  • Joel Peguero RP | SF

Giants' Joel Peguero: Completes live session

Peguero (hamstring) threw a 15-pitch live bullpen session Friday at the Giants' facility in Arizona, MLB.com reports.

Peguero is scheduled to repeat the activity again Wednesday, and if all goes well, he could then start throwing live batting practice. The reliever has been on the shelf since June 1 due to a left hamstring strain and appears to be trending toward a late-August return from the injured list.

  • Matt Gage RP | SF

Giants' Matt Gage: Bound for 60-day IL

The Giants transferred Gage (elbow) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.

After landing on the IL on July 4 due to a left flexor strain, Gage received a platelet-rich plasma injection July 11 and was scheduled to be re-evaluated in the second week of August, per MLB.com. Gage's move to the 60-day IL indicates that the Giants aren't counting on him being ready to rejoin the big-league bullpen until at least Sept. 2. The transaction also opens up a spot on the 40-man roster for infielder Buddy Kennedy, who was claimed off waivers from the Mariners on Sunday.

  • Yovanny Cruz RP | WAS

Nationals' Yovanny Cruz: Dealt to Washington

Cruz and three minor-league pitchers were traded to the Nationals from the Yankees in exchange for Luis Garcia on Sunday, Mark Feinsand of MLB.com reports.

Cruz will head to Washington after he posted a 1.69 ERA and 0.75 WHIP with six strikeouts over 5.1 innings in four appearances with the Yankees this season. The right-hander will likely slot right into the Nationals' major-league bullpen upon his arrival with the organization. Minor-league pitchers Jake Bird, Ben Grable and Jack Cebert will also head to Washington in the transaction.

  • Josh Simpson RP | SEA

Mariners' Josh Simpson: Added to big-league roster

The Mariners recalled Simpson from Triple-A Tacoma ahead of Sunday's game against the Twins.

Simpson has appeared in four games out of the Seattle bullpen this season, giving up three earned runs on four hits and two walks across three innings. He'll likely be in store for an abbreviated stay with the big club, as the Mariners will need to clear room on the 26-man active roster for the newly acquired Seranthony Dominguez prior to Tuesday's series opener with the Tigers.

  • Brenan Hanifee RP | DET

Tigers' Brenan Hanifee: Called up Sunday

The Tigers recalled Hanifee from Triple-A Toledo on Sunday.

The right-hander will fill the roster spot vacated by Tarik Skubal, whose trade to the Dodgers was made official Sunday. Hanifee has been a solid relief option for Detroit this season with a 3.98 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over 20.1 innings, though he's surrendered nine home runs and struck out just eight batters.

  • Reynaldo Lopez RP | ATL

Braves' Reynaldo Lopez: Minimum IL stint expected

Lopez underwent an MRI on Sunday that showed no structural damage to his left knee, Mark Bowman of MLB.com reports.

Lopez was placed on the 15-day injured list earlier in the day due to knee inflammation, and more thorough testing hasn't turned up anything beyond that. Manager Walt Weiss noted that he's hopeful Lopez will be able to return from the IL when first eligible Aug. 14.

  • Duncan Davitt RP | ATL

White Sox's Duncan Davitt: Returns to Triple-A

The White Sox optioned Davitt to Triple-A Charlotte after Sunday's 9-1 win over the Rays.

Davitt was called up ahead of Sunday's contest and tossed an inning of relief, allowing one run on two hits while striking out one. The right-hander is expected to be replaced on the 26-man active roster by the newly acquired Luis Castillo, who is expected to make his White Sox debut during the team's upcoming series versus the Red Sox.

  • Joey Gerber RP | NYM

Mets' Joey Gerber: Loses place on 40-man roster

The Mets designated Gerber for assignment Sunday.

New York previously optioned the right-handed reliever to Triple-A Syracuse back on July 5 after he had posted a 4.32 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 8:4 K:BB in 8.1 innings over seven appearances across four stints in the majors on the season. Gerber will give up his spot on the 40-man roster to catcher Shawn Ross, who was claimed off waivers from the Pirates.

  • Jack Anderson RP | MIN

Twins' Jack Anderson: Sent to minors

The Twins optioned Anderson to Triple-A St. Paul on Sunday.

The 26-year-old's demotion will free up space on the big-league roster for trade-acquisition Dean Kremer. Anderson has made seven appearances in the majors between Boston and Minnesota this season and has a 2.19 ERA, 1.05 WHIP and 12:3 K:BB over 12.1 innings.

  • Braves' Raisel Iglesias: Up to 24 saves

Iglesias earned the save in Sunday's 4-2 win over Washington, striking out one and walking one in a scoreless ninth inning.

Iglesias has now held opponents without an earned run in his last five innings, as he improved to 24-for-26 in save chances this season. The veteran closer's lowered his ERA to 2.25 across 40 innings this year with a 1.05 WHIP and 44:10 K:BB.
