Ray (elbow) told reporters before Tuesday's game against the Brewers that he's not quite ready to begin a throwing program, but that the progression on his left flexor strain has been good and he'll undergo an MRI later this week, Daniel Kramer of MLB.com reports.

Ray was placed on the injured list after making just one start because of the flexor strain. The results of the imaging will likely determine when the 31-year-old will be able to start throwing. The hope was that Ray would miss around a month after the injury was announced, and he still has a chance to return to the mound around the start of May.

Boyd didn't factor into the decision in a 4-3 win over the Guardians in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader. He gave up three runs on five hits and two walks over five innings, striking out four.

All three runs came in the fourth inning, punctuated by a two-run homer from Oscar Gonzalez, but otherwise Detroit's pitchers kept Cleveland off the board all day, going on to win the nightcap 1-0. It's Boyd's longest outing of the year in three trips to the mound, and the veteran southpaw will take a 4.50 ERA and 11:9 K:BB through 14 innings into his next start, likely to come this weekend in Baltimore.

Battenfield (0-1) took the loss in the second game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Tigers, allowing one run on three hits and three walks over six innings. He struck out five.

The 25-year-old rookie gave the Guardians a quality start in his second big-league outing, but his offense failed to give him any help in a 1-0 loss. Battenfield tossed 58 of 87 pitches for strikes, and he's making a strong initial case to hang onto the fifth starter role once the Cleveland rotation gets healthier, posting a 1.69 ERA and 8:3 K:BB through his first 10.2 MLB innings. He's next set to take the mound early next week in a home series against the Rockies.

Gaddis didn't factor into the decision in a 4-3 loss to the Tigers during the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader. He gave up three runs on eight hits and a walk over five innings, striking out one.

The 25-year-old was able to last at least five frames for the second time in four starts to begin the year, but Gaddis hasn't done much more than take a bit of pressure off the bullpen. His 7.64 ERA and 12:6 K:BB through 17.2 innings aren't impressive, but unless the Guardians accelerate their internal timeline for promoting a prospect like Tanner Bibee, Gaddis will likely keep his spot in the rotation. His next turn lines up for a potential weekend start at home against the Marlins.

Athletics manager Mark Kotsay confirmed that Miller will be promoted from Triple-A Las Vegas ahead of Wednesday's game against the Cubs and will remain a member of the rotation, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

The right-hander will get a well-deserved call-up after turning in a 19:0 K:BB over 8.2 innings for Las Vegas and Double-A Midland between his first two minor-league starts. When at his best, Miller flashes a fastball that hits the triple digits along with a swing-and-miss slider. The 24-year-old could endure some ups and downs during his rookie campaign and could face a difficult path to picking up wins even when he pitches well, but the 24-year-old's potential for missing bats makes him one of the few Athletics worthy of fantasy consideration.

DeGrom (wrist) told reporters before Tuesday's game against the Royals that he fully expects to make his next scheduled start against the Athletics after being reevaluated, Evan Grant of The Dallas Morning News reports.

DeGrom said that he feels better than he did Monday, and he was "encouraged" by the results. The right-hander fired four no-hit innings while throwing 39 of 58 pitches for strikes before leaving with soreness in his right wrist. The Rangers will certainly take precautions if there are any hiccups between now and the weekend, but for now it seems likely deGrom will be back on the bump against the Athletics on Saturday.

Springs (elbow) is expected to undergo Tommy John surgery and will miss the remainder of the 2024 season, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Springs was placed on the injured list with a left elbow flexor strain, and as it often does, the injury has escalated into the need for the reconstructive surgery. Springs was pitching exceptionally well prior to the injury with an 0.56 ERA and 24:4 K:BB over 16 innings and three starts. The left-hander will hope to be ready for the start of the 2024 campaign, and Taj Bradley should be given the opportunity to cement his role in the rotation in Spring's absence.

Maeda (arm) is set to start for the Twins on Thursday against Boston, Do-Hyoung Park of MLB.com reports.

Maeda exited his first start of the season due to arm fatigue and had his most recent turn in the rotation skipped Saturday. Now, coming off plenty of rest, the veteran righty will rejoin the rotation and look to bounce back from his most recent appearance in which he allowed four runs over six innings.

Yankees manager Aaron Boone said Tuesday that Rodon's back is "still barking," and the southpaw is slated to undergo tests, Greg Joyce of the New York Post reports.

The Yankees don't think anything is seriously wrong with Rodon's back, but they've decided to send him for tests just to be safe. The left-hander was still able to throw a bullpen session as scheduled Monday. Rodon initially went on the injured list prior to Opening Day with a forearm strain, but that is viewed as a non-issue now.

Bradley was recalled from Triple-A Durham by the Rays on Tuesday, Tricia Whitaker of Bally Sports Sun reports.

Bradley will rejoin the Rays' rotation Tuesday in Cincinnati, taking the spot vacated by Jeffrey Springs (elbow). The young right-hander impressed in his major-league debut versus the Red Sox last week, striking out eight while yielding three runs over five frames. With Springs expected to miss multiple months, Bradley will have an opportunity to establish himself as a long-term fixture in the major-league rotation.
