Tanner Rainey RP | DET
Reds' Tanner Rainey: Returns to Cincinnati
The Reds recalled Rainey from Triple-A Louisville on Wednesday.
Cincinnati will bring up a pair of relievers in Rainey and Cody Reed from Triple-A to bolster the bullpen after long reliever Dylan Floro was traded to the Dodgers prior to Wednesday's game against the White Sox. Rainey has previously made six appearances for the Reds, surrendering nine runs on six hits and nine walks over six innings. Those poor numbers will likely force him to settle for a low-leverage relief role while he's up with the big club.

Carl Edwards RP | DET
Cubs' Carl Edwards Jr.: In line to return Friday
Edwards (shoulder) is expected to return from the 10-day disabled list ahead of Friday's series opener against the Reds, Jesse Rogers of ESPN.com reports.
The Cubs had hoped to bring Edwards back from the DL earlier in the week, but those plans were scrapped after he retired only two of the five batters he faced and issued two walks in his second rehab outing with Triple-A Iowa on Monday. Edwards is scheduled to make another appearance Wednesday for Iowa and should be cleared to rejoin the Cubs afterward if he fares respectably in the outing. Once Edwards is reinstated from the DL, expect him to slot back in as one of the top setup men for closer Brandon Morrow.

Dillon Peters RP | PIT
Marlins' Dillon Peters: Called up from minors
The Marlins recalled Peters from Triple-A New Orleans on Wednesday, Joe Frisaro of MLB.com reports.
Peters will offer the Marlins some much-needed length out of the bullpen after seven relievers were used in Tuesday's 9-6 loss in 16 innings. The lefty opened the season in the Miami rotation before losing his spot in early May after giving up 16 runs and posting a 16:13 K:BB in 24.2 innings over his five starts.

Evan Phillips RP | LAD
Braves' Evan Phillips: Heads back to minors
The Braves optioned Phillips to Triple-A Gwinnett on Wednesday.
Phillips probably wouldn't have been available out of the Atlanta bullpen for at least the next two games after covering 2.1 innings in long relief during Tuesday's 8-5 loss to the Yankees. With that in mind, the Braves sent Phillips back to the minors and brought up a fresh arm in Luiz Gohara from Triple-A to offer reinforcement to the bullpen.

Tim Collins RP | CHC
Nationals' Tim Collins: Dropped from 40-man roster
The Nationals designated Collins for assignment Wednesday, Jamal Collier of MLB.com reports.
Collins was removed from the active and 40-man roster to clear a spot for Matt Adams (finger), who was activated from the 10-day disabled list following a three-week absence. The lefty reliever accrued a 2.77 ERA, 1.54 WHIP and 8:6 K:BB over 13 innings across 17 appearances -- his first in the big leagues since 2014. Collins is expected to report to Triple-A Syracuse if the Nationals are unable to find a trade partner for him and if he goes unclaimed off waivers.

Trevor Richards RP | CHW
Marlins' Trevor Richards: Allows four runs in no-decision
Richards allowed four runs on nine hits with no walks across five innings in a no-decision Tuesday against the Rays. He struck out five.
Richards got off to an inauspicious start in this one, allowing a two-run home run to Wilson Ramos in the first inning before giving up two more runs on four hits in the second. He breezed through the next three frames with less difficulty, throwing 68 percent of his pitches for strikes as he went without a walk for the second time this season. Richards' overall line doesn't look particularly impressive, but his 16:4 K:BB over the last three starts indicates he could be beginning to find his way at the big-league level. He'll face a much tougher test this weekend against the Nationals.

Brad Hand RP | ATL
Padres' Brad Hand: Unavailable Tuesday
Manager Andy Green stated that Hand was unavailable in Tuesday's loss to the Athletics due to a family matter, but Hand will be back with the club prior to Wednesday's series finale, MLB.com's AJ Cassavell reports.
No further details regarding the issue were revealed, but the good news is that Hand won't miss any additional time. The Padres dropped Tuesday's contest 6-2, so fantasy owners didn't miss out on a potential save opportunity. Hand owns a 3.12 ERA and 12.9 K/9 and has converted 23 of his 27 save chances this year.

Brad Boxberger RP | CHC
Diamondbacks' Brad Boxberger: Notches 20th save of season
Boxberger pitched a hitless ninth inning to earn the save against the Cardinals on Tuesday, striking out two while walking one.
Pitching for the first time in six days, Boxberger retired the Cardinals to pick up his 20th save of the season. The right-hander now has 41 strikeouts in 30.1 innings but has also issued 16 walks in the process, accounting for the relatively high 1.32 WHIP. Boxberger blew three saves in nine chances in the month of June, and he'll look to right the ship and solidify himself again for the Diamondbacks going forward.

Clay Holmes SP | CHC
Pirates' Clay Holmes: Tabbed as Wednesday's starter
Holmes has been confirmed as Wednesday's starter on the road against the Dodgers, Adam Berry of MLB.com reports.
The big 6-foot-5, 230-pound righty has a big fastball that allows the rest of his arsenal to play up when he's on. He has a 3.39 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 71 strikeouts in 66.1 innings at Triple-A. If Joe Musgrove (finger) is able to return from the disabled list next week Tuesday, when eligible, this will likely just be a spot start for Holmes.

Raisel Iglesias RP | ATL
Reds' Raisel Iglesias: Third blown save
Iglesias gave up a solo home run while striking out one in an inning Tuesday against the White Sox, and was charged with his third blown save of the year.
He gave up a solo shot to Avisail Garcia (his second of the game). Even with this hiccup, the biggest threat to Iglesias getting saves going forward is a trade to a team with an entrenched closer. As long as he stays in Cincinnati, Iglesias should continue to get his chances.
