  • Reds' Raisel Iglesias: Throws bullpen session

Iglesias (shoulder) threw a 25-pitch bullpen session at extended spring training Friday.

Extended spring training is slated to end soon, but fortunately Iglesias is close to beginning a rehab assignment.

  • Adam Ottavino RP | NYY

Rockies' Adam Ottavino: Throws live BP session

Ottavino (elbow) threw a live batting practice session Saturday.

Ottavino is nearing the final stages of his recovery from Tommy John surgery, and he threw 21 pitches at Coors Field on Saturday. The right-hander remains without a firm return timetable, but he would appear to be on track to return sometime around the All-Star break, barring a setback.

  • Braves' Arodys Vizcaino: Notches sixth save with clean ninth versus Marlins

Vizcaino notched his sixth save with a perfect ninth inning in Friday's 4-2 victory over the Marlins. He struck out a batter as well.

The 25-year-old closer had no trouble setting the Marlins down in order in the final frame, while notching at least one strikeout for the 17th straight appearance. It was also Vizcaino's fourth consecutive successful conversion of a save opportunity in May, and brought his ERA down to a stellar 1.31.

  • Chris Rusin RP | COL

Rockies' Chris Rusin: Start pushed back to Sunday

Rusin's next scheduled start has been pushed back to Sunday, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports.

Eddie Butler will replace Rusin as the starter for Saturday's matchup. The Rockies endured consecutive poor starts earlier in the week, which resulted in Rusin being made available for relief Thursday. He then had to push his side session back to Friday. After giving up just three runs through 16 innings in April, Rusin has struggled in May to the tune of a 5.66 ERA.

  • Will Smith RP | KC

    Brewers' Will Smith: Nearing return

Smith (knee) is headed to Biloxi and it's expected that he'll be ready to return before the Brewers' series in Philadelphia next week at the latest, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.

Once Smith returns, it's expected that he'll quickly return to a role in the late innings for the Brewers, likely setting up closer Jeremy Jeffress.

  • Andrew Chafin RP | CIN

Diamondbacks' Andrew Chafin: Optioned to Triple-A

Chafin was optioned to Triple-A Reno on Friday.

With a 9.00 ERA and 1.77 WHIP in 23 appearances, the D-backs opted to replace Chafin in their bullpen with a series of moves prior to the start of their weekend series with the Padres. If he can turn things around at Reno, Chafin could be back in the fold with the D-backs in a few weeks.

  • Silvino Bracho RP | CIN

Diamondbacks' Silvino Bracho: Recalled by D-backs

Bracho was recalled by the D-backs on Friday.

After posting a 29:4 K:BB in 19 innings with Reno, Bracho will get another look from the D-backs with the hope of making his latest stint with the big club a permanent one.

  • Dominic Leone RP | CHW

Diamondbacks' Dominic Leone: Recalled by D-backs

Leone was recalled by the D-backs on Friday.

He'll add depth in the bullpen for Arizona after a flurry of moves Friday afternoon. Although he struggled in his two appearances for the D-backs earlier this season, the 24-year-old Leone could emerge to stick in a middle-relief role if he can replicate his success with Reno (2.12 ERA, 1.18 WHIP) with the big club.

  • Diamondbacks' Rubby De La Rosa: Placed on DL Friday

De La Rosa was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday with right elbow inflammation.

It's unclear when this issue cropped up, but it could be related to the start he skipped earlier in the month. Regardless, the 27-year-old expects to miss about a month while nursing the ailment and doesn't think surgery is an option. Josh Collmenter was reinstated from the disabled list and Dominic Leone and Silvino Bracho were recalled from Triple-A to bolster the bullpen, but the Diamondbacks will likely have to make another move in order to fill De La Rosa's spot in the rotation when that rolls along Monday.

  • Shelby Miller RP | CHC

Diamondbacks' Shelby Miller: Officially placed on DL Friday

Miller (finger) was placed on the 15-day disabled list Friday.

As expected, Miller will head to the DL for what is now being classified as a right finger sprain. It's unclear how severe the injury is, but a timetable for his return should become clearer once he's able to begin throwing again. The Diamondbacks reinstated Josh Collmenter from the DL and called up Dominic Leone and Silvino Bracho from Triple-A Reno to solidify the bullpen until Sunday when they need another starter, when they may call up Archie Bradley from the minors.
