Lord (5-1) took a blown save and the loss against Phillies on Tuesday, allowing six runs on five hits and one walk with two strikeouts while recording two outs in the ninth inning.

Lord entered the ninth inning with an 8-6 lead and struck out the first two batters he faced. From there, he allowed six straight batters to reach base and was ultimately charged with six runs in his first loss of the season. While the 26-year-old entered the appearance with just one save, he sported a 2.29 ERA and was deployed by the Nationals in various situations.The rare clunker ballooned his ERA to 3.31 for the year, to go along with a 1.10 WHIP and 46:15 K:BB across 51.2 innings.

The Nationals optioned Schultz to Triple-A Rochester following Tuesday's 14-9 loss to the Phillies.

Schultz surrendered two earned runs on three hits and one walk while collecting just one out during Tuesday's game, bringing his ERA to 5.87 and his WHIP to 1.60 through 30.2 frames on the season. His poor performance will now cost him his spot in the big-league bullpen, and he'll look to get back on track at Rochester. A corresponding move will likely be made before Wednesday's contest.

Kerkering (4-0) was charged with a blown save but credited with the win Tuesday against Washington, allowing three runs on two hits and one walk in the eighth inning. He struck out two.

Kerkering squandered a 6-5 lead in the eighth frame, but the Phillies immediately came storming back in the form of an eight-run ninth inning to get the hurler off the hook. The 25-year-old right-hander has been a fairly effective setup man for closer Jhoan Duran in 2026 otherwise, posting a 3.03 ERA, 1.21 WHIP and 34:14 K:BB with five holds across 29.2 innings.

Corniell (0-1) took the loss against the Marlins on Tuesday, allowing five runs on seven hits and two walks with three strikeouts over 3.1 innings.

Corniell relieved Cal Quantrill in the third inning and struggled, allowing one run in the fourth before enduring a four-run fifth. In just two major-league appearances between 2025 and 2026, the 23-year-old has surrendered eight earned runs across just five frames. It's unclear what his role will be moving forward, but if he remains part of the equation for replacing Jack Leiter (ankle), he could pitch again this weekend against the Blue Jays.

Avila (3-3) earned the win against the Rays on Tuesday, allowing one run on three hits and four walks with six strikeouts over five innings.

Avila allowed a run in the first inning before settling in with four scoreless frames, recording a season-high six strikeouts while also issuing four walks for the second time this year. Since joining the rotation June 1, Avila has yielded exactly one earned run in four of five starts, with an eight-run blowup inflating his 5.06 ERA for the month. He'll take a 5.06 ERA, 1.62 WHIP and 39:27 K:BB across 42.2 innings this season into a road matchup with the White Sox this weekend.

Winn (elbow) began a throwing program Monday, Evan Webeck of the California Post reports.

Monday marked Winn's first time doing any sort of throwing since he landed on the injured list June 14 with a strained right elbow. He'll presumably have to get through several bullpen sessions and rounds of live BP before the Giants begin to think about activating him, but he doesn't appear to be in line for an extended stay on the IL.

Peralta will start Tuesday's game against Atlanta as an opener.

It'll be the third opening assignment of the season for Peralta, all of which have come over the past eight days. The left-hander will likely cover an inning or two before turning things over to Griffin Canning as the bulk reliever, per Lindsay Crosby of BravesToday.com.

Manager Matt Quatraro said Tuesday that Ragans (elbow) will likely need some type of elbow surgery, but the specific procedure and potential recovery timeline remain unclear as the left-hander is scheduled to visit another doctor soon, Brian Murphy of MLB.com reports.

The 28-year-old has been on the shelf due to an elbow impingement since early May and was transferred to the 60-day IL last week after suffering a setback. Ragans can safely be ruled out for the near future, and his availability for the rest of the season is also in question as he continues to be evaluated.

The Cubs recalled Murray from Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.

Murray was acquired via trade from the Astros this past weekend and will report directly to the major-league club. The 29-year-old reliever holds a 4.68 ERA and 16:10 K:BB across 25 innings over the last two seasons during his time in the big leagues.

The Cubs optioned Hollowell to Triple-A Iowa on Tuesday.

Hollowell was with the big club for a week and allowed two runs with a 2:5 BB:K over 3.2 innings. He's being replaced on the active roster by Jayden Murray.
