Nick Avila RP | BAL
Orioles' Nick Avila: Claimed by O's, sent to Triple-A
Avila (undisclosed) was claimed off release waivers by the Orioles before being optioned to Triple-A Norfolk and placed on the 7-day injured list Monday, Roch Kubatko of MASNSports.com reports.
Avila was dropped from the Giants' 40-man roster Sunday, but it didn't take him long to find a new suitor. The right-hander has been out since May 31 while nursing an unspecified injury, but he will now account for the final slot on Baltimore's 40-man roster. Avila struggled to a 8.49 ERA and 1.71 WHIP with 14 strikeouts over 11.2 innings in eight appearances with San Francisco, so he'll likely have to prove himself at Norfolk before the Orioles potentially call him up to the majors.

Yimi Garcia RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Lands on IL with elbow injury
The Blue Jays placed Garcia on the 15-day injured list Monday due to right elbow ulnar neuritis.
Garcia was forced out of his save chance in Sunday's 7-6 win over Cleveland after experiencing right elbow soreness. The MRI after Sunday's game showed no structural damage to Garcia's right elbow, but it did reveal ulnar nerve symptoms, per Hazel Mae of Sportsnet. While there was optimism that Garcia would be day-to-day with the injury, he will now be on the shelf until at least the beginning of July. With Jordan Romano (elbow) still on the IL, Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that Chad Green will operate as the interim closer for Toronto, according to Mae.

Ian Gibaut RP | CIN
Reds' Ian Gibaut: Set for re-evaluation soon
Reds manager David Bell said Friday that Gibaut (forearm) is scheduled to meet with a doctor soon before the next step in his rehab process is decided, MLB.com reports.
If Gibaut gets clearance to resume baseball activities upon meeting with the doctor, Bell noted that the right-hander could be cleared to return from the 60-day injured list in as soon as six weeks. Gibaut had been shut down all season with a right forearm strain before undergoing anterior interosseous nerve release surgery May 9.

Angel Chivilli RP | NYY
Rockies' Angel Chivilli: Back to Double-A
The Rockies optioned Chivilli to Double-A Hartford on Monday.
Chivilli received his second big-league call-up of the season June 3, and over his five appearances in the majors, he gave up five runs on eight hits while striking out two over 5.1 innings. He was sent back to Double-A to clear room on the 26-man active roster and in the bullpen for right-hander Jake Bird (elbow), who was reinstated from the 15-day injured list.

Josh Rogers RP | COL
Rockies' Josh Rogers: Lands on IL with shoulder strain
The Rockies placed Rogers on the 15-day injured list Monday with a left rotator cuff strain.
Over his five major-league appearances this season, the 29-year-old southpaw registered a 6.75 ERA and 1.50 WHIP over 9.1 innings. With Rogers going on the IL and Angel Chivilli getting optioned to Double-A Hartford, the Rockies filled the open spots in the bullpen by activating Justin Lawrence (shoulder) and Jake Bird (elbow) from the IL.

Justin Lawrence RP | WAS
Rockies' Justin Lawrence: Activated from injured list
The Rockies reinstated Lawrence (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Monday.
Lawrence had been on the shelf since May 27 with a right shoulder strain. He didn't look particularly good in his lone rehab appearance with Triple-A Albuquerque on Friday, allowing two runs on three hits one walk while registering one out. The Rockies were convinced enough in the 29-year-old's health to add him back to the big-league bullpen ahead of Monday's series opener with the Dodgers. He had previously picked up two saves in his 20 appearances with the Rockies prior to landing on the IL, but Lawrence will likely serve as a setup man for closer Tyler Kinley upon his return.

Jacob Bird RP | WAS
Rockies' Jake Bird: Returns from IL
The Rockies reinstated Bird (elbow) from the 15-day injured list Monday.
Bird had been on the IL since May 19 due to right elbow inflammation. Over his three rehab appearances with Triple-A Albuquerque and the rookie-level Arizona Complex League, Bird allowed one earned run while striking out five over three innings. The 28-year-old right-hander should settle into a middle-relief or setup role for the Rockies as the team begins a four-game series Monday against the Dodgers.

Jordan Romano RP | COL
Blue Jays' Jordan Romano: Nearing mound work
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said that Romano (elbow) threw from 90-to-120 feet Monday, Kaitlyn McGrath of The Athletic reports.
According to Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star, if Romano responds well to Monday's workout, he'll be cleared to throw off a mound Wednesday for the first time since landing on the 15-day injured list June 1 with right elbow inflammation. Since he's a closer who typically doesn't pitch more than an inning in his appearances, Romano won't require an extensive ramp-up period, but the Blue Jays will still likely want to send him out on a brief minor-league rehab assignment prior to activating him from the IL. Yimi Garcia has served as the Blue Jays' primary closer while Romano has been on the shelf, but Garcia is considered day-to-day with an elbow issue of his own. Chad Green appears to be next in line for saves out of the Toronto bullpen.

Yimi Garcia RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Yimi Garcia: Day-to-day, no structural damage
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that Garcia is considered day-to-day after an MRI on his right elbow revealed no structural damage but showed "ulnar nerve symptoms," Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
According to Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star, the Blue Jays are describing the right elbow soreness that forced Garcia out of a save chance in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Guardians is being viewed as a "stinger." The club isn't too concerned about the injury, though Wilner notes that if Garcia hasn't made a full recovery by Friday, the Blue Jays won't hesitate to place him on the injured list. Schneider intimated that the Blue Jays will likely stay away from Garcia for at least Monday's game versus the Red Sox, with the skipper naming Chad Green as the team's interim closer for however long Garcia is unavailable. Before leaving early Sunday, Garcia had converted three consecutive save chances to solidify himself as the Blue Jays' preferred ninth-inning man while two-time All-Star closer Jordan Romano (elbow) remains on the IL.

Chad Green RP | TOR
Blue Jays' Chad Green: Next man up for saves
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Monday that Green will serve as the team's closer while Yimi Garcia (elbow) is day-to-day, Hazel Mae of Sportsnet reports.
Garcia was pulled from a save chance in Sunday's 7-6 win over the Guardians after experiencing right elbow soreness. The Blue Jays ended up turning to Nate Pearson to finish out the contest, but Green had been used earlier in the game and seems to be first in line to operate as Toronto's closer for any length of time that Garcia might miss. Garcia underwent an MRI on Monday that cleared him of any structural damage to his elbow, but he's still dealing with what Schneider described as "ulnar nerve symptoms" and may require a stint on the injured list. Toronto's preferred closer, Jordan Romano (elbow), is already on the IL, and if Garcia joins him, Green may have a clear runway to save chances until one of the two injured pitchers is activated. Green, who owns a 1.76 ERA and 0.85 WHIP over 15.1 innings this season, makes for a strong speculative pickup in leagues where he's still available.
