Royals.

Brito will start for the Yankees on Saturday against the Orioles, Pete Caldera of The Bergen Record reports.

The Yankees rotation will be pushed back one day with Nestor Cortes now starting against the Orioles on Sunday. Brito pitched well in his MLB debut, giving up two hits over five scoreless frames against the Giants on April 2, and he'll get another chance to impress against an Orioles lineup that has performed well thus far. The Yankees will need to make a roster move before Saturday's game to clear room for his promotion.

Canning (groin) said Friday that he feels 100 percent healthy, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports.

Canning tallied 10 strikeouts over five innings in a rehab start Thursday with Single-A Inland Empire while scattering two runs (one earned) on six hits and two walks. He could feasibly jump into the Angels' rotation next week, though no official decision has been made. The 26-year-old suffered a left groin strain just before the end of spring training.

Rucinski (hamstring) is scheduled to throw a simulated game Saturday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

If all goes smoothly during the workout, Rucinski will advance to a minor-league rehab assignment next week with Triple-A Las Vegas. The 34-year-old right-hander signed with the Athletics over the winter following four successful seasons in Korea. He should be part of Oakland's starting rotation by the end of April as he moves past a left hamstring strain that popped up in late March.

White Sox pitching coach Ethan Katz said Lynn was dealing with cold symptoms during his rough outing Thursday against the Giants, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

A bug has been going around the clubhouse, and the White Sox sure looked sluggish in what was a 16-6 loss to San Francisco. Lynn surrendered eight of those runs -- all earned -- over just 4.1 innings of work. He's showing a 9.00 ERA through two starts this season.

Odorizzi will be sidelined for the remainder of the season after undergoing arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Odorizzi missed all of spring training with a shoulder issue and ultimately it was determined surgery was the best route. It's a blow to the Rangers' rotation depth and poor timing for Odorizzi, who is slated to become a free agent after the season.

Rodon (forearm) will throw a live batting practice session Monday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

It will be the first time the left-hander has faced hitters since he was diagnosed with a left forearm strain nearly a month ago. The Yankees had said previously that Rodon would be about a month away from a return once he progresses to live BP, so this would put the timeline for his season debut in early May, barring any setbacks.

Severino (lat) will throw a bullpen session Sunday, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Severino expanded his flat-ground throwing to 120 feet Thursday and will progress to the mound next. The right-hander is trending in the right direction as he works his way back from a low-grade lat strain, but a potential return date remains somewhat hazy.
