Bautista (elbow) threw a 25-pitch simulated game Tuesday, Jacob Calvin Meyer of The Baltimore Sun reports.

Orioles manager Brandon Hyde had revealed previously that Bautista would be throwing, and now we know he faced hitters for the first time since he was diagnosed with a partially torn UCL in his right elbow a month ago. The 28-year-old threw fastballs and off-speed pitches in the session and appeared to come out of it with no issues. According to Cordell Woodland of 105.7 The Fan Baltimore, Hyde also acknowledged the clock is ticking for Bautista to be activated before the end of the season, and the right-hander may need to see game action soon if that's to come to fruition.

Pearson was optioned to the Blue Jays' Florida Complex League affiliate Tuesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Jay Jackson is taking his spot in the bullpen. Triple-A Buffalo's season is over, which is why Pearson was sent to the FCL Blue Jays, where he can continue working out in case he's needed later on.

Jackson was recalled from Triple-A Buffalo on Tuesday, Ben Nicholson-Smith of Sportsnet.ca reports.

Jackson boasts a 2.36 ERA and 25:8 K:BB over 26.2 innings this season but has found himself being sent back and forth between the majors and minors simply because he has options. He'll work in middle relief for the Blue Jays.

Lambert (ankle) was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

The transaction frees up a spot on the 40-man roster for the addition of Tyler Naquin. Lambert is now officially done for the season with a right ankle injury that's kept him out for most of this month.

"He's feeling good," Hyde said. "He's going to throw today, we're just monitoring it right now. I'm know we're running out of time a little bit. That's the only update I can give. We'll see how he is tomorrow, if he throws well today we'll continue to progress it. But he hasn't thrown enough, he's had about a month off. We only have six games left...depending on how he feels, there is an injury in there, we wanna be smart." Hyde doesn't appear to be terribly optimistic that Bautista could return before the end of the regular season, although the reliever has seemingly already progressed more quickly than expected from his UCL tear so nothing can be ruled out. Ultimately, the Orioles' main goal figures to be getting Bautista back for the postseason, but there remains work to be done.

Ferguson will serve as the opening pitcher in the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader at Colorado, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports.

Ryan Pepiot looks poised to operate in bulk relief for the visiting Dodgers. Ferguson boasts a 2.47 ERA and 67:22 K:BB in 58.1 innings this season, but he'll probably only cover the bottom of the first Tuesday versus the Rockies.

Ginkel (9-1) was tagged with a blown save and the loss against the Yankees on Monday, allowing two runs on three hits and two walks. He struck out one.

Ginkel, who had thrown 28 pitches the day before, entered to begin the eighth inning with Arizona clinging to a 4-3 lead. That's normal terrain for Ginkel, who worked the same inning Sunday and has emerged as a reliable setup arm during the second half. Unfortunately for the Diamondbacks and their playoff hunt, he didn't have it Monday. The Yankees loaded the bases on two singles and a walk with one out, before Ginkel walked in the tying run and then allowed the winning run on a sacrifice fly. An additional run was charged to him when Everson Pereira greeted Miguel Castro with a single. Ginkel had not allowed a run in eight consecutive outings and sported a 1.82 ERA since the All-Star break entering Monday.

Bradford will serve as the Rangers' opening pitcher for Tuesday's game against the Angels.

Bradford worked into the fourth inning during his last opportunity as an opener, so he may be asked to eat a few innings before Texas turns the game over to the bullpen. He owns a 4.65 ERA,1.19 WHIP and 46:12 K:BB across 50.1 frames this season.

Holmes earned a save against the Diamondbacks on Monday, striking out two batters in a perfect inning.

Holmes threw 13 of his 15 pitches for a strike in the outing, retiring all three batters he faced to preserve a two-run advantage. The right-hander has converted all six of his save chances in September, giving up only one earned run over 10 innings. That's a marked improvement over August, when Holmes posted a 7.84 ERA and 1.84 WHIP across 10.1 frames. Overall, he's converted 22 of 25 save opportunities while registering a 2.95 ERA, 1.20 WHIP and 69:23 K:B across 61 innings.

Gonzalez was sent outright to Triple-A Jacksonville on Monday, per MLB's transactions log.

Gonzalez failed to draw any interest after being designated for assignment Wednesday, so he'll head to Triple-A after clearing waivers.
