Hader struck out two over a perfect ninth inning to pick up the save over the Marlins on Thursday.

Hader entered the contest with a three-run lead in the ninth and struck out two of the three batters he faced. It marked the veteran lefty's 17th save of the campaign in 18 chances and he's now posted two strikeouts in back-to-back appearances. Hader also hasn't allowed any hits or runs over his last two outings after previously giving up a run in four of six.

Anderson earned a save against Oakland on Thursday, allowing two hits and striking out five batters over three scoreless innings.

After Tanner Houck tossed six scoreless frames, Anderson completed the shutout with three scoreless innings of his own. He struck out five in the impressive outing and threw 28 of 39 pitches for strikes. The save was the third of the season for the righty reliever, all of which have been three frames in length. From a fantasy perspective, there's no reason for managers chasing saves to take a look at Anderson given his middle-relief role and consequent unpredictability of save opportunities.

Fairbanks allowed one run on one hit and two walks over one inning to record a save against the Yankees on Thursday.

Fairbanks got the ball with a two-run lead in the ninth frame and nearly blew the opportunity. He walked two of the first three batters he faced but managed to get Aaron Judge to foul out with one out. However, Ben Rice followed with an RBI single to plate a run and put the tying run on third base. Fairbanks escaped the jam by getting Gleyber Torres to pop out and thus recorded his 16th save. The run he allowed Thursday was just his second over his past seven appearances, and he's gone 6-for-6 in save chances during that span.

Green picked up the save Thursday against San Francisco, striking out one and allowing a solo home run in the ninth inning.

Green retired Michael Conforto and Matt Chapman to start the bottom of the ninth inning but was taken yard by Mike Yastrzemski before closing out the frame and earning his fifth save of the season. Green has allowed five runs in 24 innings this season, each of which have come via solo homer. The 33-year-old is expected to hand over closing duties to Yimi Garcia (elbow) when Garcia is activated off the IL, but in the meantime, Green should continue to see ninth-inning work for Toronto.

Howard (1-2) took the loss Thursday, allowing four runs on seven hits and three walks over three innings against the Tigers. He struck out four.

It's a new team but a similar result for Howard, as he required 75 pitches to get through three frames. The right-hander was acquired from San Francisco last Friday and was making his debut for the Guardians after posting a 5.62 ERA and 1.83 WHIP in 24 innings for the Giants. He now has a 6.33 ERA and 2.00 WHIP for the campaign. Howard replaced Logan Allen, who was sent down to Triple-A, in the Guardians' rotation, but with the All-Star break looming, it remains to be seen how the club fills out their rotation to begin the second half.

Jameson (elbow) will throw another bullpen session Friday, Alex Weiner of ArizonaSports.com reports.

Jameson is set to throw his third bullpen session since July 5. He's been ruled out for the rest of 2024, though his progress bodes well for his availability to begin 2025.

The Diamondbacks reinstated Castro (shoulder) from the 15-day injured list Thursday.

Castro pitched two innings in his final rehab appearance Saturday and gave up no runs on one hit with a walk and a strikeout. The right-hander is now set to make his return after he landed on the injured list due to right shoulder inflammation in late April. In a corresponding move, Slade Cecconi was optioned to Triple-A Reno.

Manager Aaron Boone said Thursday that Hamilton (lat) has begun a throwing program, Gary Phillips of the New York Daily News reports.

Hamilton was slated to be shut down from throwing for 3-to-4 weeks after a mid-grade lat strain sent him to the injured list June 18, so he seems to still be right on schedule in his rehab process. The Yankees have yet to set a target return date for the 29-year-old, but a timeline may emerge once he's thrown a few bullpen sessions.

MRI results on Garrett's right elbow revealed no ligament damage Thursday, Tim Britton of The Athletic reports.

Garrett will remain shut down from throwing for roughly one week while his inflammation subsides before beginning a throwing program shortly after the All-Star break. His return will depend on how he feels as he moves through his rehab process, but manager Carlos Mendoza said he expects the 31-year-old righty to be sidelined roughly 2-to-4 weeks.

Chapman picked up the save Thursday against Milwaukee, striking out one batter during a perfect ninth inning.

Chapman inherited a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the ninth inning and required only nine pitches to retire Christian Yelich, Willy Adames and Sal Frelick in order. Chapman has consistently seen ninth-inning work since David Bednar (oblique) got injured June 22, but Chapman's allowed five runs (four earned) on six hits and six walks across 7.2 innings with three saves in four opportunities during that stretch.
