The Cubs placed Roberts on the 15-day injured list Monday due to right forearm inflammation.

Roberts has allowed five runs (four earned) over his last three appearances out of the Chicago bullpen. His recent struggles may have been linked to the forearm injury, and by going on the 15-day IL, he'll be shelved until at least after the All-Star break in mid-July. Gavin Hollowell was recalled from Triple-A Iowa to give the Cubs more depth out of the bullpen in Roberts' absence.

Hiraldo (shoulder) will begin a rehab assignment Tuesday at High-A Frederick, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.

Hiraldo had been in line to make his first rehab appearance Sunday, but a rainout pushed him back a couple days in the schedule. The 30-year-old reliever has been on the injured list since April 5 due to right shoulder inflammation and could need several appearances in the minors to knock off rust and hone his command, so it wouldn't be surprising if the Orioles waited until after the All-Star break to activate him.

Orioles president of baseball operations Mike Elias said Saturday that Bautista (shoulder) has been "throwing really, really well" in his bullpen sessions, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Coming back from right labrum and rotator cuff surgery, Bautista was cleared to resume mound work last week and the team is "pretty excited about where he's at." The Orioles are holding out hope that Bautista could rejoin their bullpen before the end of the regular season, but he's a long way from having an established timeline for a return.

Selby plans to receive a second opinion on his right shoulder before continuing his rehab program, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports.

Selby has been on the shelf since Feb. 14 due to right shoulder inflammation and has made limited progress in his recovery over four months later. The second opinion should provide Selby with more clarity regarding his options for treatment. Given his lengthy layoff from throwing, surgery would seem to be a distinct possibility for the 28-year-old right-hander.

The Twins recalled Laweryson from Triple-A St. Paul on Monday.

He's taking the roster spot vacated by Anthony Banda (lat), who was moved to the injured list. Laweryson holds a 5.06 ERA and 18:7 K:BB over 16 covering 14 appearances during his time with the Twins this season.

The Twins placed Banda on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left lat strain.

Banda logged a hold in Sunday's win over the Rockies but evidently came out of the appearance with an injury. Manager Derek Shelton said Monday that Banda's strain is significant, and the reliever will be sidelined for months, not weeks, Matthew Leach of MLB.com reports.

The Rangers designated Ross for assignment Monday.

Ross made five appearances out of the Texas bullpen, allowing five runs (four earned) with a 5:2 K:BB. The 33-year-old righty is a good bet to clear waivers and could elect free agency at that point.

The Mets recalled Gerber from Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

Gerber has fared well in his opportunities in the majors this season, holding the opposition to just one run with a 6:1 K:BB over five innings. He will likely be utilized in a middle-relief role.

The Mets optioned Myers to Triple-A Syracuse on Monday.

Myers was touched up for three runs on six hits over three relief innings in Sunday's loss to the Phillies, and he's collected an uninspiring 6.21 ERA, 1.38 WHIP and 32:12 K:BB in 42 innings for the Mets this season. Joey Gerber was called up from Triple-A to replace Myers in the bullpen and on the 26-man active roster.

The Nationals recalled Cornelio from Triple-A Rochester on Monday.

Cornelio has been shaky in three appearances for the Nationals this season, logging a 6.48 ERA and 4:9 K:BB over 8.1 innings. Though most of the 26-year-old's pro experience is as a starting pitcher, he pitched in a relief role with Rochester after being sent down by the Nationals earlier this month, and he appears ticketed for the bullpen during this stint in the majors.
