Bednar picked up the save in Friday's 7-5 victory over the Reds. He allowed zero hits and two walks while striking out one over a scoreless inning.

The 28-year-old right-hander is now up to 37 saves on the year, which is tied for the NL lead and trails only Emmanuel Clase (42) on the overall MLB leaderboard. Bednar has delivered a terrific 2.08 ERA with 75 strikeouts across 65 innings this season for the Pirates.

Romano picked up the save in Friday's 6-2 win over Tampa Bay. He allowed no hits and one walk while striking out one over 1.1 scoreless innings.

Romano entered with the bases loaded in the bottom of the eighth and induced a Curtis Mead grounder to escape the jam before shutting down the Rays in the ninth. The 30-year-old closer added to his current stretch of consecutive saves, pushing the mark up to 26. He hasn't blown a save since May 20 against the Orioles. Romano has produced another steady season with a 2.40 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 69:24 K:BB over 56.1 innings.

Adam was sent for imaging scans on his left oblique after departing Friday's loss to the Blue Jays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

This is ominous news given that Adam just returned Thursday from a three-week injured list stint for a left oblique strain. He said the discomfort is in a different area this time around but acknowledged that it feels more severe. The 32-year-old high-leverage reliever is likely headed back to the IL and could be done for the remainder of 2023.

The Nationals recalled La Sorsa from Triple-A Rochester on Friday, Andrew Golden of The Washington Post reports.

The 25-year-old has posted a 5.02 ERA and 24:8 K:BB in his first 28.2 major-league innings this season between Tampa Bay and Washington. La Sorsa will give the Nats another left-handed relief option as they play out the string.

Adam left Friday's game against the Blue Jays with an apparent injury, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports.

Adam, who just returned Thursday from a three-week stay on the injured list to heal a left oblique strain, departed with a trainer at his side after uncorking a wild pitch in the top of the ninth inning. Erasmo Ramirez replaced him on the mound.

The Athletics optioned Lucas to Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Since being selected from Triple-A on Sept. 6, Lucas has surrendered six runs over 6.2 innings while striking out seven batters and walking four. As a result of his poor performance, he'll head back to the minors in favor of Zach Neal, who was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding move.

The Athletics recalled Neal from Triple-A Las Vegas on Friday.

Neal holds a miserable 7.66 ERA and 1.75 WHIP through 22.1 major-league innings this season, but the A's will bring him up from the minors to add a fresh arm to their bullpen. Easton Lucas was optioned to Triple-A in a corresponding move.

Scott posted a 2.47 ERA, 0.84 WHIP and a 29.4 K-BB% in 62 innings across 12 starts for Double-A Binghamton.

The 6-foot-4, 215-pound righty put up outstanding numbers while building up to a career-high 87.2 innings, primarily at High-A and Double-A. Scott missed almost four weeks in the second half with an undisclosed injury, but he was able to return Sept. 6 and struck out eight with zero walks in 4.2 innings across two September appearances. He is a little older than the typical Double-A pitching prospect, turning 25 in the first half of next season, but Scott has a legitimate mid-90s fastball and a plus slider. His changeup is a work in progress, but his excellent control could allow his whole arsenal to play up.

The Angels recalled Daniel from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday to pitch against Minnesota.

Davis' last appearance came on Sept. 13 with Salt Lake, where he surrendered two runs on two hits and seven walks over the course of four innings. He has yet to allow a run in the majors through three frames, but recent issues with command could cause him to get into trouble as he pitches bulk innings Friday. Aaron Loup (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list in a corresponding move.

Jackson will get the start for the Pirates in Friday's game at Cincinnati.

Jackson has been operating in a swingman role for Pittsburgh while posting a 4.82 ERA, 1.15 WHIP and 33:16 K:BB across 37.1 innings. He threw 66 pitches over 4.1 innings of long relief in his last appearance Sunday versus the Yankees.
