  • Rob Zastryzny RP | MIL

Yankees' Rob Zastryzny: Sent to minor-league camp

The Yankees reassigned Zastryzny to minor-league camp Saturday.

Zastryzny found success in a small sample of big-league action with the Brewers in 2024 (1.17 ERA, 0.65 WHIP in 7.2 innings), but he'll open the 2025 season in the minors with a new organization after struggling during spring training. Over his seven innings in the Grapefruit League, the veteran lefty surrendered four earned runs on seven hits -- including two home runs -- and two walks.

  • Geoff Hartlieb RP | ATH

Yankees' Geoff Hartlieb: Misses out on Opening Day roster

The Yankees reassigned Hartlieb to minor-league camp Saturday.

Hartlieb made five appearances out of the Colorado bullpen in 2024, but he otherwise spent the entire season at the Triple-A level. The 31-year-old is likely to see the bulk of his appearances with Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre during the upcoming season.

  • Colten Brewer RP | NYY

Yankees' Colten Brewer: Opening season in minors

The Yankees reassigned Brewer to minor-league camp Saturday.

Brewer is expected to open the season at Triple-A Scranton/Wilkes-Barre, where he'll work out of the bullpen. He finished the spring with a 0.90 ERA and 0.90 WHIP over 10 innings in the Grapefruit League and could put himself on the radar for a promotion to the majors with a strong showing at Scranton/Wilkes-Barre early on in the season.

  • Michel Otanez RP | TEX

Athletics' Michel Otanez: Lands on shelf

The Athletics placed Otanez (shoulder) on the 15-day injured list Wednesday.

Otanez was diagnosed with a right shoulder impingement on March 16 and is without a definitive timeline for a return. Once healthy, Otanez is expected to fill a high-leverage setup role in front of closer Mason Miller.

  • Bryce Jarvis RP | ARI

Diamondbacks' Bryce Jarvis: Awarded bullpen spot

Jarvis will be on the Diamondbacks' Opening Day roster, Jack Sommers of SI.com reports.

Jarvis' 5.12 FIP in 2024 indicates that his performance didn't quite live up to his 3.19 ERA. But after finishing the Cactus League schedule with two earned runs allowed and 13 strikeouts through 9.1 innings, Jarvis did a great job proving he still belongs in Arizona's bullpen. He'll presumably take on a middle-relief role to begin 2025.

  • Pirates' Hunter Stratton: Headed to minor leagues

The Pirates will option Stratton to Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

After rupturing the patella tendon in his left knee in August, Stratton spent most of camp finishing up his rehab. He pitched in a Grapefruit League game Saturday, but he'll begin the season in Triple-A as he continues ramping up. Once the Pirates deem the right-hander ready for big-league action, he'll be a candidate to pitch in high-leverage situations.

  • Rangers' Caleb Boushley: Starting 2025 in Triple-A

The Rangers assigned Boushley to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

Boushley signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers in November after appearing in just two regular-season games for the Twins in 2024. He pitched in eight spring training games and posted a 3.27 ERA and 1.27 WHIP across 11 innings. Boushley will start the 2025 campaign in Round Rock, but he could get a major-league call-up if the Rangers need right-handed depth out of the bullpen.

  • Joe Barlow RP | TEX

Rangers' Joe Barlow: Assigned to Triple-A

The Rangers assigned Barlow to Triple-A Round Rock on Wednesday.

Barlow signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers in February, but he wasn't able to crack the Opening Day roster after finishing spring training by allowing two runs on four hits and two walks while striking out five across 5.2 innings. He last saw major-league action in 2023 with the Rangers, and he could be called up by Texas should there be a need for right-handed depth out of the bullpen.

  • Tyler Gilbert RP | CHW

White Sox's Tyler Gilbert: Headed to injured list

The White Sox placed Gilbert on the 10-day injured list Wednesday due to left knee bursitis.

The 31-year-old lefty allowed five earned runs while striking out six batters in nine innings during spring training. The White Sox haven't provided a timeline for Gilbert to make his season debut, but he's likely to assume a multi-inning relief role in Chicago once he's healthy.

  • Frankie Montas RP | NYM

Mets' Frankie Montas: Encouraging MRI results

President of baseball operations David Stearns said Wednesday that Montas (lat) underwent an MRI this week that showed "really good healing", and the right-hander is likely a week or two away from starting up a throwing program, Tim Healey of Newsday reports.

Montas said in mid-February that he hoped to return to throwing in 4-to-6 weeks, and he appears to be trending toward the back end of that timeframe. The 32-year-old suffered a high-grade right lat strain early in camp and is poised to miss at least the first month of the season, but a return in mid-to-late May appears possible, assuming he's able to resume throwing in the near future as expected.
