Adleman (oblique) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday.

Adleman exited Thursday's start in the fourth inning due to what was eventually diagnosed as a strained left oblique. He was scheduled for an MRI on Friday, and the team has since determined that Adleman will require a stint on the DL. The Reds recalled outfielder Steve Selsky from Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move Friday.

Boscan pitched well in his debut Thursday, allowing just one hit in two scoreless innings.

The Pirates have had plenty of trouble with their bullpen thus far and Boscan could settle into a middle-inning role. He was recalled on three separate occasions in 2015 but never pitched in a game.

According to Rosecrans, manager Bryan Price did not sound overly optimistic about Adleman's oblique injury that caused him to leave Thursday's start in the fourth inning. Oblique injuries can be tricky for pitchers, so Friday's MRI figures to shed more light on Adleman's prognosis. As of Thursday night, he is believed to be dealing with a strained left oblique.

Herein lies our obligatory reminder that timetable for oblique injuries are notoriously unreliable. We'll await word from the Reds on how long they expect Adleman to be out nonetheless.

Adleman left Thursday's game in the fourth inning with an apparent injury, C. Trent Rosecrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

It wasn't obvious what was ailing Adleman, but he seemed to be favoring his side. Adleman gave up a two-run homer to Carlos Santana in the fourth inning prior to exiting (76 pitches). The Reds are dealing with a slew of injuries in the rotation, and if Adleman is forced to miss time, the team may consider giving one of their top pitching prospects an opportunity.

Garcia was optioned to Double-A Jacksonville on Thursday, Joe Capozzi of The Palm Beach Post reports.

It was a brief first stint with the Marlins for Garcia, who did not appear in a game after he was promoted on Sunday. He figures to return to the Jacksonville rotation, where he has notched a 4.04 ERA with 30 strikeouts against 19 walks in seven starts this season.

Matzek (personal) was reinstated from the 15-day DL on Thursday and optioned to High-A Modesto.

The left-hander started the season on the disabled list due to an anxiety issue, but he has been gradually progressing throughout the spring. He's off the disabled list as of Thursday, but he will continue to work at High-A Modesto for the time being as he ramps up his workload.

Boscan was called up from Triple-A Indianapolis on Thursday, Bill Brink of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.

Boscan has been impressive in seven starts with the Triple-A squad, posting a 2.48 ERA with only four walks in 40 innings pitched. This was good enough to warrant a callup to the big leagues and a spot on the 40-man roster, although he'll likely fill a long relief role rather than a starting role for Pittsburgh. Left-hander Cory Luebke was optioned to Triple-A to make room for him on the major league roster, while Elias Diaz was transferred to the 60-day disabled list to make room for him on the 40-man roster.

Reyes (suspension) will make his season debut for Triple-A Memphis on Sunday against Fresno, Scott Wuerz of the Belleville News-Democrat reports.

His 50-game suspension concludes Thursday and the Redbirds will insert him into the rotation Sunday, which is a welcome occurrence for the Cardinals and his dynasty league owners. Few pitching prospects, if any, can match Reyes' strikeout potential, and he could move to the big leagues quickly if he lives up to expectations with Memphis. If there is not an opening in the Cardinals' rotation, it's possible Reyes could be deployed first as a reliever, a la Adam Wainwright and Carlos Martinez, but long term he has the pitches and the frame to pitch atop a big league rotation.

De La Rosa (groin) will have his next start skipped thanks to some timely off days on the schedule, the Arizona Republic's Sarah McLellan reports. "He's got some nagging groin issues, some blister stuff," manager Chip Hale said. "Nothing that would keep him off. If we had no days off, he would pitch. It's an opportunity to give him a little bit of a break."

Robbie Ray will move up to start Saturday with Zack Greinke moving up to start Sunday. De La Rosa will likely return in the series against the Pirates in Pittsburgh next week from May 24-26. The righty has won four of his last six starts and given up one or fewer runs in all but one of those games.
