Martinez registered the save in Wednesday's 2-1 victory over Atlanta, allowing one run on no hits and four walks with four strikeouts in 1.2 innings.

It was certainly a shaky outing by Martinez despite allowing no hits, as he gave up a season-high four walks while throwing just 17 of his 37 pitches for strikes. It was encouraging to see manager Torey Lovullo trust Martinez to record five outs for his fifth save of the year, but the hard-throwing right-hander seems unlikely to be available for Thursday's series finale against Atlanta after tossing so many pitches. Despite owning a 5.79 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 9:5 K:BB over 4.2 innings since coming off the injured list, Martinez still appears to be the favorite for saves in Arizona's bullpen.

Fairbanks tallied the save in Wednesday's 5-4 victory over the Rangers, giving up one unearned run on one hit with no strikeouts in the ninth inning.

Fairbanks still hasn't conceded an earned run since May 13, which has been a stretch of seven outings. The 31-year-old right-hander continues to be locked in as Tampa Bay's closer, logging a 1.10 ERA, 0.92 WHIP and 14:7 K:BB over his last 16.1 innings. Fairbanks has successfully converted eight of his nine save chances during that period.

Romano (1-2) was charged with the loss in Wednesday's 2-1 defeat to Toronto, allowing one run on two hits with one strikeout in two-thirds of an inning.

Romano was tasked with keeping the game tied at 1-1 in the ninth inning, but he gave up a two-out, walk-off single to Alejandro Kirk. The hard-throwing right-hander has been shaky since retaking the closer's job, recording a 7.11 ERA, 1.89 WHIP and 13:5 K:BB over his last 6.1 innings. Romano has gone 4-for-4 on save chances during this span, so he figures to remain Philadelphia's preferred ninth-inning weapon while leaving the door open for the likes of Orion Kerkering and Matt Strahm if his struggles continue.

Hernandez was removed from Wednesday's game against Arizona due to an apparent hand injury, Lindsay Crosby of AthlonSports.com reports.

Hernandez was favoring his right hand after making a pitch during the eighth inning of Wednesday's contest. It's currently unknown what kind of injury the 28-year-old reliever is dealing with, though Atlanta may offer some clarity in the near future.

Bednar earned the save in Wednesday's 3-0 win over the Astros, allowing one hit while striking out two in a scoreless ninth inning.

Bednar has now turned in five straight scoreless innings, allowing just two hits while striking out five in that span. After a shaky start to the year, the 30-year-old Bednar has lowered his ERA to 4.12 with a 1.32 WHIP and 27:5 K:BB across 19.2 innings while logging seven saves. He's recorded the last three saves for Pittsburgh and may be separating himself from Dennis Santana in the closer committee.

Pomeranz will serve as the Cubs' opening pitcher for Thursday's game against the Nationals, Taylor McGregor of Marquee Sports Network reports.

Pomeranz fared well as an opener during his last appearance Saturday, during which he tossed a perfect first inning and recorded a strikeout. He'll now aim to replicate his success while working in front of Colin Rea, who is expected to follow Pomeranz in bulk relief.

Finnegan earned the save in Wednesday's 2-0 win over the Cubs. He allowed two hits while striking out one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Finnegan found himself in trouble in the ninth, allowing a pair of singles that brought Kyle Tucker to the plate as the potential winning run. However, Finnegan managed to coax a groundout, closing out Washington's shutout victory. The right-hander improved to 17-for-20 in save chances this season. Finnegan has posted a 2.49 ERA with a 1.34 WHIP and 19:8 K:BB across 21.2 innings.

The Mariners placed Snider on the 15-day injured list Wednesday with a right forearm flexor strain.

After starting the year with a 3.52 ERA and 1.13 WHIP through 23 innings, Snider has given up nine runs (seven earned) in only 3.1 frames across his last three appearances, and it's possible his forearm had something to do with his sudden drop in performance. He'll spend at least the next 15 days on the shelf; meanwhile, Casey Legumina will come up from Triple-A Tacoma to fill the vacancy in the Mariners' bullpen.

The Mariners recalled Legumina from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

Seattle sent the right-hander down to the minors Friday, but with Collin Snider (forearm) headed for the injured list, Legumina will rejoin the Mariners' bullpen. The 27-year-old owns a 4.58 ERA and 1.53 WHIP across 19.2 innings in the majors this season and will likely be kept in a middle-relief role while with the big club.

Kinley struck out one in a perfect ninth inning Wednesday to record his second save of the season in a 3-2 win over the Marlins.

With Zach Agnos on the bereavement list and Seth Halvorsen having pitched two straight days, the save opportunity fell to Kinley, and he breezed through Miami's 2-3-4 hitters on 15 pitches (nine strikes). Kinley did record 12 saves in 2024, but he's no better than third in the pecking order this year for the Rockies despite a 2.45 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 9:7 K:BB over his last 11 innings dating back to May 10.
