The Giants optioned Winn to Triple-A Sacramento on Tuesday, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports.

Winn gave up five earned runs across eight innings during his latest stint in the majors. He'll now return to Triple-A to make room for Trevor McDonald, who will provide San Francisco with a fresh bullpen arm.

Manager Pat Murphy said Tuesday that he expects Mears (back) to return from the injured list Wednesday, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Lingering back tightness sent Mears to the injured list in early September, but he now seems to be ready to return to Milwaukee's bullpen without embarking on a rehab assignment. The 28-year-old righty owns a career-best 3.42 ERA and 0.91 WHIP through 52.2 innings on the year, and he'll likely be used in high-leverage situations with Trevor Megill (elbow) is still on the shelf, although Abner Uribe remains the top option for save chances.

Megill (elbow) will be reevaluated Tuesday after feeling soreness following a live batting practice session, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

Megill felt soreness in his pitching elbow after a bullpen session last week as well. Despite that setback, he was cleared to faced hitters, but given the lingering issues, his return doesn't appear imminent. Abner Uribe has recorded three saves since Megill's last appearance in late August, with Jared Koenig and Aaron Ashby also picking up one each.

Hall (oblique) threw a bullpen session Tuesday, Jack Stern of BrewerFanatic.com reports.

He'll have another mound session later this week. Out since mid-August with a strained right oblique, Hall hopes to return before the conclusion of the regular season.

The Rangers optioned Curvelo to Triple-A Round Rock on Tuesday.

He's being sent out to accommodate the return of Danny Coulombe. Curvelo has posted a 5.50 ERA and 19:10 K:BB over 18 frames out of the Rangers' bullpen this season.

The Rangers activated Coulombe (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Tuesday.

Coulombe has been shelved since late August with left shoulder fatigue but has been cleared to return to action following a brief rehab assignment. He'll play a key left-handed relief role in the Rangers' bullpen.

The Orioles optioned Wolfram to Triple-A Norfolk on Tuesday.

Wolfram has struck out 31 over 26 innings with the Orioles, but he's also posted a 4.85 ERA and 1.77 WHIP. He's clearing out to make room on the roster for waiver claim Jose Castillo.

Palencia (shoulder) joined the Cubs for their road trip in Pittsburgh and threw off a mound Monday for the first time since landing on the injured list Sept. 8, the Associated Press reports.

Prior to being deactivated after he was diagnosed with a left shoulder strain, Palencia had emerged as the Cubs' closer and converted 22 of 25 save chances while logging a 3.00 ERA and 1.18 WHIP over 51 innings on the season. The right-hander is without a definitive timeline for a return from the IL, but the fact that he's resumed mound work leaves the door open for him to be activated before the regular season comes to an end Sept. 28. In addition to completing another side session or two, Palencia will likely need to face hitters in live batting practice or in a brief minor-league rehab assignment before the Cubs add him back to their bullpen.

Gage (0-1) took the loss in Monday's 8-1 defeat to the Diamondbacks, allowing one earned run on one hit and one walk across one relief inning.

Gage entered the game in the fifth inning and retired three of the four batters he faced, walking one. However, he gave up a double to begin the sixth and was subsequently removed. The right-hander has allowed five runs in his last three appearances, giving up six hits and two walks while hitting one batter in 2.2 innings during that span. He has recorded a 3.97 ERA, 1.50 WHIP and 21:9 K:BB across 22.2 innings in 23 appearances with San Francisco this season.

Peguero allowed two earned runs on one hit and two walks across one-third of an inning in Monday's 8-1 loss to the Diamondbacks.

Peguero entered the game in the sixth inning with a runner on second. The right-hander then walked back-to-back batters before allowing a single and being replaced. Over 11 appearances this season, the 28-year-old owns a 1.84 ERA, 1.02 WHIP and 11:6 K:BB across 14.2 innings.
