Clevinger (3-4) took the loss against the Yankees in the second game of a doubleheader Thursday, allowing three runs on six hits and one walk while striking out two batters over 5.2 innings.

Clevinger fell one out shy of a quality start and kept the White Sox within striking range with a decent outing, but Chicago's offense was shut out, causing the veteran to take his fourth loss. Clevinger was doomed by the long ball, as all three of the runs he allowed came via homers. The right-hander also punched out only two batters, and he's posted a modest 48 strikeouts across 58 frames on the season, which is a far cry from the above-average strikeout rates he posted earlier in his career. Clevinger has however held his opponent to three or fewer earned runs in four straight starts, his longest such stretch this season.

Severino took a no-decision in Game 1 of Thursday's doubleheader against the White Sox, allowing four runs on six hits and two walks while striking out six batters over five innings.

Per Bryan Hoch of MLB.com, there was some talk that Severino may have been tipping his pitches in his previous outing against the Dodgers, but if that was the case there didn't seem to be much of an adjustment Thursday against Chicago. The right-hander again had trouble keeping the ball in the park, as the White Sox teed off for three homers against him to account for all four of their runs. Severino has now given up six long balls across nine innings over his past two starts after allowing just one home run in 11.1 frames during his first two appearances of the campaign. On a positive note, Severino's six punchouts Thursday were a season high, but he's going to find success difficult to come by if teams continue to consistently take him deep.

Lynn allowed five runs on eight hits and three walks while striking out four batters over five innings in the first game of Thursday's doubleheader against the Yankees. He did not factor in the decision.

Half of the eight hits Lynn allowed in the outing went for extra bases, including a fourth-inning homer off the bat of Willie Calhoun. This was the fifth time in 13 starts the right-hander has given up at least five runs, which has resulted in an unsightly 6.72 ERA. Lynn had appeared to be putting things together during a three-start stretch between May 16 and May 26 during which he went 3-0 with a 1.89 ERA and 1.11 WHIP over 19 innings, but he's since regressed by allowing 13 runs over nine frames in his past two outings. The veteran has finished a season with an ERA over 4.00 just once over 11 big-league campaigns coming into 2023, but it would take a drastic turnaround for him to get below that mark over the remainder of the current season.

Ober (3-3) took the loss Thursday, allowing four runs on three hits and two walks over 5.1 innings against Tampa Bay. He struck out seven.

Ober ran right through the Rays' lineup the first time around, striking out the side in both the second and third innings while not allowing a baserunner through the first three frames. The second time around didn't go as smoothly, however, as the right-hander surrendered three runs with two outs in the fourth, including a two-run bomb to Harold Ramirez. Ober has now lost his last three decisions (a span of four starts), though his seven strikeouts Thursday tied his season high. He also produced an impressive 15 swinging strikes in the contest.

Chirinos (3-1) earned the win Thursday, allowing one run on five hits over 5.2 innings against Minnesota. He struck out four and did not walk a batter.

Chirinos was steady over 5.2 innings with the exception of a leadoff homer he surrendered to Carlos Correa in the fourth after hanging a slider in the middle of the zone. He followed up that mistake with back-to-back strikeouts and would allow only one more hitter to reach base before being relieved by Jake Diekman in the sixth. The right-hander posted a season-high four strikeouts and did not walk a batter for the first time since April 29. With Josh Fleming on the injured list (elbow), it wouldn't be surprising if Chirinos sticks around in the Rays' rotation for the time being, especially given his impressive outing against Minnesota.

Vasquez was returned to Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre after the second game of Thursday's doubleheader against the White Sox.

Vasquez earned the win after holding the White Sox to only two hits and a walk across 5.2 shutout innings in the second game of the twin bill. It was his second career start in the majors, and he's held his own by maintaining a 9:4 K:BB across 10.1 innings while surrendering only two earned runs. Vasquez will be stuck in the minors for the time being, but he's a candidate to enter the Yankees' rotation should there be any injuries.

Olson, serving as the primary pitcher following an inning from Tyler Holton, allowed a run on three hits and a walk while striking out three over five innings in Thursday's 3-2 loss against the Phillies.

Olson's certainly held his own through his first two big-league outings -- he's allowed three runs on five hits in 10 innings. The 23-year-old right-hander struggled to a 6.38 ERA in Triple-A this season, so there's some risk here. However, Olson should at least get an extended look in the majors while the Tigers deal with a myriad of injuries in their starting rotation. He'd line up for a tough home matchup with Atlanta in his next outing.

The Yankees promoted Vasquez from Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre on Thursday to start Game 2 of their doubleheader with the White Sox.

Vasquez has made one other start for the Yankees this season -- a 4.2-inning performance against the Padres in which he allowed two runs on four hits and three walks while striking out six. He holds a 5.13 ERA and 1.63 WHIP in Triple-A this season and will almost certainly return to the minors immediately after Thursday's game.

Medina is set to work as a bulk reliever Friday versus the Brewers, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports.

Sam Moll will take the mound first as an opener to kick off the Athletics' three-game weekend series in Milwaukee. Medina enters Friday's game with a 0-5 record to go with an 8.19 ERA through 29.2 innings (five starts, one relief appearance) this season.

McCullers (forearm) will get an MRI on Friday after reporting discomfort, Julia Morales of AT&T SportsNet Southwest reports.

McCullers had been on target for a mid-July return before being shut down from throwing off a mound in late May. His new timetable remains unclear, but the Astros are hoping to have a better idea once the imaging results come in early next week. The 29-year-old righty has been shelved all season with a right forearm stain.
