The Yankees transferred Burdi (hip) from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day IL on Sunday.

Burdi's move to the 60-day IL makes room on the 40-man roster for J.D. Davis, whom the Yankees acquired from the Athletics on Sunday. The 31-year-old Burdi has been on the shelf since May 24 with right hip inflammation. He received a platelet-rich plasma injection for his hip earlier this month, but he hasn't been cleared to start throwing and will now remain out through the All-Star break. Burdi appeared in 12 games before landing on the IL, registering a 1.86 ERA and 1.45 WHIP over 9.2 innings.

Turnbull is scheduled to join the rotation and start Wednesday against the Tigers in Detroit, Lochlahn March of The Philadelphia Inquirer reports.

He'll be taking over the rotation spot that previously belonged to Taijuan Walker, who was placed on the 15-day injured list with right index finger inflammation after developing what manager Rob Thomson termed as a "hot spot" on his pitching hand. Though an injury of this sort wouldn't seem to portend a lengthy absence for Walker, Turnbull could end up sticking around as the Phillies' No. 5 starter once Walker is healthy, so long as Turnbull comes close to recapturing the excellent form he displayed as a member of the rotation earlier this season. The Phillies have stated that they plan to monitor Turnbull's workload this season after he missed all of 2022 while recovering from Tommy John surgery and a large portion of 2023 due to neck discomfort, but the 31-year-old right-hander has made it difficult for the club to stick to that plan while he's performed so-so as a reliever (4.26 ERA, 14.1 K-BB% in 10 appearances) but exceptionally in his six starts (1.67 ERA, 20.5 K-BB%). His upcoming start against his former Tigers club will be his first since April 30, but Turnbull worked three scoreless innings (49 pitches) in his most recent relief outing Friday and is being targeted for around 70 pitches Wednesday, per Thomson.

The Pirates placed Bednar on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a strained left oblique, Alex Stumpf of MLB.com reports.

Bednar reported feeling tightness in his side during his throwing session before Saturday's contest against the Rays and wasn't available to pitch in the game. His injury was initially believed to be relatively minor, so it's possible the 29-year-old reliever will be able to return after a minimum-length stay on the IL. Until then, Aroldis Chapman will likely see the majority of save opportunities, and Justin Bruihl will come up from Triple-A to replenish the Pirates' bullpen depth.

The Athletics placed Jimenez on the 15-day injured list Sunday due to a strained left oblique.

In his most recent relief outing Wednesday against the Royals, Jimenez recorded a hold while throwing one scoreless inning, but he may have injured his oblique at some point. He's been one of Oakland's best options out of the bullpen since being recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas on May 31, posting a 2.00 ERA and 1.33 WHIP over nine innings. With Jimenez headed to the IL, the Athletics selected Aaron Brooks' contract from Las Vegas in a corresponding move.

Bukauskas (triceps) experienced a setback with his shoulder during his rehab appearance June 13 with Triple-A Nashville, but Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Monday that an MRI came back clean, MLB.com reports.

Bukauskas has been on the injured list since April 14 with a right lat strain, with the team later reclassifying his injury as a right triceps strain. Though he was able to complete his scheduled inning in his first rehab outing with Nashville, Bukauskas reported significant discomfort in his shoulder the next day. Fortunately for Bukauskas, he doesn't look to be dealing with anything more than inflammation, and Murphy said that the right-hander will be able to resume throwing once the swelling subsides. If he's cleared to report back to Nashville shortly after he starts throwing again, Bukauskas could have a shot to return from the IL before the All-Star break.

O'Brien experienced renewed pain in his right forearm following his 20-pitch live batting practice session with Double-A Springfield on June 15 and underwent further testing and and consultation with Dr. Keith Meister, MLB.com reports.

Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol touched on O'Brien's status Saturday, noting that the right-hander's consultation with Dr. Meister isn't yet complete. A decision on O'Brien next step hasn't yet been decided, but surgery could be in the cards for the 29-year-old if Dr. Meister doesn't recommend rest and rehab as a treatment method. O'Brien won a spot in the Cardinals' Opening Day bullpen coming out of spring training but made just one appearance before landing on the injured list with a right flexor tendon strain.

The Rangers optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Round Rock on Sunday.

Rodriguez was recalled by the big club for the third time June 18, but he did not make an appearance out of the Rangers' bullpen. Over 12 major-league appearances this season, Rodriguez has a 6.88 ERA and 1.59 WHIP over 17 innings. His move to Triple-A is to make room for Max Scherzer (back/thumb), who was reinstated off the 60-day injured list ahead of his start Sunday against the Royals.

The Marlins selected Emanuel's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.

Miami designated Emanuel for assignment Wednesday, but he stuck around in the organization and will now return to the big-league club just a few days later as the Marlins contend with a plethora of injuries to their pitching staff. The 32-year-old southpaw has worked exclusively as a reliever throughout his big-league career, but he has experience as a starter in the minors and will provide some length out of the Miami bullpen.

The Marlins selected Tyler's contract from Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.

Tyler will be making his first career MLB start Sunday, taking the place of Braxton Garrett (forearm), who landed on the 15-day IL. The 27-year-old Tyler owns a 2.80 ERA and 1.18 WHIP through 45 innings in Triple-A, and he allowed one run in two innings during his only other MLB outing this season.

The Marlins optioned Anderson to Triple-A Jacksonville on Sunday.

Anderson was called upon to start in place of Jesus Luzardo (back) on Saturday, giving up six runs (five earned) on eight hits over just 3.1 innings in a loss to the Mariners. He'll now head back to Jacksonville following his rough outing, though it's possible the 29-year-old righty makes another start in the near future with the Miami rotation having been hit hard by injuries.
