Diamondbacks' Brad Boxberger: Allows run while converting save

Boxberger gave up a run on a hit and a walk in an inning of work but still came away with his 27th save of the season Tuesday against the Rangers. He struck out two.

Boxberger allowed a leadoff triple to Jurickson Profar before a sacrifice fly brought him in. He also issued a two-out walk but was able to strike out the final batter to end the threat. The run brought Boxberger's ERA up to 3.46 to go along with a 1.25 WHIP, but he's converted 11 of his last 12 save opportunities and appears to have a grasp on the job for the time being.

  • Kenley Jansen RP | DET

Dodgers' Kenley Jansen: Hopeful for quicker return

Jansen (irregular heartbeat) will throw to hitters Wednesday and Friday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.

After completing the live batting practice sessions, Jansen plans to meet with his cardiologist Monday and is "optimistic" he'll be cleared to pitch in games again after the follow-up visit. Previous timelines for the right-hander's return had been estimated at four weeks at least, but it looks like the closer is trending toward beating that recovery timetable . A clearer picture regarding a potential return date should come into focus after his checkup early next week.

Hudson faced Max Muncy, among others, as general manager Farhan Zaidi and pitching coach Rick Honeycutt looked on. He landed on the disabled list Aug. 7 with forearm tightness, but it seems like his stay could be an abbreviated one given the progress he's already made.
