Gomez retired the side in order to register his 23rd save of the season Wednesday against the Braves.

He threw six of 10 pitches for strikes and recorded three groundballs. Gomez has allowed just one hit over the last three frames and just one run over his last 7.2 innings. He is 23-for-25 in save opportunities with a 2.68 ERA, 1.12 WHIP and 25 strikeouts in 40.1 innings.

Leone was recalled from Triple-A on Wednesday.

Leone has been a solid reliever at the Triple-A level, posting a 3.86 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 8.7 K/9 in 29 games. The 24-year-old will look improve in his second major league stint of the season after giving up four earned runs in three innings during his previous callup.

Reyes was sharp Monday, giving up only one earned run against Triple-A Nashville. His nine strikeouts were the most he has had since June 13, also against Nashville.

General manager John Mozeliak has mentioned that Reyes needs to continue getting his work in before he gets considered as an option for the Cardinals this season. However, Mozeliak also mentioned that Reyes is the type of guy the Cardinals like to put in the back-end of their bullpen as it gets closer to the end of the season. The Cardinals took a similar approach with former top prospect Carlos Martinez. Reyes will need to continue working on his control at Triple-A before the Cardinals decide to promote him to St. Louis.

Gearrin blew the lead Tuesday, giving up four runs over two-thirds of an inning against the Rockies.

Gearrin was ineffective Tuesday, allowing four of the six batters he faced to reach base. The big blow was dealt by Nolan Arenado when he smashed a hanging slider into left field giving the Rockies the lead and the win. Gearrin has now imploded twice over his past five outings, surrendering two home runs over that span. As a sinker-slider-changeup reliever, he will not be successful if he doesn't keep his pitches down in the strike zone, something he is having trouble with right now. While he carried some value in leagues that count holds, it may be best to look at other options until he rights the ship.

Hader, 22, has a 6.38 ERA and 31:14 K:BB in 24 innings since being promoted to Triple-A.

Hader's recent struggles should certainly cool the talk of an imminent promotion to the big leagues. He has been wild but also hittable, as opposing batters are hitting .297 against him at this level. In two of his last three starts he has allowed at least six earned runs. Hader should pitch in the Futures Game and may still end up being a September callup for the Brewers.

Rusin (shoulder) threw 30 pitches Tuesday and is close to starting a rehab assignment, Nick Groke of the Denver Post reports.

Rusin has been out since mid-June with a shoulder strain, but it seems his recovery from that injury is moving along nicely. The left-hander primarily acts as a long reliever, though, so he'll likely need to ramp up his pitch count during the impending rehab assignment before a return from the disabled list can come into view.

Rodney allowed a solo home run during the eighth inning of Tuesday's win over the Mets.

Rodney also had a rough outing on Monday and took the loss, and has now allowed three earned runs over his first four innings in Miami after allowing just one earned run in 24 appearances (24.2 innings pitched) for San Diego to open the season. He's struggled with his command lately, walking five batters in his last 7.1 innings pitched. Rodney could face competition for the eighth inning job from displaced setup man David Phelps if he continues to struggle.

De Los Santos was shelled in his start for High-A Lake Elsinore on Tuesday, allowing five earned runs on three home runs while failing to make it out of the first inning.

De Los Santos has been inconsistent since being called up to High-A a month ago, posting two quality starts and three poor ones for a 6.64 ERA overall. The 20-year-old Dominican right-hander pitched superbly in Low-A Fort Wayne earlier this season, posting a 2.91 ERA and 0.99 WHIP, and will hope to recapture that consistency as he moves forward.

Alvarez pitched 1.1 perfect innings of relief Tuesday against the Phillies, striking out all four batters he faced.

The four strikeouts brought Alvarez's total to an astonishing 19 over just 8.2 innings since being called up less than a month ago. He's allowed just a single run over that span and figures to continue to see more big league innings if he keeps mowing down hitters at his current rate.

Iglesias threw three scoreless innings in relief Tuesday against the Cubs. He topped out at 98.4 mph with his fastball and 88.6 mph with his slider, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

Iglesias has thrived in relief, throwing a 0.87 ERA there since returning from the DL. Reds manager Bryan Price suggested that his ability to pitch in short outings has made his repertoire more dynamic. "What we are seeing right now is his very best stuff in shorter spurts," Price said.
