  • Nick Wittgren RP | SEA

Marlins' Nick Wittgren: Recalled from Triple-A

Wittgren was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Tuesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.

Wittgren was recalled after the Marlins placed Nefi Ogando on the 15-day DL. This will be the 24-year-old's second stint with the big league club this season after giving up one earned run in two innings of relief in April.

  • Devin Williams RP | NYM

Brewers' Devin Williams: Ready to pitch in affiliated ball

Williams (shoulder) will report to Low-A Wisconsin this week, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Williams was brought along slowly this spring after dealing with a shoulder injury, but he is ready to go after spending a few weeks pitching at the Brewers' extended spring training complex. Williams appeared in 22 games with Wisconsin last season and posted a 3.44 ERA and 89:36 K:BB ratio over 89 innings.

  • Vin Mazzaro RP | CIN

Giants' Vin Mazzaro: Accepts assignment to Triple-A

Mazzaro has joined Sacramento after accepting his assignment to Triple-A, Joe Salvatore of KCBS Radio reports.

Mazzaro was designated by the Giants on Friday after two appearances which resulted in an ERA of 63.00 and WHIP of 8.00. Despite the obviously horrendous start to the season, the 29-year-old still has plenty of major league experience and could certainly find his way back to the Giants' bullpen at a later point in the summer.

  • George Kontos RP | CLE

Giants' George Kontos: On track for return next week

Kontos (elbow) is in line for rehab appearances Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday at Triple-A Sacramento, Andrew Baggarly of the San Jose Mercury News reports. If everything proceeds as planned, Kontos will be activated during next week's series against the Padres, according to Hank Schulman of the San Francisco Chronicle.

On Monday, Kontos played catch with Andrew Susac (shoulder) from 60-75 feet, which follows his first rehab appearance Sunday. During that outing, he tossed a scoreless frame with one hit and one strikeout. If he completes the upcoming trio of games without a setback, he likely revive his role in the middle innings within the Giants' bullpen.

  • Jose De Leon RP | BOS

Dodgers' Jose De Leon: Getting extra rest before next start

De Leon reported a sore arm after his season debut last week, prompting the Dodgers to give him extra time before his next start, Bill Shaikin of the Los Angeles Times reports.

While he impressed in his season debut last week, that he came away with enough additional soreness to require a schedule adjustment is concerning. Health permitting, De Leon seems likely to contribute in some capacity for the Dodgers later this season.

  • Matt Bowman RP | MIN

Cardinals' Matt Bowman: Surrenders four runs Sunday

Bowman was hit hard in relief Sunday in the loss to Pittsburgh surrendering four runs on three hits and a walk without recording an out.

Bowman saw his ERA skyrocket nearly three runs to 5.25 after the poor outing. He's provided some decent relief pitching for the most part for St. Louis, but it's doubtful he'll have value in fantasy leagues anytime soon.

  • Hector Neris RP | HOU

Phillies' Hector Neris: Picks up win in relief

Neris picked up his first win of the season while tossing 1.2 scoreless innings in Sunday's 6-5 win over the Marlins.

Neris collected one strikeout in the outing, giving him 28 whiffs in just 20 innings this season. He'll continue to function as the top setup man to closer Jeanmar Gomez, and his strong ratios make him an attractive pickup in deeper or NL-only formats.

  • Yimi Garcia RP | TOR

Dodgers' Yimi Garcia: Yet to resume throwing

Garcia (biceps) has yet to resume throwing, and no return date is in sight, the Dodgers' official site reports.

Garcia last pitched back on April 23, and it's obviously not a good sign that he's yet to pick up a baseball. He remains out indefinitely.

  • Mark Melancon RP | ARI

Pirates' Mark Melancon: Notches ninth save Sunday

Melancon came on with the bases loaded and one out in the ninth inning Sunday, but quickly induced Yadier Molina to ground into a double play for his ninth save of the season.

It's not often a pitcher gets a save protecting a five-run lead, but it's been that kind of season for Melancon. There's no doubt about his job status, and he sports a solid 2.77 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 11:2 K:BB through 13 innings.

  • Jeanmar Gomez RP | CHW

Phillies' Jeanmar Gomez: Records 11th save Sunday

Gomez earned his 11th save with a scoreless ninth inning while allowing one hit and striking out two Sunday at the Marlins.

Gomez was protecting a one-run lead, and after giving up an infield hit with two out, he set down the side without any further drama. He's now 11-for-12 in save opportunities, and he has a 2.41 ERA.
