Garcia (biceps) was transferred to the 60-day disabled list Friday, Eric Stephen of SB Nation reports.

With the Dodgers calling up top-prospect Julio Urias, a spot on the 40-man roster needed to be cleared. Considering there is still no timetable for Garcia's return, he was an obvious candidate to be sent to the 60-day DL to clear a spot. He'll stay on the 60-day DL as long as he continues to make little to no progress in his rehab program.

Gsellman gave up eight hits and three earned runs while striking out five during 6.2 innings of work on Thursday.

Gsellman missed a start due to a strained groin injury that caused him to spend a week on the disabled list after the mild incident occurred on May 13. Since then, he has made two starts for Double-A Binghamton, allowing three earned runs in each and picking up losses in both outings. Before the injury Gsellman held an impressive 2.21 ERA and 1.04 WHIP, and with a 42:13 strikeout to walk ratio this season, he has the ability to keep opposing hitters off the basepaths. The 22-year-old could earn the chance to compete at a higher level at some point this year if he can settle back in and continue to pitch well for his club.

Miller (finger) will likely go on the disabled list Friday, Ken Rosenthal of FOX Sports reports.

There was some talk about Miller missing his next start after manager Chip Hale made it seem as if the right-hander's finger injury from mid-April is still affecting him, but it seems that the issue is even worse than that. It's unclear if it's been hampering his recent starts, possibly explaining the rough 1-6 start to the season he's gotten off to, but that should become clearer once more light is shed on the issue. If he does head to the DL, the Diamondbacks will have a hole to fill in their starting rotation, which could be filled by either a minor leaguer or by Josh Collmenter (shoulder) if he's able to come off the DL.

Smith (knee) is planning on playing in back-to-back games for Triple-A Colorado Springs before rejoining the Brewers, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

Smith has pitched twice for High-A Brevard County during his rehab assignment, compiling three shutout innings while only allowing one baserunner and striking out four. The bigger news is that the 26-year-old reliever hasn't suffered any setbacks and is on track to join the Brewers in June. Once Smith returns to the fold, he will most likely begin his 2016 campaign as a setup man out of the bullpen.

Miller is scheduled to start Sunday against the Padres, but plans could change as the team seeks to evaluate if Miller is completely healthy, MLB.com reports.

Manager Chip Hale's words on the matter were ominous, as he said Miller's finger "is still not where we'd like it to be" and "it's not about his next start or three starts from now, it's about this long time that we have him." Miller hit his hand off the mound at Petco Park twice during his April 16 start, forcing him from the game, but there was no indication until now that the finger was still an issue. The 25-year-old gave up six runs in five innings against Pittsburgh his last time out to fall to 1-6 on the year.

Wittgren was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans on Thursday, Craig Davis of the Sun Sentinel reports.

Wittgren will replace reliever Bryan Morris in the bullpen while he is on the disabled list with a herniated disc in his lower back. Wittgren posted a 3.18 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in 5.2 innings during his two stints in the majors this season.

Smith (knee) threw a scoreless inning with High-A Brevard County on Tuesday in his first rehab appearance.

Smith allowed a hit, struck out a batter, and threw 15 pitches (nine strikes) in Tuesday's outing. More importantly, no setbacks were reported following the contest, so his rehab process remains on track. He figures to throw several more times in the minors and is on track to join the Brewers in June.

Melancon allowed a hit, but he managed to pick up the save Wednesday against the Diamondbacks.

Melancon allowed a two-out double to put a runner on scoring position, but he forced Tomas to fly out on a 2-2 count to pick up the save. Melancon has had another solid season as Pittsburgh's closer, converting 15 of his 16 save opportunities and boasting a 2.21 ERA.

De La Rosa (4-5) surrendered two home runs and ended allowing five runs on nine hits while striking out four against the Pirates on Wednesday.

De La Rosa has surrendered at least one homer in three of the past four games, and he failed to reach the fifth inning for the first time since April 18. The 27-year-old righty had one his worst outings of the campaign, and he'll look to bounce back in his next start against the Astros on Monday.

Gomez retired the Tigers in order to earn his league-leading 17th save of the season Wednesday afternoon.

The Phillies closer induced a ground out, fly out and line out. Despite this being only his second appearance in a week, Gomez still leads all of baseball in saves. He also has a 2.45 ERA, 1.09 WHIP and 18 strikeouts in 25.2 innings.
