Suter (2-1) scattered four hits and a walk over seven scoreless innings in Friday's 2-1 win over the Cubs. He struck out five.

The lefty outdueled fellow southpaw Jose Quintana, firing 54 of 82 pitches for strikes before handing things over to the bullpen. Suter has been a revelation in July, posting a 1.50 ERA, 1.00 WHIP and 25:5 K:BB in 30 innings over five starts, and while Matt Garza (leg) and Chase Anderson (oblique) are both set to rejoin the rotation over the next couple of weeks, it's hard to imagine Suter losing his spot given his current form. He'll next take the mound Wednesday at home against the Cardinals.

Hand tossed a clean inning while picking up his third save in as many days in a 3-2 win over the Pirates.

The 27-year-old has acclimated well to closing games in San Diego, going 3-for-3 in save opportunities since taking over for the traded Brandon Maurer. The Padres continue to listen to offers for the dominant lefty, which could lead to a deal prior to Monday's trade deadline. A move may land Hand in a situation where he isn't closing games anymore, but that shouldn't stop fantasy owners from taking advantage of his recent outburst of saves.

Kontos was charged with an earned run and a blown save in one-third of an inning against the Dodgers on Friday.

July has not been kind to the veteran reliever, as he has posted a 7.36 ERA in 12 appearances, inflating his season ERA by a whole run (3.83) in the process. On the bright side, Kontos has maintained his career-best 9.7 K/9, but he has simply been too hittable (1.32 WHIP) to be relied upon as a fantasy option.

Jansen struck out all three Giants he faced in the ninth inning Friday to record his 26th save on the year.

Jansen needed just 13 pitches to breeze through the ninth inning, lowering his ERA to 1.39 and his WHIP to an astounding 0.64 over 45.1 innings. The closer also improved his K/9 to a major-league leading 22.7, making him all the more valuable as a fantasy piece.

Moore (3-10) went 6.1 innings against the Dodgers on Friday, allowing four runs (three earned) on three hits and four walks, striking out six and receiving a no-decision.

The southpaw fared much better than in his last outing against the Dodgers, when he surrendered nine earned runs over 3.1 innings in a blowout loss, but he suffered a let-down when his bullpen couldn't get him out of the seventh inning. Other than a Corey Seager home run in the first inning, Moore held the Dodger bats in check for most of the night but walked Enrique Hernandez and allowed a double to Joc Pederson before exiting in the seventh. George Kontos promptly allowed both runners to score, hurting the starter's overall line. Although Moore has shown far more consistency over his last three starts, it's still tough to trust the 28-year-old in fantasy formats considering his 5.74 ERA and 4.66 FIP, though his 7.60 K/9 could inspire some hope.

Cleavinger was traded to the Phillies, in addition to Hyun Soo Kim and international signing slots, for Jeremy Hellickson and cash considerations Friday, Dan Connolly of BaltimoreBaseball.com reports.

Cleavinger, a 2015 draft pick, has struggled through a rough 2017 campaign with Double-A Bowie this year, racking up a 6.28 ERA and 1.58 WHIP over 38.2 innings in relief, but the Phillies seem to sense potential in the left-hander. Expect the 23-year-old to serve as organizational depth moving forward, as he clearly needs further development before being deemed ready for the majors.

Thompson was placed on the disabled list with Low-A Fort Wayne due to shoulder inflammation, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports.

No word on the severity of the issue has come forth, so a timetable for his return is tough to gauge, especially given how liberally minor league squads use the disabled list. Prior to the injury, Thompson produced a 4.67 ERA and a 28:12 K:BB in seven starts (27 innings) for the TinCaps.

Wittgren was placed on the 10-day disabled list with a right elbow strain Friday.

The DL stint caps off a difficult month of July for Wittgren, who has posted an 8.18 ERA and concerning 11:7 K:BB over 10 appearances, including his last outing in which he allowed three earned runs while recording just two outs. There's no timetable for Wittgren's return at this point, but Odrisimar Despaigne was recalled from Triple-A New Orleans to take his spot in the bullpen.

Maton fired 1.1 perfect innings while striking out three and picking up his fifth hold in Thursday's win over the Mets.

Brad Hand took over the Padres' closing role as expected, but he remains a candidate to be traded before Monday's deadline. If that were to happen, Maton -- along with Kirby Yates -- would be a potential replacement in the ninth. Those speculating for saves may want to take a flyer on the rookie in the event he is seeing save opportunities following the trade deadline.

Beede (groin) is expected to miss the rest of the season, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area reports.

It's unfortunate timing for Beede, who was expected to be a late-season call-up for the struggling Giants but instead departs for the team's spring training facility in Arizona to begin rehab. The prospect suffered a groin injury while warming up for a start with Triple-A Sacramento, where he owns a 4.79 ERA over 19 starts this season. There still remains a possibility Beede could be back by late September, though it appears he's more likely to make his next appearance in the upcoming Arizona Fall League.
